I think it is a great idea to send naughty children to the corn fields. It worked well for Malachai.

I wasn't going to give it away that easy!

Give what away? You brought it up in the first place! :p

Now if they'd just tell us what violations will get us sent to the cornfeild...

Can we just offer up services for conjugal visits and get a little tour after a roll in the field?

Or. If someone gets so many ARs in the same area at once, instant Cornfeilding.

I'm guessing the prison sim is somehow related to whoever came up with the old 404 page? I believe it was a picture of a cornfield?

Instead of creating a lame waste of space and resources such as the cornfield, LL should do something to improve the problems people are having with textures etc. within SL. If they can waste their damn time making a place for sussed/banned people, then they can fix the damn issues we have so that people who actually are allowed in SL can enjoy their time...

Well, Robin said it didn't take long to make it. Lots of little things can be added to a game with just a few minutes effort. No use not adding them just because you have several months-long projects in progress.

(The above is not a commentary on whether even having a cornfield at all is a good or bad thing.)

Welp like I said, that supposedly minimal effort effort could be put to better use than to make a cornfield area for the people who can't play nice, it just shows exactly who LL is trying to impress...

Would it be OK if someone came in on their vacation time to work on something like this? :p

I give it a week before someone recreates The Cornfield somewhere, private sim or mainland. Honestly I think it'd be a good reality check for LL when they relize that SL criminals think of it as a joke more then a prison sentance and its a waste of resources after once non-repeating offenders become constant repeating offenders.

If I had a sim I'd call it 'The Cornhole'

and ask if I could be put right next to it :P

saw that..

and of course..

/108/9a/80836/2.html#post831706

now the question is.. who's going to make an avatar-head-in-a-box that we can paste an offenders face on? :p

-

and no, this wasn't a waste of time.. it was a whimsical and fun addition that enriches our world with some much needed FUN!!

yes, i know.. but, griefers and the like shouldn't be having fun. sure, good point.. BUT, the fun part is for the general populace. actually having to hang out in The Cornfield would eventually be a bummer.. what fun is it to be able to only chat?

although, i wonder if it's "no-build"? that would be fitting.. and so would disabling of IMs. and no flight. and... NO FREAKIN' SCRIPTS!!!

bah.. i'm getting too wordy.. point is, it's cool to see LL able to flex some funny-bone muscle, you can feel the spirit of the old SL stirring in the winds.. and that's a GOOD thing!

a real good thing they done. ;)

LOL, Quirk, I agree! It is a fun thing, a little thing, and just my type of humor, as I said before.

And it is a good thing.

yes, yes, it's a very good thing.

Clickableculture.com were the ones to interview me, but the rest picked it up from them...

The are all basicly the same. The Corn Field was on boingboing.net, slashdot.com, and the UK nat. press. Not sure where all the links are at.

Edited: Sorry Zero, dunno where that .net came from!

Sorry. I don't think there is a cornfield. I can make pictures that look like that too. Only Nimrod has come forth and said he's been there.

It's all as fake as the lunar landing, I tell ya! ;) Cornfield. Man on the moon. Sheesh. You can't believe it just because you saw it on TV or read it on the internet.

Create phantom zone prims that swirl around in the air, the faces of those in the corfnfield on them....

Better yet, turn the cornfield into the phantom zone...have the offending user trapped inside a prim for the duration of their punishment.

Actually that's Clickableculture.com :) -- there were at least 30 sites linking to the article on Clickable Culture (judging by Technorati searches and my server logs) including Boing Boing, Slashdot, Kotaku, Joystiq, GameSetWatch, Blue's News, Waxy, and a couple dozen lesser-known blogs. It's the most broadly-covered SL item I've seen in a while.

Of course the first thing I thought of personally was the recent CIA scandle of secret prisons.

This is actually what I thought of too. They happened at the same time, and I think I even mentioned it to one of my friends.

If I'm not mistaken, Impeach Bush was in the cornfield at one point. I remember reading something Nimrod wrote in some other thread about seeing him in there and having a chat or something.
Impeach Bush is in the gulag??? What - the guy or the signs? :p

If it is sign free, sounds like a nice relaxing place to visit. Zoning comes to SL! How come you have to be a criminal to enjoy it though???
