From: Doubledown Tandino Your item and the alleged infringing item look nothing alike??? Yours is obviously better, theirs is a cheap imitation, but you do not possess the copyright to all circular posing stands and all items relating to photography studio equipment. You are waaay out of line imo.
They are two completely different items. The 2nd person probably looked at your concept, then made their own. That's not stealing. I totally agree. How many hundreds of thousands of players are there, someone else could have though of it without having ever seen your product. Welcome to the world of competition. Get over it.

This thread made me curious about why photostudios are suddenly so popular. I know someone who made her own and she loves it. So I went around testing out a few just to see. I can see how they're kind of fun but I think I'll stick with my simple old tried and true method of my own favorite background + model on posing stand + edit in photoshop.
Madam maybe you're over reacting just a bit this time? I did see the one you mention up close and your own in world. The textures aren't the same, the pose stands aren't the same, the other one has completely different controls at it's base than yours (arrow controls for changing poses and rotations). Even the trunk is completely different. The only thing I saw that was similar was the camera and the one in question didn't work when I tried it.
Your trunk has a lot of detail, as does your studio with directional lights, all very nicely done. The other one had none of those details, in fact not even much of an attempt at them. This really didn't seem like a copy of your work. It seemed more like another standard version of nearly every other photostudio I saw.
I don't know who was the first person in SL to come up with idea of putting animations inside circular prims and calling them poseballs, but someone had to be the first, then there was another and another all going with the same idea. I think this is more like that.
In RL someone (I have no idea who, too lazy to google it) invented the first bicycle. Since then there have been several makers all coming up with new and better designs. Did they all copy the first one? Yes. Did they have the right to do that or should we all now only be able to buy bicycles made by one company with the original owner as founder and no one else should ever be able to make one?
I think that there are too often cases where people get away with and make a profit from sponging off another person's creativity but I think calling this theivery this time is an exaggeration honestly.

From: MadamG Zagato I guess we'll let the Courts decide. LOL Do you have any idea how expensive it is to go after someone in court? Anyway, you need to have evidence of prior art, which won't exist because you didn't invent any of this stuff. The case would never even go to trial, I reckon.

From: Ryan00 Odets Well little lady I hate to bust your bubble I am not supporting somebody stealing anything! In this world people seem to think everything is unique to them and that they are the only people able to create something. Yes the other studio might be a copy of the one MadamG makes, or it might be something that the person saw and said ya know I can do that and maye just maybe changed how some of the controls work or something along those lines. As for my tag yes I am just a stupid redneck, but your last name does you more justice than anything you can respond with!!!!
As for me being a alt of the accused nope not me hell I wanted one of hte studios but cant bring myself to spend the money on it, I have more important things to buy ATM, and god only knows I cant build to save my damn life hahahahaha!!!
As for this being a communist appoach to doing business, not in the least its called competion and it exists in RL. Go to the Dollar General Store and look at all the products that are cheaper and the exact same thing asn teh name brands. **sighs** Guess good ole' Dollar General Corp. is communist! So now you are saying that you support thievery in SL at Dollar Store prices! Why don't you do us all a favor and take a nap. Aren't your fingers getting tired from logging in and out and posting? Wouldn't your time be best spent visiting shops and making dollr store knock offs of other people products as you have admitted to doing? Ipso facto that you have admissions to such doings. What mongrings would amount to that? You're being defensive for no apparent reason, but alas your choppy dollar store stolen textures you claim to have retreived. pfft

I would not have responded had your irrelavant comment not been so closely related to the Ryan's syntax. But while I am responding to one alt, should I not entertain the other? You certainly do remind me of Adolf Hitler too. You speak of Christianity as if it were some sort of a cult, then you makes false claims. How should anyone believe anything you say?

From: MadamG Zagato I was shopping for doors and popped up on something that looked like one of my products. However when all the textures came through, I saw that it was a sad imitation of my Studio, Camera, and an exact duplicate of my Modeling Table (minus my textures)...(I guess they haven't figured out how to get those yet.) They even put out a trunk just like mine. (How original!) Obviously whomever this person is studied my product just like the last idiot who copied it (probably as an alt...Linden Lab knows who the hell you are btw...) and tried to create yet another pathetic knock off. Needless to say, my item is now officially under U.S. Copyright protection and I have filed a DMCA complaint. If the infringer decides to file a counter-notification the matter WILL be pursued... When are you sorry bottom feeders going to come up for air and stop profiting off of the work of others? Well you just met your Goddam match. (I didn't buy any doors from that place either.) Here's the infringing item: Here's the original: Another drama thread. by the same person, wow what a suprise... knock offs are not copyright infringement... get over it already...

I feel no need to defend my creative position in the matter to you. But thanks for agreeing with me anyway. It helps to know that there are others who do not support content creators rights.

Get over yourself already and stop polluting threads with "fishy substances". I guess I'll be getting more harrassing emails from a certain Casanova who has to post on every thread I start just to satisfy some disfunctional yearning that somehow involves me. You are treading on thin ice. I suggest you back the fuck off and quit fucking harassing me. Do you need translation? French: Vous marchez sur la glace mince. Je vous suggère en arrière le casser et stoppe baiser m'harcelant. Italian: State percorrendo su ghiaccio sottile. Li suggerisco indietro il vaffunculo e rinuncio scopare harassing. Spanish: State percorrendo su ghiaccio sottile. Li suggerisco indietro il vaffunculo e rinuncio scopare harassing. German: Du trittst auf dünnem Eis. Ich schlage dich zurück abhauen vor und beendige zu bumsen, mich bedrängend.

From: Zalandria Zaius I don't think knock offs are really stealing. If they are there's a lot of people "stealing" from me. your right, just like you go to a store in RL you see cheap knock offs of other quality stuff. Its just how stuff works in RL and SL

what exactly are you supposed to have copyright of? A posing stand with a changing backdrop? I built one in early 2004, before custom animations - and your account - existed. It automatically issued all the animation sequences that we used to have to do to 'hack' photo poses together. Then when 1.4 came along, I revamped it for custom anims on the preview grid, releasing it the day that they came into effect. Gonna sue me too? Besides which I've seen at least a half dozen similar 'studios' in the last two years or so. I guess you have a lot of legal legwork to do!

So don't act surprised when you get the finger. Why don't you go cry over on the SLUniverse Forum and make some fake IM messages to post up just because somebody doesn't like you? I somehow thought we got over this hump and moved on, but you keep following me around on the forums like a lost lil puppy dog? What hun, did you loose your thread? Here it is: /120/a8/44421/1.html bye

I'm locking this thread for two reasons: Trolling & Private Discussion. Forum Guidelines: Private discussions – the forums are a public area for the Second Life community’s use. Individuals who have a dispute with each other have other channels of communication to discuss their differences or communicate – private messaging, IM within Second Life, or chatting within Second Life. Also, threads that are addressed to a single individual or group are inappropriate on the forums, this includes slander or "naming names" in a posts title, starting polls about a particular resident or group, etc. Flaming, Spamming, Trolling – Flaming (posting a message that is intended to incite anger or directly attack a person or persons), Spamming (multiple posts of the same topic or discussion), and Trolling (a post with an intentionally contrary opinion written with the intent of inciting or getting argumentative opinions) are strongly discouraged. If you think your post might be over-reactive, or that it might fall into one of these definitions, please reconsider posting.

I *think* Kris' point was she made one WAY before you were even SLborn - hence, you have no copyright on it? Unless you wanna sue for her travelling to the future to steal your ideas - she does that a lot
