As suggested in another thread, should free accounts have a voice on the forum, or should they be silenced? Not a good idea, because the new users come here asking for help. And they get answers to their questions, and meet people in the process. The unverified users are already being limited to where they can go. I have a free additional basic account, so I really do not like this idea. I am sure you will get plenty of other people responding that will say it better than I have, but I repeat, I do *not* like this idea under any circumstances |

Ive met Summer, Jonas, and shes witty, and already a very competent builder. You'd like her, but this artificial division in nthe community would put up blocks between you and her inworld, just because of that little box that says unverified. ![]() Agreed, Lucifer. Summer is one of my very favourite SL-ers. She's also great company at a campfire. ![]() |

Why is this thread even here?
Would like to point out the words TOLERANCE and ACCEPTANCE. Self important silly people I know will always exist but why o why do they demand acceptance of themselves but refuse to accept others? |

in Reply to the should non-premium members be allowed to post on these forums.....YES, I think #1) Just because they do not pay a regular monthly fee does not mean thet do not contribute to the in world society of SL. I m sure there would be a few basic members that are creators or event hosts or even omg..your friends.
#2 The forums are for all members ( gives us something to do while waiting for the grid to come back up). Yes-- I am a premium pay by the year account and have been since I first started playing, but I have alts that are only basic members. Just my 2cents worth Darcy _____________________

Perhaps a delay? Like new accounts cannot post till they have played a month?
We all know about that 'troll' who posts in every topic just to tick us all off, but i learned to ignore him. I would suggest everyone do the same. I won't name names, but you know who he is. _____________________

I think the forums should be open to everyone.. but require a free account to post..
At the very least General and Off Topic should be public _____________________

As suggested in another thread, should free accounts have a voice on the forum, or should they be silenced? Isn't this thread from the same "enlightened personage" who is always Whining that LL is stepping on HIS rights to Free speech? Nice to Know he REALLY believes his own Posts. Lol. What he means id "Freedom of speech for Me and Nobody else" Word for today Mes Enfante,"Hypocricy" Look it up. Angel. |

Freedom of speech does not apply in a privately owned forum. You have no freedom of speech here. You're talking law. Freedom of Speech is also a principle, a concept, and as such applies universally. Too many people seem to think of it as an inconvenient nuisance that needs to be combatted and they look at the law for loopholes. Just because you *can* legally stifle speech in private forums or elsewhere does not mean it is moral or just to do so. IMO it's something that should not EVER be done without extraordinary cause. |

This thread is another reminder that if Secondlife goes completely down the pan, it might not be entirely the fault of the Lindens.
Good luck, everybody. Really. |

Why don't we all get as sanctimonious, condescending, elitist, and arrogant as possible? I and a few like minded individuals have been holding up our end, it's the rest of these posters who've been slacking off. ![]() |

There is absolutely no reason why free accounts should not have equal voice in these forums. The most ignorant and annoying people I have encountered are full paying members. There is a wonderful thing called the ignore button if you don't like what someone has to say. We have the tools to control our own experience, instead of trying to control someone else.

Those who aren't verified aren't spending. They can still purchase Lindens without being verified can't they? _____________________

Of course anyone should be able to post. One of the things thats nice about the forums is when a brand new person asks for information and gets lots of replies back offering tips and help. Why would we want to stop doing that? At least in those threads something positive is happening.

I'm just curious if I am considered when of the lower class citizens who should have no voice. I recently quit playing a online game that I had played for 8 years (UO). Looking around for something to replace that, I stumbled upon SL, which due to the free account I decieded to try out. Now since opening my "free" account, I have spent 40-50 dollars on Lindens buying these cool little gadets and clothes, however I see no advantage to opening a premium account. Unless I am missing something, the only advantage a premium account offers is the ability to own land, which at this early point in my sl exsistance I have no desire to do. Now just because I am not a landowner, and pay as I go, my voice (not that I have anything constructive to say yet) should be muffled? Just curious No you shouldn't be muffled. Don't listen to all the people who say if you don't pay out the nose to play you dont count. I dont pay a dime to LL because I dont need to own land and like you I see that as the only benefit to being premium. I make my own money, I dont need stipends and I dont buy L$. My partner owns land, I help manage that land, why do I need my own? But believe me I contribute plenty to SL (though not to LL directly) and my opinions are just as valuable as anyone elses. So are my complaints when I have them, as are anyone elses. _____________________

As suggested in another thread, should free accounts have a voice on the forum, or should they be silenced? Some people like me, have had a paying account but because of fundage and the like, has had to go back to basic/non-paying account. So this would not be fair, in my opinion, if the forums were closed to non-payers. Or was I misunderstanding you? T _____________________

I am also hoping that one day I will be able to own my own sim. But that is in like 1-2 years in the future. _____________________

While we are at it. You know with taking away anyone who plays this laggy ass game and all's rights. Why don't we atart burning the American flag. And killing kittens in microwaves. I mean nothing can be worse then taking away the rights of people....Soon we will have a camp for all the registered and non registered. Registered to the left, non registered to the right. What the fuck is wrong with you people? Apparently you need to feel empowered by paying 9.95USD . I happen to be registered and I pay. And I don't even know why I pay anymore. I see how many people here in SL have ego trips. And your names have been written down . You will be banned from all of my land and I will pass the word you have made the decision to take away the rights of others simply because you are lacking in other parts. It's people like you who make people grief. You're the ones who don't belong in Second Life. You belong in Political office's, and sitting in a chair with a bottle of whiskey in your hand and a gun in the other.

taking away the abillity to comunicate on the fourms of non premium accounts is pretty much like saying, we should pull all the teeth out of boys because they might bite the girls, now if they go and get a sex change we can set them up with some nice dentures...
WTF is wrong with you retards? i thought we were moving "away" from a segragating and discriminating society, not towards -.- as a side note, i know i have bad spelling. discriminate me, tell me my opinion doesent matter because i'm too lazy to use spell check, your just ignoreing the fact you cant handle my point of view because you think i may just be right! rawr! |

What is it that makes people want to single people out because of a little box on someones profile? I have met some really good people in world and some downright idiots. There is no distinction between free and premium accounts here - both can be either, although I think people do sometimse think that because they pay for their accounts that gives them the right to be the idiots. PS: Keep up the good work with secondcast Regards Timmins Hamilton |
