You know you've been spending too much time in SL when... :)

When you're at work in RL, and you find yourself thinking you should take yourself and your laptop "up to the skybox", because you just know the laptop would run so much better at 500 Meters or higher...

When you are sitting in a traffic jam - and note two more strip malls under constructions, and you think "damm, more lag".

You've spent way too much time in SL when you answer to your SL name in RL.

When you want to smash your head into your monitor after seeing the title of this thread.

You know you've been playing too much SL when you go back to your 1L and notice that...

...SL is looking more like your 1L everyday, with the piling bills and dropping economy.
...You drive your car and don't instantly crash into a house due to lag.
...Your body doesn't disappear when you wake up.
...Clothes remain in your closet, and can always be retrieved any time you wish.
...Child abuse is actually child abuse.
...You swivel your head around and don't remain frozen in place for 5-8 seconds.
...1L seems to run just fine on any hardware, fat or thin, tall or short.
...You don't have to worry about minor patches that are supposed to just fix one small thing and end up erasing your city block.

And so on.

Ok now i get to clean up the water i just spilt all over my desk laughing at that one. If I left SL occasionally and brushed the dust off my car to drive it I'm fairly sure I'd have a thought like that. *sighs*

Weirdest thing with that for me is I have a habit of looking to the upper-right and then to the lower-right, where the Windows taskbar time is. It's almost like a doubletake, only more vertical!

Wow.. this is only my third. But to answer the OP, I know I'm spending too much time in SL when I dream about it.

When you initially read the above as "one linden dollar".

I focus my eyes on things and think "AltZoom".

I'd buy that for a Linden?

Packing to move in RL and find myself almost writing on boxes: "Q's Books, Q's CD's, Q's This, Q's That"....my real name doesn't even come remotely close to starting with or even containing the letter "Q".

When you have the classic naked in public dream. Except it's your avi that's naked...

you know you spent too much time in SL when you take an appointment to the hair dresser to go "buy" a new haircut (I -really- said it actually )

...when you can't tell the difference between an abhorrent real life crime and two adults pixelslapping?

When I go to buy real life shoes, and don't even think of the size, because I can just stretch them out.

Party at a crowded rock concert & hey, the time dilation here isn't so bad after all!

Go up to an ATM in real life & type /100/balance instead of your pin.

You know when...
1. you realise that everything around you is physical.
2. your house starts coming apart IRL and you blame LL for it.
3. your car breaks down and you look in the glove box for it's script to see what went wrong.
4. you look at a high sky scraper and think 'damn thats a lot of prims!
5. you wake up in the morning and everythings all grey.
6. you try to watch TV and notice a Q logo on it.
7. you try to sub divide your RL land and you cant see the property lines.
8. your walking your dog and notice it's legs actually move.
9. your on the roof of a building and you see a store you want to shop in so you try to fly to it. UH OH!
10. you smack into a wall and wander why it hurts.
11. you get shot and you DON'T fly acrost the planet or into the moon.
12. a burgler enters your home and you shout /8ADDTOBAN!
13. people stare at you cuz you keep repeating "YIFFY!" and backflipping.
14. You notice a crowd of people so you go to them and start dancing and change clothes in front of them.
15. you notice your genetals are not detachable. and you dont nead scripts to make it work. you nead pills instead. <EDIT> or the internet</edit>

You cant find your mute list.

and theirs no home point to TP to. and no TPing!

I've done this one before.

Was talking to my RL fiancee and tried to indicate that I thought a storm was coming. She looked at me like I'd lost my mind. After a moment, I realized I was standing with my arm bent funny behind me and aimed to the sky, palm out, honestly expected her to see a trail of white dots pointing at the cloud I was talking about.

Here's my contribution:

...when the concept of pennies suddenly becomes confusing, because you forgot currency had decimals.

...when you point at things with the palm of your hand.

...when you try to "spin" a screenshot on the SL website by holding alt and using an arrow key.

...when you forget to budget in groceries because you forgot that, IRL, you have to eat.

...you see a ball in a toy store, half-red half-blue, and wonder what the hell an xCite poseball is doing in a children's toy store.

Edit:...you buy the ball, sit on it, and are disappointed with the results.

...you look at your furniture and start counting prims.

...you ask a barbor for "prim hair".

...you actually WANT to wear the chicken suit the guy in front of that car dealership is wearing.

...every night at 8PM, wherever you are, you strip.

...you arrive at a nightclub at noon, wondering why it's closed.

...you start using terms like "dom" or "sub" to describe RL people.

...you spin around looking for scantily clad women when someone says "those girls are Korean".

...you fuck up and defend ageplay in polite company.

...you go to a club and everyone looks scared, and you realize you learned to dance by watching your avatar.
