Could we not turn this into a flame war? :/ This is a warning to the community, and someone asking for help on what to do in this sitatuion.

For those of you who have nothing constructive to say, or only want to flame me and this thread, please keep your noses out of it. I'm asking for advice and maybe a little bit of support. I know there are other girls in this group that are effected as well. I've been asking them to come forward as well, and a few of them have. With all of you people who are being idiotic and flaming, are not helping this situation, nor are you making it very comfortable for the other women who were effected to come forward and ask for help. I'm just trying to help and be helped by someone who might know a course of action for me to take. So please take your idiotic flaming elsewhere!

While I can sympathize with the OP in her situation, starting a thread to make a deliberate attack on a group or individual is against the rules.

I did not start this thread to attack this group. I started it to ask for help from someone who may have had this problem before. Right now, I'm going to be trying to get my money back from her. So we can really end this discussion, unless someone knows a way I can guarantee getting my money back for at least the baby. Again, this is NOT an attack on the group, this was just to let people known what has been happening, so it does not happen to them, and to ask for advice.

Okay, so I'm thinking something. 99.9% of SL business proprietors aren't making this their fulltime job. For the vast majority of cases, this is fine. Sell something, get a support IM, answer 8 to 48 hours later, mostly no big deal. Do some custom work, deadline has to slide because the contractor is backed up -- hey, no problem, the client has a RL, too.

This sloppy deadlines business is mostly the norm, I'd think. I do my best to respond to offline support IMs within 12 hours at a max, but sometimes I go out of town, have a tough time at work, whatever, and that slows things down. But my customers are rarely in an enormous hurry. I'm sure plenty of businesses operate with similar latency.

However, an incompatibility obviously arises as we see a dramatic, inflexible, emotional expectation coupled with a world full of fluid deadlines. The businesses in question surely aren't assholes, as is often asserted -- they're just running business as usual in SL. The customers in question surely aren't lunatics, as is asserted with similar frequency -- they're just disappointed customers with broken expectations.

From a business perspective, this is an absolutely fascinating case study. I could draw up more than one suitable action plan to resolve these problems for any interested business -- feel free to PM if you'd like to work out the terms of such consultation.

Point being, there's a disconnect here that isn't really necessary. I'm intrigued by the repetition of the theme.

JUst a thought, you could have done a search for this particular "drama" in forums and would have found other threads about the other prim baby factories that do not uphold their end of the bargain.

This is beginning to be a pattern, every few months people will post about a baby business and that they have not received the baby.

Personally I wouldn't even bother trying to do the whole SL "pregnancy" thing. And I don't think you will get the money back, so you are S.O.L. Sorry, but the Lindens won't step in and say, "You naughty rascal, give them their money back or give them the prim baby they ordered."

If the owner keeps putting you off, you can keep bugging them or just write it off as a shitty lesson learned.

I really don't care, it's a pattern with these businesses. Next time do a forums search before you enter into something like this so you can have an idea of what you are getting into. And to see what kind of reaction you might get from posting about it in forums.

Not much sympathy here for that. I would be pissed about the loss of L's but there isn't really anything that can be done since LL won't step in and fix it for you. So sorry.

You know what I don't appreciate? Struggling with infertility, trying to come to terms with the fact I will likely *never* have my own biological living, breathing children. That's a real downer. That's something that's really unfair.

So, if you'll excuse me, my sympathy is saved for others like me who know the pain of trying so hard to have a baby in real life and never having one. And the ones who have endured miscarriages along the way.

You know what I find belittling? Someone moaning over pixels while complaining they don't have a prim baby.

After you've gone through countless exams and bloodwork, medications and test strips, month after month of hope dashed by heartache, and the depression that followed, *then* come to me and we'll talk.

As it is, you're out about $23. That's nothing compared to the expense I've incurred in trying to have a baby. So, it could be worse.

I'm sorry you were ripped off. I am. Buyer beware, but there's nothing more to it than that.

This is an unconscionable business practice, and not good roleplaying either. No hospital or midwife would charge upfront and not come through with the service. To do this in proper roleplaying terms, there should be either of these options. Either you start paying small monthly health insurance payments and getting proper prenatal services, or you check into the hospital uninsured, deliver your baby, and get a huge bill in the mail a couple days afterward.

I'm sorry, but the lack of both proper business and role-playing behavior is inexcusable.
