From: TaiChi Pontoppidan It seems that these two forum threads have given us many wonderful ideas for a "Wonders of SL" tab in a fairly democratic way. I guess I would argue that while these threads have been democratic, they have not been representative in the sense that only a small minority have participated and only a small number of the wonders are included. One problem might be the title of the threads. "Seven Wonders" implies a mighty high standard. In any event, my sense is that this list isn't even close to being complete. From that perspective, it concerns me.

More on "Most Pick Listed" tab
03-10-2006 10:08
If you build a "Most Pick Listed" tab, the vote data should be something like: Wallet Key | Lot Name Wallet Key - This is the key that points back from the Avatars to the accounts that own them. Reason this should be used is it prevents one person from buying their way onto the "Most Pick Listed" tab. An example would be someone spending $1000.00 US to set up 10 basic accounts then setting all the pick list entries on all 10 accounts to their own lot. Using the Wallet Key, only one pick would be recorded as a vote and the rest rejected as duplicate keys. Lot Name - The lot someone picklisted. I'm sure there's other abuse prevention that could be added. Such details of the implementation should remain secret. That way its a builtin penality to anyone trying to get around the mechanism and get their lot listed. They waste their $$$ which I'm sure Linden can put to good use.

Only a very small percentage of players actually are registered and read the forums. I'd guess its something like 20% or less. And of that 20%, a much smaller slice makes it to this particular forum and this particular thread.

From: Cybin Monde any more progress on this? is the list still being actively pursued?
any more suggestions?
i'm thinking about whether this thread would make a good sticky or not.. any thoughts on this? should there be a seperate thread simply for posting amazing sites/sights using this thread as a basis?
oh.. and from what i understand the Tree of Life in Techra is being taken down, so while it would definitely make for a wonderful nominee into the Seven Wonders of Second Life, it doesn't appear to be permanent enough for this list. (but yes, if anyone hasn't visited this yet, i also suggest checking it out. if it's still there..) Well it's still up there so maybe it isn't coming down just yet....no TIMBER lol. And yes, it still rocks : )

Kastell Verloren are a wonder of class!! ***** One of seven that are a must are the Kastel at Verloren sim... in fact it take al prims and AL sim.. well worth a visit... I show the ouside and the inside are sometimes even better done! It built by the great Versu a long time ago - close to two years ago! Its filled with secret rooms (try to find them) a ballroom. stables,,, a dungeon (and thats no sex version - its scary real!).. a study..towers... and small houses around it plus a park.. The Kastel are built as a SL replica to a real castle and the story plus pics are the the main entrance (tp).. Today its close to no one that visit it (SAD!) - and the monthly huge tier for it are payed by the new owner only to keep it as it was from the start. Great done by him to! ***** ITS A WONDER and in SecondLife TO! Visit it. Verloren sim. /Tina

There are lots of cool places in Second Life.. but I'd have to put my vote in for the sim of Taco. The whole place has a cartooney/videogame feel, and there are some beautiful builds there.
Also, there's a a gorgeous recreation of Bag End (Bilbo Baggins' hobbit house from Lord of the Rings/The hobbit) at ground level somewhere near The Particle Lab - I don't have the sim name or coords to hand just now, I found the place once by accident when I leapt off the side of the particle lab.
Finally, if we're also taking into account places that have been and gone, The Mushroom Kingdom was awesome, and I feel very lucky to have seen it while it was still there. As far as I know it's gone all together, but if it's just moved, and anyone has a new location for it, let me know please!

I would like to submit The Oracle at Loti. While merely a Sculpture in itself, the hillside also abounds with castle residencies and great waterway and sunrise/sunset views.

My nomination

Bliss Basin. It has some of the most beautiful landscaping with caves, mountains and coves that Ive seen anywhere. It gives a sense of serenity and fantasy Ive not felt anywhere else in SL. I would love to have the raw file for this place. If it could be made into the shape of a dragon with the land detail it has, it would be gorgeous.

Isle of Wyrm
Natoma
Sanctum Sanctorum
Shivar
Svarga
Teal
Welsh
(um, yes, one is a shameless self-plug, so?
