I feel one of the most beloved things about this film is the pacing. How smooth, like one of those coffees I can't remember the name of. I haven't felt this sort of astronomical stride since watching the beginning of Star Trek: The Next Generation, or perhaps as a tip of the hat, Carl Sagan's Cosmos. It's kind of like Aimee was holding my hand and showing me the planets without jerking me along, nor was she boring me to death. I think that's a beautiful thing, like an asteroid hurtling through outer space and then coming down, crashing down to Planet Earth, and landing just outside of your house. This results in much wonder and amazement for your family, while not incurring any losses of human life. And that is very beautiful.

I agree Torley!

It reminded me very much of something that was on the BBC a while ago.. Let me look for it.......

Space with Sam Neil

Ok it looks cheesy as heck, but it was pretty good, I should get the DVD..

From the Dictionary of Phrases:
"Condemnation by faint praise" : [...] Example: "Beats Billys by a mile" "

Wow, that was really cool... I love seeing educational things that aren't dry and dull. Lovely music, too. Beautifully done. :)

I <3 zooming by the rings of Saturn. The butterfly girl herself told me they were made of, and I quote, "thousands of prims."

THOUSANDS!!!!!!! THOUSANDS, I SAY!

Oh, and I happen to know that she lies on the voiceover. She says Earth is her home planet. But Earthlings don't have butterfly wings on their backs.

I know. I met some once.

I wanted to see Shoemaker-Levy 9 break up and plunge into Jupiter.

Or maybe miss it and hit the Earth.

How cool!

Its strange how I've built up a 'voice' for you in my head from the forums, but when I heard the real thing, it wasn't what I'd expected.

...in a good way :)

I think Travis imagined me sounding like James Earl Jones.

Actually, there's more than one. Sedna, and then this one that they have nicknamed Xena until they decide what to call it...

Excellent job, Aimee.

I remember a poster and, of all the silly things, a trash can, with the solar system on them that I had as a child. I loved my solar system educational items, I wish I still had them. Your video reminds me of the curious child I was long ago.

I'm still fairly curious, though perhaps in a different sense.

I don't suppose we could luck out and see a "The Making Of ..."" - I'm sure I would find that interesting too.

Hehe well many would argue we have in fact only 8 planets, and that Pluto is just the largest of a bunch of objects that orbit in a region known as the Kuiper belt. :D
