that still went to event costs and payroll for my employees.
Hold on.
I'm confused.
It's just a game. Why bother paying your employees? I mean, why should their expectation of payment matter if this is just a game?

Furthermore, as Second Life goes to the Metaverse, and this becomes an open platform, Linden Lab risks lawsuit in court and [attachment culling] will, I repeat WILL be reverse in court. Second Life Forums: Who needs Reason when you can use bold tags? |

In other games you divide up the loot and exp with your team members, this is no different. |

I will say one thing. You absolutely need to pay the money, and in game you should definetly sell off land/objects/etc if you need to do make ends meet. But I do *not* condone putting oneself in hock IRL over this. "Sell your television"? "Get a loan from the bank"? Nuh-uh. Seriously. Priorities people. RL comes first. Always. Game or platform or thingie, SL has a bunch of humans interacting here. I see no reason to drop the rules of human interaction becasue of the medium. Ron made a promise - to pay a jackpot of play moneys if the person playing the game he provided risked a small amount of play money and had a certain pattern appear on the game. That promise was made to another human being. Now, Ron failed to fulfil this promise. It was a mistake, an error, nothing evil - no one can call Ron a thief. But, Ron is still responsible to that promise. He obviously understood that, since he was willing to find some way within his means to get his debt paid. I judge people not by the mistakes they make, instead by how they handle them - and Ron's first reaction to discoverig his mistake was laudable. Personally, I would have hocked my TV. Not because I think SL is "serious business" (it isn't), but because I belive my word is serious business. _____________________

This thread is becoming laughable, we've answered the question, 73 out of 85 forum go-ers believe you should give the money back, I was to understand you did.
Whether SecondLife is a game or not, I believe, is specific to the player, I don't play/use it as a game, therefore its not.. Anyway who does, it probably is a game to them, while this may be a problem when they cross over, theres no point in arguing about it.. Its like arguing whether something is fun or not or what music is good.. Different people have different opinions, and their opinions are true to themselves.. Morally, the poll has shown, its the right thing to do to pay her the money. Legally you could just leave it, if all you want to do is cover your back. But as you came to the forums to ask the right thing to do, I don't believe thats all you want. Anyway.. Just my L$0.2.. _____________________

Apperantly someone doesn't read all the posts, I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO SPEND ON THE LINDEX TO PAY HER! What you need to do is work out a repayment plan with her. If she's reasonable than she'll understand the fact that you are currently broke in both RL and on SL and that her payment will have to be paid in part now and more later. If it makes her feel better you should put down collateral on the repayment - such as possibly a stake in your land holdings worth the same as the payout. You need to go to a neutral third party who will enforce the agreement on both sides. Short of having judges in SL, something I'm strongly for, it's the only way to resolve the situation peacefully on both sides. |

For the record...I voted yes..pay the lady.
If you don't have the money now, you should pay her as soon as you do. Just to make it right. Hopefully you don't have anymore slots just lying around. MJ ![]() _____________________

Actually thats what I was trying to do, but it wasn't good enough for her and she turned around and started threatening me & had one of her friends harass me ingame wich is uncalled for in any situation. I was raised on the princible you be respectful in situations like these or you can end up in the gutter waiting for a body bag so I took offence to these actions. Not once did I get nasty with her, I remained civil through the whole convo and tried to be helpful but she just didn't care for my situation. If you look 2 pages back you'll see that I paid her already thanks to a loan a friend gave me after I told them about what happened. Somehow I even recieved some donations from people who understood my situation and I've used that money to pay back my friend for the loan. So I'm officially debt free on this. I'm still being told left and right from friends that I should AR them both and I did AR her for her conduct. I'm leaving her friend be because I know the feeling behind watching your friends' backs and I don't hold a grudge against him for doing so. |

She threatened me while I was trying to work with her to resolve the situation. I dunno about you, but I consider that disrespectful. Gee, she was upset at you trying to weasel out of your debt? Let's go to vegas, win a big jackpot, and have Vegas say "i'll give you a slot machine instead", and see how long it takes before people move to call some sort of authority to enforce the law of the land. I think it's pretty obvious by your tone that you don't intend to pay her. So you just made this thread to try and justify not doing so, sorry we don't see it that way. _____________________
