We Shouldn't Be Charged For Classifieds!

In rl I'm a single mom and a student, don't have much money as it is, I play sl cause right now I can't do much in rl. There are people paying over a hundred a week to be number 1 in the classifieds, I can't afford to post my park or my store in the classifieds, I'm paying over a 100 a month for my avie and land fee's and now I'm suppose to pay even more to post in classifieds which gets me absolutely no business at all, I could see if it was a reasonable rate. Why can't they have events calendar for people who are having games and contest and another events calendar for people who are having sales and want people to know about it. With out the sale of my clothes I can't afford to even play sl. So this not posting events is causing people like me who don't have much money in rl to not be able to enjoy the game fully. I just can't afford to be here, and its no fun if I can't create and sale things with out being charged my life savings.

I did a random-sample survey of our new customers over several weeks and what I found is that 90% found us on the Find tab. This tells me that the search words I use are working.

The few who used the Classifieds certainly did not do it on who was listed first, since we pay the minimum $L 50 fee. I've seen posts on the forums about how some people like to sort the Classifieds from lowest --> highest with the idea that advertising fees are passed on to the customer (true!).

I don't know if you sell from your land or from a rental space, but I'd encourage you to use the Find option first. If you do rent, then run the minimum classified ad and make sure that you have an excellent picture and that your search terms hit the spot.

Lastly, the New Products section of the forums gives us the absolutely best return on time invested and it's free. Whenever I post a new item I see a spike in our sales on everything.

I pay the minimum fee for classifieds. And on the rare occasion where I use them to find anything I do them from lowest price to highest price.

I use the classifieds all the time and update them when mt week expires, I have never paid more than the $L50 minimum, nor do I see any need to. And I do not think they should be free...

It;s the same as in real life .. you post a d to sell some thing in the news paper like the Nickle .... ect .. there is a proce you have to pay ... to get it going ....

And as a Business point of veiw .. you always spending XXXX amout of dollars for Ads on newpapers, magizines , bill baords this is true with sl ....

this is what makes the wolrd go around or .. not no matter of how much you make ... im not that weathly but dont complain ... if i want some thing a wait and pay for it ... this is just life ....

Advertising is a cost of doing business. Some use advertising and do well; some use advertising and see no help from it. Some businesses don't advertise and do just fine. If advertising isn't working, as you said, then simply don't do it. What's the problem?

SL is a platform not entertainment, and thus nobody is entitled to have a good time being in world. They must produce content to sustain entertainment. If you want to have product, make money, or buy it. If you want to have advertising the classifieds cost. Pay your dues like everyone else. If you can't afford to play SL there are other games you can play for less each month. If fact for what you are spending on SL you could play several other MMO's.

Read the forums, SL is not a game, and game players are not wanted here. Captialism is all that is holy, and this silly notion that you want to play SL as entertainment must be stamped out. For you own goos stop whining about entitlements and get a job. The forums do not want you and the other casual players, we want only those who get that SL is a platform.

Classifieds used to be free, but now cost a minimal amount. Its not much and represents a simple buying process while providing an economic sink.

Its 50L of money in a game, its really not worth complaining about. Besides, I usually invert the list so the 50L payers are on top, I don't let people buy my traffic.

edit: the forums might not want those who see th game as a game, but Linden Labs sure does.

50L = 16.5 cents. Dig deep in the couch cushions, I think you'll find it there

I'm a shopaholic, but I rarely check the classifieds. It's usually the same styled stuff everyone else has anyway. I know what I want, and Find will tell me where it is. If you're not getting enough business, maybe your product is the problem.

Of course you should pay for classified ads. They're ads. Why on earth should they be free?

I get surprised of how many people pay over 30,000L to have the name of their business on the top. But, the least I look is the one on the top. I usually click the button and go from lowest to highest. I see more.

Classified should not be free just like many say here. I mean, we all like free stuff however good that we have to pay or we would see the most awful and nonsense classified just people putting awful classified.

Now, before classiffied I always go to FIND, ALL and type whatever and click search. Easy steps. Classified usually dont come out on the find search unless there are words in the actual title of the classified, not in the description because I tried today and nothing came out. But when I added key words on my title it came out quit.

I do enjoy looking at classified and see what people have out there. But I really dont understand what would make such a difference to pay 30,000L and 50L. It is still on the list, people do scroll down.

Is that maybe to show they have all that money? lol Well I dont have lindens to throw away like that. Actually I have gone to those places and they are usually empty... wow! sure does 30,000 is making a difference... NOT!
