It also helps to close every other application running on your system while you do a video capture, otherwise you may get some image stuttering (you can see a little stuttering on my movie.)
It is also important to remove all wings and tutus, as these can get caught in the machinery, leading to injury and/or hurt feelings.

Wow, that was really cool... I love seeing educational things that aren't dry and dull. Lovely music, too. Beautifully done. :)
Very nicely done! :) Love it, pretty voice too (not sure if that's actually your voice Aimee).

This is most excellent. Imagine it being screened on the teen grid next to a working, walkthrough model. Teachers could let school children log in with the class av and wander through...dreaming.

It is just plain WOW!
it is this sort of thing that keep bringing me back to SL..the Possibilities that are here
This movie was outstanding!
my ONLY complaint..is that
Ms Aimee would NOT let me film a sci fi space monster epic useing her solar system after she was done!

Whenever life gets you down, Mrs. Brown,
And things seem hard or tough,
And people are stupid, obnoxious or daft,

And you feel that you've had quite enough,

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And reolving at nine thousand miles an hour.
It's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
'Round the sun that is the source of all our power.
Now the sun, and you and me, and all the stars that we can see,
Are moving at a million miles a day,
In the outer spiral arm, at fourteen thousand miles an hour,
Of a galaxy we call the Milky Way.

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred million stars;
It's a hundred thousand light-years side to side;
It bulges in the middle sixteen thousand light-years thick,
But out by us it's just three thousand light-years wide.
We're thirty thousand light-years from Galactic Central Point,
We go 'round every two hundred million years;
And our galaxy itself is one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.

Our universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding,
In all of the directions it can whiz;
As fast as it can go, that's the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth;
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth!

It's a '78, actually... like the blue and green 2" shag carpet that I lined the whole van with... for soundproofing?

Nitpicking the music.
12-22-2005 08:43
First of all, the overall film was very impressive. It's a testament to Aimee and the platform that such a thing is possible.

Now on to the music:

The short Gloria from the Rachmaninov Vespers (I assume the Shaw recording) was an interesting choice. I wouldn't have thought of it, but it works.

I didn't recognize the middle one.

The one that drove me nuts was as mars popped into view and we hear, from the Holst Planets --- Mercury. ARGGGH :) (as Claude swoons from the cognitive disconnect). I suppose that's the danger of using program music in an altered context and someone knows the original program, it just doesn't fit.

This sort of Sol-centric view of the universe smacks of the same ideological bias and cultural nearsightedness that results in world maps that always show North America in the center.

The inhabitants of other galaxies are not amused. :rolleyes:

Calm yourself Suezanne! You completely missed the point. This movie was a tactical analysis for the impending invasion. LONG LIVE THE ALPHA CENTAURI!

I knew those aren't just cute little wings you slapped on, they are a intricate communication device to enslave all the butterflies to do your evil bidding.
