A 2004 birthdate automatically qualifies you - you have been grandfathered in :)

Take that back! I mean it!

All I want to know is am I FIC or not. If I am them my whole attitude will change.

Yet another unsuccessful attempt...

Enjoy your attempts at divisiveness - if anything, they tend to unify people.

I agree Cristiano. I've rolled my eyes at the term FIC since it was first coined. From the beginning, it has been one of the most divisive terms used in the forums. Normally I give little credence to the ideas, opinions or thoughts of those that sling the term around in a disparaging manner, the OP included.

Even when I've disagreed with those the OP is trying to paint with the FIC brush, I've never attributed it to the fact they found SL earlier than most. That is simply nonsense. Those with inflated egos and the need to exercise them had them long before they joined SL, regardless of join date. To lump all earlier adopters under one divisive term (FIC) serves only to unify those that would otherwise disagree - unifying them in opposition to the ridiculous concept of an FIC and discounting whatever point the OP is trying to make.

If you have to ask, you're not.

Pretty much, anyone who is has been repeatedly and shrilly accused of same by the aforementioned crackpot.

The OP does bring up a valid point of discussion.

Should the forums allow new threads to be created by accounts sitting in camping chairs?

Most FIC are 2003 folks.

And even back in 2003, there were quiet folk who just had fun while nobody noticed.

2004 birthdate = FIC? Errr... no. Most of the population *wasn't* FIC at that time.

If you are going to have a FIC myth, it has to be at least be somewhat accurate...

Perhaps, but they really aren't needed anymore. They've outlived their usefulness to LL and the general SL population.

Untrue, I tells ya!

I mean, seriously: I am one of the "general SL population," myself, right?

And if it weren't for my daily secret meetings with [CLASSIFIED], [CLASSIFIED], and [CLASSIFIED] in that invisible skybox to the south of Parrot Island, where they pass me the necessary vial of FIC serum that my avatar requires to stave off debilitating pixel-tremors, why, I'd be completely unable to function.

(And once a week, [CLASSIFIED] even throws in a clever little hypodermic rig that she designed, so I can more easily inject the stuff. And the plunger is, OMG, decorated with a Hello Kitty! Muy kawaii!)

I'd say that smacks pretty heavily of "usefulness," Cow Hand ...

That's the beauty of the FIC myth. In 2008, the 2006'ers will be FIC.

I want to propose a new ingame feature so can toggle off even seeing people in camping chairs. Though when think about success rate of new features lately... can we request one the FIC members design and code the feature?

So while your opinion is indeed your opinion, it hardly seems fair, informed, impartial, or in anyway constructive or even marginally fact-based.

Nice sentence. Might be a good signature quote.

I guess that makes the 2003-2005 FIC members - Original FICsta's or Fossil FIC or ElderFIC

No matter what the FIC may individually think (or so-called FIC because I'm not sure what the original "FIC" actually meant - but when I say FIC, I just refer to a group of "more equal than other" SL members) 27 to 29 people DO feel that its just the oldbies crying up a river because they've lost influence.

So, my point is valid and believed among non-Ficers.

Its not like its 0% as the ninnypoos would have you believe.

It doesn't provide any validity to your point - someone believing something to be true does not make it true - and it is incredibly ignorant of you to try to speak for a whole group of people and claim what their motivations are in the first place. It just proves how widespread the divisiveness of the whole FIC bullshit is.

Most oldbies don't bother with SL anymore because it sucks. Your emotional investment in SL at this stage in the game is idiotic.

Christiano's reply to this said pretty much what I would have said, so I won't bother repeating it, but I did want to just emphasize one particularly amusing little piece of lunacy in your post, and respond to it directly. Your statement "So, my point is valid and believed among non-Ficers" is such utterly brilliant nonsense, it's hard to find words for it.

Listen to what you're saying. You're asserting that you know what people who are not you think and feel, simply because you perceive them as belonging to a certain group, and then you compound the impossibility of that statement by saying that you must be right because you believe others, who also are not the people you're talking about, might agree with you. Can't you see how unbelievably silly that notion is?

Neither you nor your alleged allies are privy to the inner thoughts and feelings of anyone you're talking about, yet somehow magically you know what those thoughts and feelings are? Wow.

As if that's not enough, you have the audacity to say, "No matter what the FIC may individually think..." you have to be right. So, you know what others are thinking even if they're not thinking it. That makes sense to you? Really? Again, wow.

Come on, man. Snap out of it. The very fact that your brain was able to learn human speach demonstrates that you're smarter than that. You don't really expect anyone to believe you're that dumb, do you?

I stand by my hypothesis in my first reply to this thread (to which I notice you still haven't responded) that your only goal here is to try to get a rise out of people, not actually to discuss any kind of point. Your citing of threads that had nothing to do with what you were talking about was proof of this from the start, and your nonsensical, semi-circular logic here is further proof. If you really were that unable to make connections, you would be sitting in a room somewhere drooling into a bucket, not typing into a computer.

Again, I'm not referring to what people may have considered the "original FIC" since they existed long before I arrived her - and although I've tried to do some research I've yet to determine what actual old guard FIC is or was...

my definition of FIC is a group of people "more equal" than everybody else. It does stand to reason though that old FICers would probably be a subset of this definition.

Laughable. I'm far from dumb.

And no, I am not trying to cause divisiveness. I'm just floating the idea that SL isn't going to hell... its awesome and that a few oldbies or FIC'ers are just trying to cause a state of emergency that doesn't exist.

SL rocks.

For someone who has only been here five months you seem to have a vast perspective.

Either that or you are someone who fails to see the larger picture and makes suppositions based on his own limited experience.

I wonder which is true?

I know you're not dumb, which is why I said what I said. The logic you're using to prove your "point" however, is far from sensible, so it very much appears that you're trying to act less inteligent than you actually are in order to evoke a particular response from people.

SL rocks.

If all you wanted to do was profess your love for SL, that's all you had to say. That's a far cry though from putting words in other people's mouths, trying to pretend you know what other people are thinking, and dishing out ludicrous conspiracy theories, which is what you're doing.

No one's declaring any "state of emergency", but even if they were, so what? You know it's not true, so why even bother with it?

To go back to the threads you cited in the beginning as your evidence of this "emergency declaration", a couple people mentioned they are sick and tired of all the negativity that exists on the forums (among which I repeat, this thread would be counted), one was about disagreement over a disciplinary action, and one was from someone who felt Linden Lab should change their strategy on a few things. As I said earlier, exactly how in your mind that escalates to the level of any of those metaphors you keep throwing around ("state of emergency", "under attack", "kicked to the wayside", etc) is beyond me.

Seems to me, the only one making mountains out of mole hills here is you. Those you perceive to be "FIC'ers" are simply having the same types of discussions that have been going on for the past 3 years.
