This is ridiculous....in the last 7 days, i have lost count of the down time. LL conveniently never leaves the service down long enough to compensate according to their tos...Its off for 8 hours on for 1, on for 10 hours off for 5, etc...it getting old!!!!!Real Old. here we are on the weekend once again and no service....yeah upgrades are great, but it seems once the update is tweaked and working right which takes weeks apparently, LL comes out with another update....STOP IT!!!!!!How about you always leave a beta site for those crazy about updates and a site that may not have all the updates, but WORKS, for those who care about playing the game and running their SL buisness, which at his point im sure has taking a beating this week....Its time for the lip service to stop and the service i pay for to work...believe im not paying for lip service...go ob flamer ans brown nosers, putme in my place....but no matter what you say, paying members are getting shafted!!!!Big Time. Come on LL, stop being so damn tight and compensate those who make YOUR compensation possible!!!

Even some sort of admission of apology would go a long way. Instead, we just get patter about 'cutting edge technology' and stuff like that.

Maybe, just maybe, the cutting edge stuff should be tested separately, and the reliable stuff that works put out in the main build that we all use. And definitely cut back on the updates, once a month when everything is known to be working, would help cut down on the inconvenience of having the service we pay for unavailable.

Here's me getting all enthusiastic about my involvement in the wiki build... and I'm just sitting here looking at the forums instead.

Now you know why I finally gave up my premium account and all my land. It just isn't worth the hassle and frustrations.

That and I can't afford it any more.

I absolutely agree...
They can either credit us with time, US$ or the equivalent in L$, they can even offer a choice of one of these. They can set up a temporary thing on our account page where we can click on whichever one we prefer. Or just do it via another secure webpage, where premium users only can log in.
I do not mind which method, but I DO think it is SERIOUSLY time for LL to start compensating premium users.

*passes buttered popcorn to Fmeh keeping the plain popcorn for herself, sits back and waits for hell to freeze over when Ll actualy does make compensation*

Of course it would happen AFTER I gave up my premium account.....

No Lewis, i personally have had enough... i would like some compensation.

I agree they should have a fully fledged beta grid, and yes once a month is a much better interval for updates.

I'm about 3 weeks with SL and yes, it is ridicoulos to me - how many frustrating offtimes I had. I downloaded at least 4 versions and none of them was without any trouble - problems with my machine and much more troubles with offtimes.

If it won't change, I will stop my premium account - or at least there should be any compensation which could be arranged easily.

I would but god just had another update for my legs....actually its a techniacly advanced knee cap. he said it worked great in Beta testing...but the reality is, it needs another update....hence no walking for me!!!! Good thing its free unlike the 40$ i kick out every month for this...

heres an analogy for you lord....
i buy a new car, im paying 5oo$ a month for it.....every other day its at the dealer for a recall....how long do you think it is before most people take it back and say keep this pos, im not paying for it anymore....NOT LONG!!!! but one thing for sure..."I'D REALLY HAVE TO TAKE A WALK THEN"

LETS HOPE GOD GETS THEM NEW AND IMPROVED KNEE CAPS TO ME

"Premium Members Deserve Compensation!!!!"

Do you see documentation anywhere in your premium account terms of service that states that Lindenlabs agrees to pay compensation under such circumstances?

Sure, I would like some kind of monetary compensation as well... but I don't see it happening.

Considering that most of the patches simply seem to contain bugfixes for what the last major update broke, there's certainly no need for so much downtime through 'planned maintenance' that screws up most Wednesdays.

I love this game, however I do despair sometimes at its unreliability.

Actually it is in there somewhere, but it has to be something like a continuous 24 hour period rather than lots of outages of 4-5 hours at a time closely together.

So after 23½ hours, opening the grid for 10 minutes then closing it again for 23½ hours and repeat would not qualify us for any compensation whatsoever, even if only 10 people manage to log in during that time the grid is available.

It's well worded to pretty much excuse them from having to do the decent thing.

tos states if the site is down for 24 hours consectutive, which LL insures doesnt happen, EVER!!!!They will pop it up for 30 to an hour and take it right back down. Then they are still within their tos guidelines....

Seeing as the service has been down several times this week, for several hours at a time, that would be a great way to either lose a lot of weight or die from heat exhaustion.

Haven't you guys read the line on the front page that says "Your world, your imagination."? Let me explain to you what that means:
1- turn PC off.
2- close eyes.
3- imagine your world...

see? No down time. No griefers, unless you want them, then you can orbit their ass to the next galaxy without getting banned yourself. Infinite prim allocation. NO TIER FEES. All the pixel slapping you can imagine... need I say more?

Luckily for them they are still the only game in town
07-23-2006 05:21
This reminds me of the old cam site days. there was the original that i wont name. And they were the only game in town. yes they grew and updated and updated etc. Of course member wanted compensation for their monthly premium for site downtime, which was quite often. not unlike here. No go, it just didnt happen. Guess what, new cam sites began to emerge with all the same features and then some. i found one i liked and joined as a lifetime charter member. no fees ever again fo me...but the point of this is, the new sight compensated members with a month free when they had to much downtime in a paticular time span....didnt help me , im lifetime, but it went miles with those who did pay monthly.....you may wonder what happened to the original and first cam site....its still up but with a fraction of the members...like a virtual ghost town.

the moral of the story is, you take care of the hand that feeds you, if you dont someone else will come along that will....and believe me it wont be long before some Sl type games start showing up all over the net...not like SOL, but games exactly like SL , who knows maybe even better .

1.6 Second Life is subject to scheduled and unscheduled service interruptions. All aspects of the Service are subject to change or elimination at Linden Lab's sole discretion.

Linden Lab reserves the right to interrupt the Service with or without prior notice for any reason or no reason. You agree that Linden Lab will not be liable for any interruption of the Service, delay or failure to perform, and you understand that except as otherwise specifically provided in Linden Lab's billing policies posted at http://secondlife.com/corporate/billing.php, you shall not be entitled to any refunds of fees for interruption of service or failure to perform. Linden Lab has the right at any time for any reason or no reason to change and/or eliminate any aspect(s) of the Service as it sees fit in its sole discretion.

6. Under certain circumstances, you may receive service credit for unscheduled downtime.

You will be eligible to receive Service Credit toward recurring service fees (e.g. monthly account fees, 90 Day account fees, annual account fees, and Land Use Fees) for Unscheduled Downtime. "Unscheduled Downtime" is an unplanned or unscheduled interruption in Service availability for a period of at least twenty-four (24) hours during which you are unable to access the Service. Unscheduled Downtime is measured from the end of the time the Service is 100% unreachable for a period of at least twenty-four (24) hours until Service is once again restored. The following are excluded from the calculation of Unscheduled Downtime: (i) scheduled maintenance downtime; (ii) problems outside of our Service (upstream providers, or your inbound connection) not affecting 100% loss to our Service; (iii) interruptions or failure of Service caused by you or your representatives (including inaccurate configuration, third-party software, abuse or over-utilization of resources, hacked servers, attacks, exploits, or server hardware failures); and (iv) causes beyond Linden Lab's reasonable control and occurring without Linden Lab's fault or negligence, including natural disasters, wars, terrorist acts, riots or other violent upheaval, governmental restrictions and actions, and performance failures of a third party outside Linden Lab's control. The amount of any Service Credit will be based on the pro rata percentage of Unscheduled Downtime during your billing cycle (e.g., if there is 1 day of Unscheduled Downtime in a 30-day month for your monthly account, you will receive a Service Credit for 1/30th of your recurring service fees). Any Service Credit will be credited to you during your next billing cycle.

http://secondlife.com/corporate/billing.php

I take what is stated where I bolded it to mean that as long as a Linden can access the grid then it is not shut down completely. Which of course means there will be no compensation ever. Nice of LL.

The funny thing is I posted a "compensation" related topic last week. All the flamers, fan-boys, and brown-nosers came out of the woodwork like so many termites and lambasted me me.
Seems like the mood has since changed a bit, huh?

And yet, not a single other human being can see it. Thereby removing my main reason to do such things.

Some of us like to share.

Then again, when the grid is down, I go do something else. Like chitchat with ou guys on the forums, or... well... in this case work. If I had work and was not just a warm body they put into a chair on the weekends to raise the stats on the phone.
