For the first time in SL history, we want to change Immaculate's pg rating to mature.

In order to make this request to our honored Lindens we must show that we are in agreement.

Please respond to this request with the statement below as soon as possible. This will be a ground breaking event if we can make our voices heard. Lets open the doors to real voting and pave the way to future decisions in which our imput counts!

Sincerely,
Misty Rhodes

We the Residents of Immaculate hereby request that our beloved home be changed to a Mature Area.

Doesnt anyone else find the fact that IMMACULATE could be mature a little ironic?

Immaculate seems to work pretty well for me as it is, but Im certainly open to it given fairly good reasons for the change in status. If it were a matter of someone wanting to open yet another adult entertainment facility I'd have to say there are already quite a few in nearby sims.

I'm with David on this.

I've got nothing against mature rated sims, and, sure, naked pagan rites in a stone circle are always fun. But I'm not sure I see a compelling reason to change Immaculate's rating.

I knew it was PG when I moved in and I'm still okay with that.

Anyone want to say WHY the rating should be changed?

I vote YES on a mature rating.

Why? The location I am in is mostly residential, and I want to be able to do and say "mature" things in my own home. Maybe invite the neighbors over for some unrestricted fun. Things like that.

In reply to those questioning my reasoning behind changing Immaculate to a mature area:

I am an adult and wish to act in an adult fashion in my own home. I am a very active resident and love my second life and wish to be able to act without restriction. Those of you that will say live in a Mature sim.... well there aren't enough and I could not find enough public land to start a neighborhood with my friends. So I ask that before you pre-judge my motives or intentions you stop by my home and meet my friends and see what we are trying to do here in Immaculate. Then ask around about me and you will find I am fair, nice and well liked with a good reputation. Then if you still don't want to vote in favor at least it will be an informed decision.

But I rather like the fact that we are attempting to do something here in Immaculate that has never been done before.

I have brought many friends to Immaculate in order to be able to socialize and have fun.

I brought the Spencer sisters here who host many events including Bingo in our land called Immaculate.

I am disheartened that some accuse my tatics to be of a suspicious nature. Those of you who have met me and know me know I go out of my way to help others and always give noobs a good start in the game. I take pride in my reputation here in SL.

So I hope you that are in doubt will investigate a bit more before condemning an honest attempt at making some SL history here.

Sincerely,
Misty Rhodes

Well, appart from the whole making second life history thing I just want to feel comftable opening my mouth without the worry that someone will find what I say offencive for whatever reason.
Not that I go about screaming insults or anything but it's the feeling of having to be carefull of what you're saying that bugs me a lot.
And on another note there simply aren't enough mature sims to go around.

We're not trying to open up a sex industry or anything like that, and if you'll take the time to meet us you'll find that we are all friendly people who mean no harm.

We're just a group of people who wanted to live together in one sim, and there whasn't enough space left in the existing mature sims. (I originaly settled in Hawthorne but moved to Immaculate because that's where all my friends went)

I have to vote no to changing the rating of the sim for the same reasons as David and Jay. I don't see a compelling case for doing so.

I think those of you who know me know that I am anything but a prude and also chose a PG sim for my residence. No conduct that anyone has ever done in Immaculate has ever offended me nor is it likely to. In fact the only SL conduct that has yet to offend me is being shot in safe zones (when I didn't request it).

There is photography of my own that I cannot formally display in my home (art nudes - in case you were wondering). I do, however fear that changing the "zoning" of Immaculate brings the risk of making another Jessie which I would gladly sacrifice some liberties to avoid.

I have discussed this with you in game, Misty and I do respect you and you are indeed a generous person. I unfortunately have to respectfully disagree. I am however, as always, open to discussion on the subject.

I'll vote for a yes

Hey there everyone i'd like to say some thing about changing the sim from PG to M.

I think a good point to actually be against the changing would be that it would change the sim in ways we wouldn't want, like Malachi said, another Jessie is surely not what we're looking for. However, i think i know about 80% of the people living in immaculate and i'm quite sure it won't change into something like that, the main reason for changing it would be to feel free.
A better way to express yourself might be THE reason for doing it.
I respect people if they say no to this, but do know that it's most likely because you'll say "PEOPLE will do this and that" but the thing is, you know most of these people so would you still think such a thing will happen?

One point that should be made is that Immaculate is already VERY close to full. Believe me, I spent quite a bit of time yesterday finding a SMALL rectangle that I could grab, and even at that it's underwater...

So, the residents are established, and for the most part know each other. I sincerely doubt that a M rating would change much of importance.

It WILL allow us to chat without having to watch every word in case some kid is wandering by.

It will allow us to flirt, cuss a bit, tell a dirty joke, and basically do things that adults do...

This has my YAY vote! Make us rated "M"

Well, as I said, I'm really neither for a change nor against it. Gibson does seem to have had no problems since they went from PG to M, certainly. Personally, I've been far more offended and even shocked by some of the clothing I've seen ( Ku Klux Klan robes, extreme bondage rigs, Nazi uniforms, et c ) than I ever have been by seeing the hardly prurient naked AVs or hearing a few mild obscenities. I guess I'd have to abstain with the hope that Immaculate does not become too commercialized, as so many of the existing mature areas seem to be.

Immaculate Mature
10-29-2003 17:06
I moved to Immaculate after looking for a spot for home and I referred my friends into here and they are referring theirs..I came from another chat and was thrilled to be here..all the mature areas I tried to build in like Federal, Shipley and Da boom had full server..so I chose Immaculate, several of the people I reffered left because of the lack of area for us to all be in that's Mature. We all came from an adult chat and several people are members of online BDSM communities. I like Immaculate and would like to stay...please make it mature..thanks <sitting on the fence>

my two cents..
10-29-2003 17:17
I do not think or do I expect that everyone here would agree about changing the rating. It is however my hope that we will ALL make our decision based on the facts as they are not on what assumptions we may have for OR against changing Immaculate's rating.
I will not assume anything about anyone nor will I presume to speak for anyone else when I say that my reasons for wanting the change are similar to reasons previously stated in this discussion:
1. There simply aren't enough Mature Sims with enough available land for myself & my friends to remain together in the same neighborhood. I can't tell you how good it feels to be standing on my land & look over to see one of my neighbors & friends.
2. I am a very candid person at times & really find it restraining that I could potentially (accidentally) offend someone just by being who I am.

Anybody here who has taken the time to get to know me knows the kind of person I am & anyone who would like to know me may take the opportunity to do so. I feel no need to "opinionize" who I think I am.

I'd also like to state that I have found many other ENTERTAINING things in my lives (rl & sl) that bring me a great deal of enjoyment & not one of them thus far has included being part of a strip club or any other form of the "adult entertainment Industry" I'm not against these things they are just not MY means to fun.

& lastly, I do understand where there is concern about Immaculate becoming a Mature Sim & the potential Problems it could bring into our wonderful neighborhood. But for me, I believe that there's alot more positive things to be had as part of THIS Mature neighborhood of friends then negative ones.

A New Idea for Immaculate's Rating
10-29-2003 17:30
Okay, this is off the wall, but hear me out..

I agree with both sides, so I'm voting to make Immaculate a PG-16?? Sim..

All of the adult conversation should be allowed, but I know that NONE of us wants any of the smut, like it is in Jessie.

Since we'd be making history anyway, why not make a new rating for the sim??

I agree with those who say the don't have to watch what they say in Immacualte, yet I also agree that we don't want nudes wondering around.. Sorry Inkubus.. lol..

I really think this suggestion will appease both arguments..

Lemme know what you all think.

I fully support this. I think the very concept of ratings is hilarious and given that minors arent allowed in here, all sims should be mature, period.

Well, you do have a point there. The provisions of the EULA, et c seemingly remove any liability from there being adult content in SL as a whole. I don't know of anyone who actually watches their language much unless they are at an event or the welcome center.

Well i have to also put in my two cents...and i can only see BAD things for immac if it was given a MATURE Sim rating folks...i have been living on the immac/Ritch border since the time when only a few actually ACTIVELY lived and played there..since about late july i believe..ive yet to see any reason given to make it a mature sim...do you really want hordes of 18 year olds running around with faux phallus's on thier heads ? Immac is pretty much out of the way, and those of us that do hang out there< and have hung out for quite a while now> pretty much respect each other, and do what we ALL feel is acceptable to each others tastes ie...we KNOW EACH OTHER...Immac is a nice, active community, lets not spoil it by making it what it doesnt need to be folks...and EGGY, tho i respect your right to have your opinion, are you an active resident of Immac?..lets hear from those who live and play there...? and im surprised this wasnt brought up in a meeting of Immac residents first..aleast to those who have been around the area and worked and played there....interesting.....

An Immaculate Town Meeting is being planned
10-29-2003 20:13
Yes a meeting will be scheduled for some time next week.. and will be posted here when it is confirmed.

I wanted to get the word out first to ensure a large turnout of our fair and beloved Immaculate residents to ensure that all voices are heard.

Thanks for the suggestion but rest assured it was already addressed before your post.

I do like the idea of the PG-16 rating.
It allows for true freedom of speech but it leaves out the reall explisit things that you could find in one's bedroom.

I whas once kicked out of some chatroom for mentioning that my mother is a lesbian. (wich i did not intend as namecalling)
Now what is more offending, the fact that I mentioned it or the fact that I got kicked for it?

I still beleive that by far the strongest argument for changing the rating of Immaculate is to give freedom of speech some real meaning.
If that means that we should have a rating that allows for free speech but not explisit sex then that's fine by me.

Hey all, i'm just curious, did the lindens say yes to changing it to mature after you all voted? I tried doing this in Teal, but was told they aren't changing normal sims, just themed ones. Let me know! :) :)
