I just wanted to see who here is actually gainfully employed, and such isn't whining about the grid being down. Out of morbig curiosity.

How about those of us who are at work, yet are still willing to whine about it? ;-)

How much do you get paid to wiggle eyebrows? Is it by how many people's eyebrows you wiggle, or a set rate? Do you get medical? Did you have to be licensed? Where can I find out more about this exciting career?

Curiously enough, I manage a small business making microprocessor-controlled model trains.

No, I don't, actually I am a marketing consultant for Halliburton.

No, that was a joke, really I export jam to Iran, where they are surprisingly short of any jam that is not made out of dates, and you would be surprised how quickly one gets tired of date jam.

Hah, not really. I do temp secretarial work and bitch every evening to a bottle of wine about how I am smarter than my bosses.

The truth is actually that I am employed by the police to type up reports on serial killers, which I re-interpret as business practice for future use.

Or maybe I tell people why their bins haven't been emptied.

Well. Okay. Nobody would believe those. To be frank I sell drugs to children, and not even good drugs. Actually kids don't have the money for drugs so I sell them to the parents and get them to hand them out because they're healthy.

(One or more of the above are actually things that I really have done.)

unemployed right now pretty much, unless I call my old job back and crawl back to them, which I am not really interested in. going to float a few job offers at other places when I decompress from my old stressful job a bit, and hope to jump back into the work scene soon with call backs from those places!

ps: never work at petsmart...

I have a job in the real world, writing SQL, supporting customers, writing random web pages and apps, and anything that falls under my title as generic web monkey.

Not a regular job in the strictest sense. Working on an app for the new family business.

I don't take issue with downtimes of course, most of you know that.

I've worked as a professional Pet Sitter for over 10 years. Now I own and run the company.

Since I'm self employed, I can say my boss is a real bitch. Yeah. She's yelling at me right now to get off the boards and get some real work done. Gawd.

Us lot NOT in the US might have gainful employment that we're not being kept from cos the updates are in the evening. Big smiles. We love Wednesdays in the UK/Europe!

(but it needs doing, what can you do)

I am at work at this moment. It is extremely dark right now as we are trying to conserve energy to keep the f'ing air conditioners in proper order.

I have very flexible work hours in that they flex and expand to fit my every waking hour (and some of my non-waking hours).

Kevn would not like it here. It is not a nice place and the people are mean. I fit in. :)

I'm in an insurance office surrounded by 60 or so file storage boxes. My job is to put stickers on things.

Sometimes I make a spreadsheet.

Summer jobs are awful.

I dont do shit. I was in the military for 20 years and now you all pay me to sit at home collecting my pension until the end of my natural life.

But, I have fought for your freedom many times. So you do owe me.

I am a freelancer. I make a living designing and building things in Flash. It is manly work, not unlike the kind of earthy labor our pioneer forebears engaged in to put food on their own tables.
