Ever notice how many people would be freaked out if when having a conversation with someone if you just suddenly started massaging their shoulders or neck just out of the blue, and yet, that same person who got freaked out doesn't mind at all if you're petting their dog while you're having a conversation. There seems to be a fear of human touch for most people (granted, definitely not ALL people), but to pet a dog or a cat or to hold a rodent seems to be different. One usually doesn't look at a human and think "oh, so cute, I just want to give him/her a hug", but when people see a stuffed animal that's made to look "cute", people will want to squeeze it. I think there would be less desire for the whole "furry" thing if people weren't so afraid of human touch--and I'm not talking about sex--let me make that perfectly clear--I'm talking about human touch mixed with human compassion. How many guys are afraid of hugging, especially long hugs, because someone might think they're "gay"? A whole lot. That's another part of this whole thing. I seem to see a lot more guys that are anti-furries than women--I could be wrong.

Maybe I'm just rambling, I don't know. I just thought I'd put my two L$Cents in.

That's also a little detail yes: Furries (the average ones) haven't got this "don't touch meee!" attitude... We hug everything that moves, and if it doesn't move, we hug it till it moves ^^

Granted it is also a furry of course, I doubt I would still have my job if I hugged my boss in greeting ^.^

I believe that joke has run it's course. Furries have been here since beta.

Yiffy, I've always joked about/with furries.

I also happen to be friends with several, including my original first-ever Day 1-in-SL friend/adopted sister in SL, who also happens to be a furry. I have no actual issue with furries at all; I just like to tease. Mostly because people insist on making "furry this" and "furry that" topics repeatedly.

And I'm not entirely kidding. I'm toying with the idea of really making a furry alt just because I can.

I don't know much about furries, but all of the ones I have met have been extremely kind and sweet. They are just too cute! I could cuddle them all day long! I know, probably not what they're looking for, but I'm a sucker for animals (not in an icky way, relax).
Best way to learn more, ask some of them in game or go to a furry and non-furry event.

When I wear my Tiny Furry AV I *LIKE* being cuddled.

some feel connected to animals in the way the indians or other cultrues did. but not in a perverse or sexual way, they simply feel its a way to express their inner personality. Some people are quiet and conserved, so they will choose a creature like that. some people fantasize/enjoy being prey, so they will choose that. others like to feel dominant in their virtual world, so they will choose something that represents that. some people like to be deceptive, so they will choose a dominant form yet be submissive to some extent(and i DO an DONT mean sexually, depends on the fur), other people liked cartoons, some people thought 'funny animal' drawings were cool.

some feel a perverse connection to animals and pretending to be one, shed the human traits, live on animalistic desires, but wouldn't actually do(sex) animals.

a few feel a perverse connection to animals and would probably do it with animals. but theres enough porn sites out ther that you could figure that out without help.

these are usually classified as one name, 'furries' so everything gets lumped together as 'omg furries' or whatever.

yes i realize its five pages in, and probably lots of drama, etc. oh well.
