From: Foolish Frost And yet, not a single other human being can see it. Thereby removing my main reason to do such things. Some of us like to share. Then again, when the grid is down, I go do something else. Like chitchat with ou guys on the forums, or... well... in this case work. If I had work and was not just a warm body they put into a chair on the weekends to raise the stats on the phone. Funny, I can see what you are imagining... Or am I? Maybe I'm just imagining myself and this whole universe... *opens eyes.... ZOMG! EVERYTHING IS GONE!!!*

I have to agree. The downtime sucks, why do I pay for a premium account, when I can't play? I've lost many items by reason of the updates and the downtime. A friend said "maybe, they will pay the premium account members with credits or something else" but I haven't see anything, and now? The game is again offline.

"Actually it is in there somewhere, but it has to be something like a continuous 24 hour period rather than lots of outages of 4-5 hours at a time closely together."
EXACTLY. There is no agreement for compensation for the circumstances in which we find ourselves.
Musuko.

It is for an update, to fix some exploitation. I just hope that they install the previous versions of the texture picker and the camera while they are at it.. Then they can compensate all of us premium users. Irregardles of their jolly TOS. I don't give a toss what thier TOS says.. It would be the right, the ethical, the best thing for them to do, and considering these problems have not been caused by the user / customer base. ie: griefers etc..

I am not holding my breath awaiting the ethical thing to happen since I don't look any better in that shade of blue than anyone else does. And, for the record, I really haven't found anything in 1.10 that is worth this much aggravation. Of course, I haven't been able to be in world to test it. Coincidence? Hmmm.... /me grumblefusses off to go vent & worship at my Photoshop altar

wow guys, you call this frustration? you mean in your little bourgeois life its the most frustrating thing that happend to you? I don't know exactly what my brain would like to make you endure to give you back the sense of realities? Maybe puting you to work in a salt mine for a month or two with only muddy water and hard bread for avoiding you to die from starvation. Its really disgusting me to see so much chirping about a few hours of down time.
Yeah LL could prolly say something between "we screwed up" and "we are sorry" but i guess that when they see such child talks they think "o god are we gonna lower ourself to the level of these kids?"

You want reality? Try working in the trauma / burns unit that i do.. compared to that a salt mine would be paradise.. don't you be speaking about reality in my direction at least... I come here to have nice peaceful breaks... sadly more often than not that I am not working my bunz off sticking peole together and keeping them stable.. SL seems to be down. I have been considering for sometime upgrading my lands to and island, this I can promise will never happen until LL sort out a better and more effective upgrading schedule. .. and for anyone who wants to complain about my typos / typing skills.. go for it, my fingers are permanently tired! Can you not understand that people even some of the most patient people in here have finally had enough? Some people are paying huge amounts of $ to use this. I DO think that over the last week has beenparticularly bad and that yes, LL should offer something in the way of compensation. people are actually paying for a service that they are not recieving in any proper way, shape or form.

On the other hand, I KNOW what exploit they have to fix (the texture one) so I really can't complain. It beats the disaster having that on the grid for any time would have been.

You can whine and cry all your soul, we're all frustrated about this downtime... more or less. But asking for compensation... i can't understand that ... really? Next time you go to buy say some strawberries, pay for them and ask the server to please keep them, then decline you money back.. or next time you go to your doctor.. pay first, then go in and wait for around a number of hours in his office, have you doc come in and tell you to go home... and do not ask for your money back.. or.. go to your favourite resturant.. pay for your meal up front.. even tip the waiter!.. wait for your meal to come.. wait patiently.. for hours.. be nice.. then when they come back they can tell you they are out of food and you will have to leave.. and do not ask for soem compenssation for that.. Pay for your internet service up front.. try to log into the internet... each time you try it is down.. oops down again.. "aw they are trying thier best.. I will wait".. this goes on and on.. but you are patient.. and you continue to pay your internet provider anyway.. because you are patient soul.. Your website has been down more than it has been up this week.. but that is okay.. you continue to pay and you of course do not require any compensation.. because you like to pay for things that you do not recieve.. This is something I almost certain most people would not understand.

LL is kind of 'damned if they do, damned if they don't' right now. The problems are already here, they know about it. they've had programmers going who knows how long to track them down, people are screaming inthe forums for blood and heads, and the PR is not going to be the greatest from all this. If they don't shutdown and the problem get's widespread abuse, they get accused of not doing anything. Now people are complaining that it's happening during a major event. The fact that major events happen often, and it's kind of hard to schedule around all of them for patches is beside the point. <shakes head> Aye. A better quality control could help. How about this idea: What if we have three levels of SL: The stable, beta, and alpha sites? The idea is this. The stable is the 'real' SL world. Alpha is like the preview sites we have now. Beta is a smaller, but usable world. It's run like the stable, but seperate. They give heavy discounts to land ownership tier, linden buying, and such. Nothing from Beta can enter Stable without special linden request and payment of a fee, and only if such a device is using tech that will work on Stable. This would entice a large number of people to use the systems BEFORE they reach stable, allowing tons of time to see side effects of any changes. If a person does not login to beta for a reasonable amount of time during a month, they are removed and someone else allowed to come in. All applicants to beta must be approved. Etc... Thoughts?

I Disagree
07-23-2006 07:04
From: roger Pirandello This is ridiculous....in the last 7 days, i have lost count of the down time. LL conveniently never leaves the service down long enough to compensate according to their tos...Its off for 8 hours on for 1, on for 10 hours off for 5, etc...it getting old!!!!!Real Old. here we are on the weekend once again and no service....yeah upgrades are great, but it seems once the update is tweaked and working right which takes weeks apparently, LL comes out with another update....STOP IT!!!!!!How about you always leave a beta site for those crazy about updates and a site that may not have all the updates, but WORKS, for those who care about playing the game and running their SL buisness, which at his point im sure has taking a beating this week....Its time for the lip service to stop and the service i pay for to work...believe im not paying for lip service...go ob flamer ans brown nosers, putme in my place....but no matter what you say, paying members are getting shafted!!!!Big Time. Come on LL, stop being so damn tight and compensate those who make YOUR compensation possible!!! yia Rog Shit Happens, live with it or change it but dont maon about it, and Compensation is not the answer, u forget LLs doesnt want the grid down for longer than needed as they need to make profit which while the grid is down they dont Yes LLs cocks up but then if u think about what they offer us then hey bugs happen & Im overall happy with the service that ive had theres plenty of other VRs out there if ya think u can do better than here but i doubt u can, and really for the few hours a month it is down i ask you, "Have u not got a real life as well" on days like this go and enjoy ur RL avatar as well, as will I shortly

compensation?
07-23-2006 07:13
From: Musuko Massiel "Premium Members Deserve Compensation!!!!"
Do you see documentation anywhere in your premium account terms of service that states that Lindenlabs agrees to pay compensation under such circumstances?
Musuko. of course we all could always take a 3 week break from paying into ll and hit them where it hits us lol bet something would be done then
