Ok who in there right mind wants Marc to win a big punitive damage suite and possibly put SL out of business. I do think LL should ban Marc but give him his money back. It sounds like a typical lawer trick and he got caught trying to get something for nothing.

If he took advantage of some sort of land-purchasing 'bug' that allowed him to purchase land below the sell price (when purchasing directly from LL), then this could be spun into virtual theft countersuit. For instance, if the person somehow tricked the bid-process into excepting lower than typical bids.
The article doesn't state the method used. But, it's sorta like getting more money on your paycheck than you earned. Yes, the compnay made a processing mistake, no you don't get to keep the money due to the mistake. It may be that the person had a legit method to purchase significantly below cost, who knows. |

An exploiter is an exploiter, but LL should have a means to not let land go to auction that is not 100% ready to go to auction. LL needs to fix their problem, but I'll still side withthem over an exploiter.

Exactly. If it was an exploited hole in the auctions system, then I'm absolutely for LL here; but there arnt exactly crystal clear details, so - leave it for the courts to decide.
Off the side - this is a bit of an interesting case isnt it? Might finally test whether virtual goods have a legal realworld value in a US Court. _____________________
