I am new to SL i fig i would throw my 2 cent in.
I dont think adult who play miners should have sex in SL its wrong.
but i dont have a problam with adults rpging miners.
i do want to say i have seen a couple of adult playing miners but thay were doing
nothing bad.
thay were jest acking like kids.
I do think sl should look in to this threed.
but to be honist, is this a cass of half truths?
I know my first day in SL i seen 2 adults playing miners i got upset
than it hit me, thay were not doing anything bad jest acking like kids.

A lot of people have that reaction, and I think it's mostly because many people associate SL with 'omnipresent simulated sex'. Which, honestly, I can understand, since that's what a lot of people associate the internet as a whole with. Me personally, I have a child avvie, and when I'm wearing it I'm not trolling for cyber, and am going to respond negatively (and probably pretty harshly) to any offers. |

I guess I don't see this as such a big issue, because if you spend more than a couple of minutes talking with someone I would think that their age and/or maturity level would become apparrent. Depends on what you talk about. My method was by working the conversation into something that wouldn't be common knowledge among the under-18 crowd. Stuff from the early 70's seems to work. Just dont use anything that could've been seen on TV. Use the "Had to be there" kind of stuff. My fiance uses a similar method when RP'ing in her groups chat rooms with new members as well as requiring them to tell their birthdate. Then later on a few days later, she'll ask the birthdate again. And again. Topics I've used: Shields & Yarnell. Gas Rationing. Who came after Nixon? Name Jimmy Carter's wife. The Pain in The Ass Process of filling out you W6 Tax Forms!!! (W6? Yup!! No such thing! Agree with me & your not as old as you want me to believe). _____________________

I could list you a selection of sweets available at my school at the time I was there, but you probably wouldn't recognise any of them, and I don't know anything about the ones above. Aye, that is the one catch. International boundaries are a bitch to get over. Just by using the term "sweets" I already know you're not from america. And in a chat with someone who'd use such terms, naturally you wouldnt try anything with someone like that. _____________________

Tod, I wouldn't be able to tell you a single thing on any of those... and it's not because I'm Canadian, it's because I'm under 30/40. Since 1985 births are 18 now... you're going to find a lot of people who are indeed adults, but only remember the 80s as a carebear filled haze, let alone the 70s before they were concieved.
