I've seen a lot of creative, unique, imaginative avatars in my year in SL but I think this last week I've seen it all.

Without intending to out anyone (unless you want to take credit), here's two shots I took of my recent favorites.

And, yes, you're seeing exactly what you think you're seeing in this one (background avie blurred out on purpose)

I remember once in one of those "regular" MMOs (I can't even remember which it was now), I was lying dead (again), and someone named Jesus Christ sailed in out of nowhere to rez me, then took off again like a bullet without a word. I fell into a giggling fit over that. :p

Jesus, right?

I honestly thought that's what s/he meant by, "Hehe, I know who's in that can."

But... really the crucifix is just the icing on the cake IMHO.

Mmmmm...nothing like profaning the sacred in the name of fun, hmm? For the life of me I can't understand why all those Christians in The Sandbox feel so persecuted.

I see nothing imaginitve or creative at all about the Jesus av. A guy with a beard and mustache using a very common poseball animation. Not worthy of a raised eyebrow.

Cindy I have to say...bad taste in even posting the Jesus pic.

Many people will find that highly offensive.

If that was the most creative you could find I think you need to look harder.

Think before you speak/type/post/link....you pretty much blew your own thread before it even got a chance. Was a great idea otherwise.

Cindy, many people will not find it offensive. But most of the people who find it un-offensive will also find it lacking in creativity.

Still I applaud you for posting it. It is better to have communication than self-censorhip in my opinion.

How about a George Bush avatar with politically incorrect statements on buttons or a shirt.

As far as being unusual, I think some of the self-made furry avatars are some of the most original.

In general, I love all the self-expression that happens with people's avatars in SL.

Actually though, my "favorite" avatar is my own.

I'm pretty conservative, and if I see a good GW avatar I'd grab snaps of him even if he was parodying the Pres. (I have a shot of a guy in City of Heroes who did just that). I've seen Osama avs too, and while I didn't think they were very original I didn't have a problem with them until they started griefing our club.

I don't have any sacred cows (ok, maybe strawberries and chocolate). I'm sure that pic did offend some people, but IMO it was completely harmless. We can choose to be offended or we can choose not to be. *shrug*

I actually had a long conversation with the guy and asked him how many people took exception to the cross part, and he said only a couple had objected.

As for the trashcan guy, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting him -- he was talking to me about a script idea I had and his avatar just blew me away. It moves pretty normally and uses a type animation like the rest of us -- but the big cartoon guy holding the bucket does all the walking.
