Seriously, though ... is there a way you can collect these lists privately by email? My rationale:
1. Some people in this thread are expressing that they are hurt that they are not included in this popularity contest thread.
2. You're not going to get a 100% honest response in a public forum.
3. This is a private event asking for assistance - technically, it really doesn't belong in the forum anyway.

A better alternative would be to post it and ask people to email / IM you.

Btw, this is not about who's popular; it's about who people would pay money in an auction setting in order to spend some time with. Most likely, people are going to do that to meet someone who is accomplished in SL. If that person is also "popular" it is likely because they have done good stuff which has brought them to the attention of many people. This can also occur for someone at the other extreme who is notorious. People would find that to be an interesting conversation, too. You will find many of the people listed here neither to be popular nor notorious; they are what is called respected in their field. Can we not cite people for whom we hold enough respect to be willing to pay for their time in this public forum? Are people who might feel left out wanting to get up on a stageand stand next to them to be bid upon?

Time with the Lindens who have made time available in support of this effort can be won by buying a ticket in the Linden Lottery. After holding the Linden auction, Katt felt strongly about utilizing a format which would give everyone a chance, not just those wwith the most money to buy their time.

Actually, I do report a number of threads by a variety of people.

In this case, this is one where it has been done before, and people had pointed out before that it is a popularity contest thread that tends to make people feel left out, and other people had already pointed it out, and I even pointed out why it'd be an advantage for you to do it privately - that you'd get more honest replies.

hehe.. You know, that is a lot of the reason I didn't name a lot of people. I only named a person I would personally bid on. And that is a person who I never get to spend time with. I would not bid on someone I see all the time, even if they are a celebrity. I would rather someone else get the opportunity to spend time with them for a change. :D

Notoriety and popularity are the true commodities of Second Life - and everything else is inconsequential by comparison. There are people not on these "lists" who have easily accomplished far more than anyone who is "included" - if the criteria is innovation, creativity, pushing the envelope, figuring out new ways to do things or express things, etc.

So to my mind, this contest is the perfect way to celebrate core values and attitudes in Second Life. Go for it! :)

Well, celebrity or not, I am willing to give a few hours of my time for whatever.

I am an accomplished Builder (Architect, Jeweler (Art Deco Style), Fine Art, Anything with a Techno-organic flair).

I am also fairly versed in Scripting and Landscaping

On top of that, I have a nightclub that I am willing to offer as a place to hold special events. For whomever wins me at auction, if they choose to have me perform thus, I will promote their event and use the resources at my disposal to provide superlative event service.

Katt: If need be, I am willing to be sold up to three(3) times at up to two hours each

Of course, if I ain't famous enough to rake in the cash, I understand. I am still willing to help with locations for events, promotion of the event or staff coordination; just let me know.

This is truly funny. I spent my drive into work seriously thinking about my picks and the 2 names I wanted to add to my list were yours and Jake Reitveld's. I'd spend some bucks to argue, I mean have a meaningful debate, with you. I'd spend lots if you showed up in a Che Guervera avatar. That'd be up there with Les White's Jimi Hendrix. Consider this a challange, Mister. :p

Jake gets my pick as someone who is popular and a bit notorious for his expressed views but what do you expect from a zen lawyer. He's demonstrated that he knows how to be a gentleman. I think the ladies would bid like crazy. ;) For a good cause, ya know?
