Yea! Let's sue all the service providers on the Internet for not having that 100% uptime.

I'ma going to sue all participants on this thread for failing to generate entertainment, and causing irrepreable damage to my life, case-in-point. I lost 53 seconds of life typing this :(

Credit for what? Lost sales? That's the only thing I really stand to lose, and if someone wants to buy from me, they'll just wait and do it later. I don't really understand what you're wanting?

I'm no math expert but ,according to my calculations, if Second Life is down for 24 hours you lose 33 cents (USD). Most outages seem to be much shorter so if this outage lasts 4 hours Linden labs just screwed you out of 5.5 cents!

I suggest the concerned parties call Linden Labs and demand their 5 cents back!

BTW my math may be off a little. :)

every time SL goes down, someone rant about taking LL to court for a refund.... too funny!

I'll sue the city for making me waste fuel while waiting at a red light.

I guess we all just have to find something else to do whilst its down :)

Although, in the name of fainess, tier fees still run although grid is down. Lets say SL is down one day in 30 days and you pay 15 000USD tier /month, a 500 USD snip off the tier fee would be resonable.

god the sarcasm is stifling in here.

did the poster mention suing or anything? no.

it would just be nice to have some compensation, even if it was a small ammount.
the downtime is an inconvenience that is lasting a long time when people may have other things planned IRL and had important things to do in-world.
with the time its already been down plus the expected 3hrs till return, it will have been about 6 hours. if you have a free account, you might not give a shit about that. if you are paying to play, it becomes something different.

Why is it when the grid goes down somebody has to say we need compenstation for it being down, because we had plans in RL?

Honestly go do what you have to do and when you get done finish your inworld things then. Just stop demanding compensation for downtime.

Ohhh I got a Idea next time you are at work and need to go "potty" be sure to inform payroll you had to take a unexpected break and your time needs to be docked accordingly. What not a fair comparison? Well this may not be a scheduled downtime but it is nescessary for them to get thing back up so we can go inworld and enjoy ourselves! OHHHH I know hell with it Kelly, Jack, and whoever is at the company tonight/this evening just put the back-up servers online and let people bitch cause there stuff isnt right! That way they can come and bitch ohhhhhhhh my inventory, building, scripting, and normal movement in world isnt acting like it should!

Considering most accounts are free ones, how the hell would one give credit for downtime?

oh yea check out the TOS there is no provision for credit for down time.
In fact they can just shut down completely and we all loose everything according to the TOS.

There is no credit for down time is a silly notion to begin with and even if they did it would be impossible to figure because every one has different amount to loose.
I personally have lost 1000's of L$ in sales today just due to the asset server slow downs not to mention the shut down.
but I would never ask for compensation because i look at it as a cost of doing business.

and oh yea SHIT HAPPENS GET OVER IT the world will be back up soon enough no need to get your panties in a bunch over a few hours of down time.
