What a perfect way to send off the forums, by LL letting their junior hall monitor enact a permaban on our resident comedian and rebel.

Torley suggested when someone else complained about the aforementioned hall monitors acting up to email [email]abuse@secondlife.com[/email] and file an AR.

Most of us oldbies refer to people by av gender out of politeness. Just one of those weird SL ettiquete things

I once read on Torley's log that as an employee of LL he is a "he" but in the platform a she.

I often call Torley he out here in forums because I seperate Torley the worker for LL from Torley the in game persona. I started thinking that way when I read that.

EDIT: This is the one that made me think of this:

When I knew Torley he and his avatar both had penises.

I've not spoken to him again since he switched his avatar female.

Therefore, as far as I'm concerned, all I've known of Torley was him as a he.

IMO it's rather un necisary to ban people from these forums since it's about to be scrapped anyway... But i'm not on the payroll.. Doesn't matter what i think.

i honestly have to wonder if it has been conveyed properly that ResMods are not more affectual in Residents being banned/suspended than other Residnets.

we do not, by definition, have anything to do with anyone being reprimanded.

we can submit threads for review, we can submits thread to be watched.. we can submit posts to be looked into, BUT we are not a stop-gap towards anyone being banned.

if there was any action that a ResMod affectuated a suspension from, i am not aware of any such thing.. it is not visible in the ResMod forums. there does exist the possibility that a PM was used to this end, but again.. i've seen absolutely no evidence thereof.

ResMods are not responsible for bans/suspensions. it is a Linden decision; however, said decision may be influenced by threads/posts that are brought forward for Linden Review. i doon't know what happened in this case, except for hat i saw nothing leading to it until after the fact.

which, by the way, i have to agree.. odd thread/post to base a ban on.


also, agreed with Ravenelle and Infiniview.. it was a great post and it exemplifies alot of what i am about and wuold encourage in anyone else, as well.

You know I had a funny moment the other night. Jana Fleming was in the club I work at and was nervous because of my past with resmods. I got a laugh out of it, I'd never attack someone on the job or just because they were a resmod.

It's not the manner in which it was conveyed. You just have a different interpretaion than many others have of the same information. Which is good, I think; I'd rather that you had good intentions when you undertook your position of influence with LL in pointing out which of your fellow forum residents misbehaviors get attended to. I'd like to think that at least the motive was well intended even if the end result wasn't.

thank you, Margaret. thank you for seeing that, because that really has been core to my ResModding experience.. just trying to help. trying to be unbiased. and never assuming that i was of any type of a Linden status ever.. i was simply a guy who wanted to help out.

unfortunately, it has been for naught.. if there was any one thing i could have hoped to come from my position as a ResMod, it would have been that i had made a positive enough influence in the forums to prevent The Closure.

but, yes.. my intentions were always "on the up and up". (go check out some stuff at SecondCitizen, where i've been batted about several different times.. and you'll see what i mean. just ask Mulch.)
