No. Now that I know that they cry around you, I am going to drop them all over your land. And now that I know you know... I'm going to cut you into slivers with a blunt potato peeler and explain to Torley when she shows up that you walked over a razor sharp cattle grid whilst wearing a cabin on your head. _____________________

I can't believe how mean people are being!
Okay, fine, you don't get the whole "having a baby in SL" thing. So, substitute some other product in the "I paid $6,500L for ______________ and haven't received it" You would be pissed too and you know it. Be it a vehicle, a weapon, a house, a baby -- there are items in SL that cost a lot and we all approach these transactions with a sense of trust: Ya pay for something, you expect to get it. If a peep is gonna run a business, they should do it properly. If you make a committment, meet it. If extenuating circumstances come up, communicate that with your customer. Don't just blow them off. Danya, I'm sorry you've had to go through this -- sadly, I don't have any great words of wisdom. I personally would send daily requests for the baby or an immediate refund (and keep copies of your IMs so you have a "paper trail" Hopefully the business owner will rise to the occasion and provide the product she has been well paid for.At some point you may have to just write it off and chalk it up as a bad experience. Who knows, it might inspire you to create a competitive business that will thrive because you deliver what you promise. Best to ya hun. |

Since this seems to come up every couple of months it makes me think that SL could desperately use an ebay style business feedback system. It would be nice if people had any easy way to judge how the experience of others has been with specific businesses before laying out a lot of money and expectations.
To the OP, I hope you're able to get this resolved without any more undue disappointment. _____________________

Oh god not this again.
This is like the 5th time i've seen a thread from some weeping mother, crying a sea of pixelated tears for her digital baby. It's a bunch of spheres and cylinders with textures, get over it, seriously. Yeah you lost a bunch of money on it, but take it up with the owner of the business and the Abuse Report form, no need to post on the forums. _____________________

This place allows women in SL to experience the beauty of pregnancy and childbirth..or so I thought. I didn't make her wait for her money, why should I have to wait for my baby? I was due to "deliver" on 2/24/06. Just like "RL" sometimes babies don't get delieved on the due date, some times its a month after...hell my rl friend is 2 months late cause the docs gave her a wrong due date. You thought this was like "RL" and you're right. |

You got gyped out of a few bucks.
Nothing more. It's a bunch of prims, textures, and a few lines of script. Its not a child. It's a bloody tamagotchi. Come to us as a customer complaining of getting ripped off, we'll be sympathetic, even if we find it a bit odd. Come here with emotional plees about the "magic of childbirth" and taking time off from RL work and stuff, and we'll call it like we see it. As someone who will probably never have biological offspring of his own, while my story is not (obviously) as tragic as Lorelei's, I can't say I have any sympathy over the shipping on your tomagotchi being shipped a bit late. _____________________

Oooooh, I shouldn't. I so really shouldn't. But I cannot resist... With you so far. A Consumer Reports-stlye feature to SL would be great, IMO. ... but you did. You posted on the forums. What is this if not a glorified peanut gallery? You know what I don't appreciate? Struggling with infertility, trying to come to terms with the fact I will likely *never* have my own biological living, breathing children. That's a real downer. That's something that's really unfair. So, if you'll excuse me, my sympathy is saved for others like me who know the pain of trying so hard to have a baby in real life and never having one. And the ones who have endured miscarriages along the way. You know what I find belittling? Someone moaning over pixels while complaining they don't have a prim baby. After you've gone through countless exams and bloodwork, medications and test strips, month after month of hope dashed by heartache, and the depression that followed, *then* come to me and we'll talk. As it is, you're out about $23. That's nothing compared to the expense I've incurred in trying to have a baby. So, it could be worse. I'm sorry you were ripped off. I am. Buyer beware, but there's nothing more to it than that. And you cope with that in your own way. Other people cope in their own ways. That doesn't mean that the people who abuse them are right. _____________________

Couldn't say this better myself. You could chuck it as another "Buyer Beware" lesson. We all get gyped once in a while. We all learn from it. Better luck on your next prim baby next time or at least I hope you get refunded for all the trouble. I always fail to understand the rudeness of some people on the forums.
Yes, TO YOU, it might be only a few prims. Be it. But it's very untolerant to laugh on other people, who can and do have various reasons for doing this. If they enjoy SL, with prim babies, why is that such a problem? Some people might be constrained to a wheelchair in real life, and thus might value a 'silly' prim horse or bicycle more than you do. They might enjoy riding it in SL. And you saying 'get a life, do it in RL' is just... rude. As for the poster: maybe try Metaverse Messenger (www.metaversemessenger.com), it's a weekly newspaper that will have a special column where customers can tell their bad experience with businesses. (Of course it probably will be checked for validity.) _____________________

Yet again, I find myself reading comments on a Prim Baby thread to the effect that someone has their priorities wrong if they take a day off work to deal with something in Second Life.
This is absolutely not the case. Quite the opposite, I would have thought. If one can take days off work to do more rewarding things one should, and I would particularly the admire the chutzpah of anyone who tried to take them as (m/p)aternity leave. |

I've closed this thread as it's not only spiraled out of control including personal attacks, but also because it may have been best initially suited as:
Private discussions – the forums are a public area for the Second Life community’s use. Individuals who have a dispute with each other have other channels of communication to discuss their differences or communicate – private messaging, IM within Second Life, or chatting within Second Life. Also, threads that are addressed to a single individual or group are inappropriate on the forums, this includes slander or "naming names" in a posts title, starting polls about a particular resident or group, etc. Many people come to Second Life for many different reasons. I understand some come here because of something that they aren't able to experience offline. I am certainly one. In any case--I make no value judgements. I simply hope there is more happiness in the world, for ourselves, and for each other._____________________
