Another Copyright Violation

I was shopping for doors and popped up on something that looked like one of my products. However when all the textures came through, I saw that it was a sad imitation of my Studio, Camera, and an exact duplicate of my Modeling Table (minus my textures)...(I guess they haven't figured out how to get those yet.) They even put out a trunk just like mine. (How original!)

Obviously whomever this person is studied my product just like the last idiot who copied it (probably as an alt...Linden Lab knows who the hell you are btw...) and tried to create yet another pathetic knock off.

Needless to say, my item is now officially under U.S. Copyright protection and I have filed a DMCA complaint. If the infringer decides to file a counter-notification the matter WILL be pursued...

When are you sorry bottom feeders going to come up for air and stop profiting off of the work of others? Well you just met your Goddam match.

Your item and the alleged infringing item look nothing alike??? Yours is obviously better, theirs is a cheap imitation, but you do not possess the copyright to all circular posing stands and all items relating to photography studio equipment. You are waaay out of line imo.

They are two completely different items. The 2nd person probably looked at your concept, then made their own. That's not stealing.

I don't think knock offs are really stealing. If they are there's a lot of people "stealing" from me.

I think part of the problem with proving a knock off in SL is that modelling platforms are common and almost always circular when visible... and the idea of a camera and backdrop can be pulled directly from RL.

The person may have knocked off the work, or maybe didn't... since they didn't steal the textures, it's almost impossible to tell. They still had to do all of the work building it...

It's a bit like RL clothing... if my pants look like levis jeans, in that they have a fly and two legs... is that me knocking off levis or is it just pants?

They could have at least made it look different. It's obvious that they were trying real hard to copy it. You should buy a copy before it gets removed if you filed a complaint. That's too funny. People are not only stupid, but dumb too. Make a product just like someone else and have the stupidity to make it obvious that they are copying.

Sorry this happened to you...again. I would ignore these fools who are supporting it, (prolly alts), they are just jealous.

Personaly it looks like a standard "industrial" type of set up.. whereas madams is a bit more flashy.. Doesn't look like the intended to copy, but they might have..

I do not think you will have a valid case, if it for some unknown reason goes to court, I am sure their lawyer will find something similiar to yours that was made before and accuse you of actually being the thief.. :/

Well it looks as if all posing stands in SL just became sole property of MadamG. That said it does appear somebody copied and built a studio to compete with yours, why not just accept the fact that unless you copyrighted the everything involved in the studio you have no case. I have a posing stand that with a lil creative engineering and time I can make it look just like yours, and there is nothing you can do about it. Look at the market now, see the obvious knock offs and industry competion? MadamG I say this get off your high horse and start bumping sales, if the copy is cheaper then its time to lower your price to compete if its higher then you need not worry.

Sometimes RL inventors get shafted because people hear about something and figure hell I can make that a hella lot cheaper and it will function the same. Seems that is the case here, you priced the Studio and people bought it and then some people that wanted one was like whooooaaaa nelly I dont have that much cash to spend on a studio to take pictures, and created one and then somebody said hey put that for sale and they did.

I know of a scriptor here in world that would have people attack him so he could copy and reproduce a well know sheild/defence system. He even in the early stages called it ***tech trap and ***orbit. But I know the original is still selling because on my trips to the sandbox I hear people saying I need to save my L$ so I can buy ***/***tech and not the knock off.

So lighten up, ignore them, and act like the mature adult in hte situation. File your reports and sue them in RL, IMO all that will do is make you seem like a greedy insecure person.

MadamG, make sure you tell the judge to subpeona a list of all the infringers alt accounts to see if they in fact did purchase your Studio like the last thief did. Tell them that you have reason to believe that the infringer obtained your Studio and copied it. Very simple. When and if you go to court over this, please send me an IM exposing the alts of the infringer. It wouldn't surpise me to see this genius is on that list.

Well little lady I hate to bust your bubble I am not supporting somebody stealing anything! In this world people seem to think everything is unique to them and that they are the only people able to create something. Yes the other studio might be a copy of the one MadamG makes, or it might be something that the person saw and said ya know I can do that and maye just maybe changed how some of the controls work or something along those lines. I agree with Ryan00. First: Immitation is the most sincere form of lfattery. You've obviously created a good enough product to warent being duplicated, you should take pride in that. How did I start scripting? By trying to reimplement and improve the ideas of others
Two, there are no patents in SL. You do not own the rights to all modeling stands in SL. The concept of a modeling studio with a backdrop and a camera and a round posing stand is not copyrightable. Imitation is not infringment. Your textures and scripts are not being used, and they are copyrightable.
Three, the DMCA is a vile piece of legislation. You are using it in exactly the way it was designed for: large names/companies trying to beat down the little guy.
And four: stop with the ad hominem attacks. Yelling "ALT!!!!11" when someone disagrees with you is no way to conduct a discussion.

looking at both studios i wonder if it would even the thing a bit if i dissected both and made an item superior to both (you know i can do it ^.^)
