I liked in particular the way 'Mercury, the Winged Messenger' was arranged in such a way that it reached its climax as we approached the sun. Very effective.

I liked it... it was put together really well. The pacing and the amount of description given were a good choice.

The scenes with the Sun must have been filmed at a different angle, or different technique, there was a distinct change in how things moved across the screen at that point.

I didn't want to say anything about the information being outdated when I first saw it or in other threads, because the movie really does deserve more praise than criticism, even the constructive kind. But I couldn't help noticing the out of date information being used in something made with the newest technology. Pluto isn't really a planet... or on the other hand there is a tenth planet. The tenth planet, it turns out, even has a moon. I just wish they'd hurry up and officially announce the name of it already.

The problem is Pluto's status as a planet seems to be under dispute and most sources I have read indicate it will likely always be referred to as a planet if only for sentimental reasons :D And as you said, little is known about the tenth planet including it's NAME!

In the face of these uncertainties I decided to stick with the conventional model.

I was really surprised this all took place in the SL engine. The movement was all very grand and smooth. I, too, wouldn't mind seeing a Making Of...

You're a broad of manifold talents, Aimee, I was pleasantly surprised to see you tackle this subject. Bravo. :)

Great way to start the morning :)

I loved it, brava!

By the way, who is the musical soundtrack by? I'm sure I should probably know it but I'm at a loss this morning.

*hugs*

Yes I felt the same. A really impressive movie, loved it. There was a couple of things I wanted to say but stopped myself. But there is one itch I just have to scratch, and I can't help but ask. What happened to Venus' atmosphere :D

Aimee, it's efforts like this that makes SL the best that it can be. Thank you for reminding me why I'm here.

I wanted to give public kudos as well. This video should be put on every video iPod and PSP we have in the community :)

I've already showed it to a number of my multi-media publisher friends as an example of using SL for multi-media. Imagine a CDROM that accompanies a biology text-book. That little 10 second 3D spinning DNA model costs publishers thousands of dollars.

Aimee, that was absolutely amazing!

i can't really say much more than has been said.. the pacing, the music, the scale, the chosen amount of information.. even atmospheres are there!

superb.. absolutely superb.

this could (and should) definitely be used to show-off SL. hopefully a copy has been sent to LL? it would be awesome to see projects like this included should LL decide to make new promo discs to hand out to people. (i recently got my 10 discs to share.. you know, the 1.6 ones.. lol)

Heh, watched it with my kids in the movie theater in Midnight City a week or so ago. My 10 yr old said it helped her on a test at school. Thanks Aimee :)

*Hugs BACK!* There were 3 songs in this movie:

Vespers: Glory To God In The Highest
The Storm (From Bram Stoker's Dracula)
Mercury, The Winged Messenger (Holst)

I really appreciate the kinds words (AND the constructive criticism!) These two quotes nearly brought tears to my eyes:

On the blog of a bigwig AI expert, some dude was just talking about Aimee's movie in comparison to machinima created in "The Movies":

Well done, Aimee. Very cool stuff. I look forward to your next vid.

Personally, I can't think of anything sexier than a girl who directs machinima. How many hot dates do you have lined up this weekend. I found this great sim the other day. Gorgeous views. How about a picnic. We could ummm compare techniques. :)

Keep up the great work.

Yeah yeah. I am sure my freind aimee already knows how I feel about the movie. But I wil add my congradulations to aimee weber, the icon, for a phenomenal job. Oh and pint out that prior to reading this thread, aimees voice was just aimee's voice. But as think about it, she sort of sounds like Linus, in charlie brown christmas special.

Only much sexcier lol.

I used a video capture program called Fraps. You can find Fapps here:

http://www.fraps.com/

It also helps to close every other application running on your system while you do a video capture, otherwise you may get some image stuttering (you can see a little stuttering on my movie.)
