I would like to know why you all went out of your way to help one person promote their proposal, but have not done the same for anyone else. One of the lindens went as far as listing several resources that one could click that would support and backup one individual.

This is totally unfair.

When I had my Pin-point teleporting proposal, not a single linden offered a positive comment on it nor did they fill a post with good links that support my proposal.

Linden Labs, its time for you to get back on the fence and be neutral. You did not help anyone elses post like you did this one individuals, I call that totally unfair.

They might have been already working on it. They were not allowed to say anything because of land speculation.

If we have point to point teleporting now - isn't this a moot issue?

If I recall there were a zillion and one different proposals for the same thing too - now that it's in - shouldn't everyone that wanted it be happy?

I don't think there is any pleasing some people.

Whats the difference between your teleporting proposal and what we already have in place? And what proposal did the Lindens promote?

Torley does that often, not just for one person, and it's a good thing. We're lucky to have a Linden who bridges the chasm between LL and us. Look it as the positive is, a sign that LL is paying attention, talking to us. There seems to have been a concerted effort in the last month on LL's behalf to communicate more effectively with the residents.

Just don't imagine they can get around to everyone's post, everyone's proposal in this way, you just wouldn't employ the number of staff you'd need for that, it's not realistic. They're going to have to use judgement, as anyone would in a job, about where to most effectively spend time and resources.

People seem to waver back and forth about whether LL should 'get off the fence'. If it's bush signs, then LL should step in and take a stand. Other times it's 'hey LL, hands off'. Either way, this is not a conspiracy, it's just choosing to find negatives even in the positive.

Edit: While I was posting this, Torley responded to four threads, and in one posted a link, a "resource" for someone, in another, advised of a community round-table.

The star chamber was what we had before the FIC. Magnum came up with it :P

He's talking about my privacy proposal - and fails to notice that Torley linked to 13 separate pages talking about privacy in SL, of which ONE was mine. Magnum's just sad because I don't agree with him most of the time; he also cancelled Jennyfur and my Modify Rights on his objects (although I didn't ever known I had them, or there were any objects to modify!). I'm not sure what kind of statement that was, but clearly he's got an axe to grind. :)

-Flip

The OP has also been around long enough that he should really know its "Linden Lab" and not "Linden Labs." After two and a half years, I think you can start to call people on that. zOMG Star Chamber!

Name change
05-03-2006 06:44
They did a whole big hoo ha about the name changes to. Town halls and that stuff.

I've got a proposal up above the 500 required and haven't heard a peep from a Linden about it. There's a handful over 500 and not a word..

I guess Torley just really wanted privacy or something. *shrugs*

I don't ever expect to see much action from the feature voting. It looks like the few things they have put in were either in before and yanked (P2P teleporting), or stuff they already said they were working on when they put in feature voting. I think feature voting was just their way of getting us to stop bugging the actual Lindens LOL.

Although Magnum used the phrase, he did not come up with it (unlike FIC which was an original phrase). The Star Chamber did exist:

Privacy in SL will become more and more important as people try to run businesses in sl and more and more organizations come on board. We'll need features that let us "work" in sl without being constantly accessible. Having the ability to change your name is a nice idea but won't have the profound impact on people's experience that improved privacy settings would.

I'm thinking he got it from the 1983 film with Michael Douglas and that hack Hal Holbrook. Whatever it's all about, it's pretty amusing.

Interestingly enough, 1983 was the year of my senior prom, and I boycotted it along with many other kids because we felt there was a Star Chamber in our high school. I am glad I quit thinking that way a long time ago, or else I would still be stuck entertaining the Sanchos of the world, like some of the more illustrious SLers we are treated to.

Not only that - Antarctica is a fraud. The "researchers" that "go" there are really being used in hybrid human/alien cloning experiments, run by top level secret gov't agencies from around the world, who are working in conjunction with the Venus People.

Ha! Great story on the prom. :)

My hunch is Magnum saw an episode of Babylon 5 called "A Spider in the Web":

Captain Sheridan: "For the past six years, there have been rumors about a...rogue agency operating deep inside Earth gov. A dirty tricks squad dealing in black projects and Star Chamber justice. It took me over three years just to get the name: Bureau 13. And the man who gave me that name died soon after. I am convinced that they exist and that they are behind this incident."

Shall we start a Bureau 13 group in SL? Or is it already there, zOMG!

Michi, thanks for the compliment! :)

Regards,

-Flip

Getting Linden Lab to implement your feature request is all about timing and public support.
