Undo is a server side function (try it across a relog), but it seems to be working here. Is it only with specific kinds of objects, or anything like that?

I have made a skybox for a friend om mine b4 she could have anyone to come
to her place now nothing seems to work not even I personally can no longer TP to the skybox although its mine. As far as i can see as paying customer Linden seems to think SL is their own little playground for experimenting with all types of beta version and other stuff. T o say this is annoying is just an understatement and the "Supportportal" is a joke to let the customers do the job for them. Shape up Linden |

Unfortunately we can't publish the banned word list. That would be like showing someone your board in a game of Battleship! Second Life is likened to a war game? :/ You are trying to sink us and we are trying to sink you? Hrmm... that not sound right at all. So, I had the pleasure/horror of seeing the mountain of work on the development road map. The issue underlying SVC-4196 is on it, scheduled for the second quarter next year. OMFG. You are serious???? ![]() Well... thanks for the news.... -big sad- -extreme disappointment- I agree with those who demand this be fixed sooner. I can't believe LL does not see the showstopping quality of this issue. ![]() ![]() ![]() _____________________

This could certainly explain why the Lindens have been silent on the JIRAs concerning this issue.
Since they apparently know the underlining cause of the problem, and they know they can't fix it until an unacceptable amount of time has passed, they finally spilled the beans to Lil so that she would have to suffer through the ensuing backlash instead of them. Nice. As a stop-gap fix, how about this: Since you can now assign a variable number of regions per host, how about collecting data on which regions appear to be suffering the worst (due to script and/or avatar load), and putting them on servers that are hosting only 1 or 2 regions, rather than the usual 4? If everybody's hunch is correct, that the problem is memory related, it could go a long ways toward easing the pain until a proper fix can be rolled out. I would speculate that after the openspace mess we just went through, there would be a lot of spare hardware that could be thrown at the problem, assuming there is any way *at all* to utilize some of it, at least temporarily. |

Dev. roadmap PUBLIC vs. eyecandy teasers?
10-07-2009 20:20
Hey Lil,
In general the "point releases" (1.30 -> 1.30.1) will only contain minor fixes and tool updates. Expect more/bigger changes when the minor version increases (1.30 -> 1.32). Hope that helps! We all know HOW this itteration counting system is widely and commonly used by coders and scripters, but my guesse is that sim-owners/creators want to know WHEN and HOW longstanding JIRA issues (big or small) are looked into since many land issues and items rely on bug work-arounds that may or may not prevent their products from working properly in the fututure so they can inform their custommers and fix their products in time! So, I had the pleasure/horror of seeing the mountain of work on the development road map. We ALL do greatly appreciate your efforts Lil, but eversince Howard Linden stated a while ago that "... there won't be much room for further improvements!", it's no longer a secret that commercial intrests are being prioritized above Quality Of Service, this MUST be 'the mountain of work' you were talkin' about, right? So why not make this dev. roadmap PUBLIC? Nope, we may NEVER agree on HOW things are prioritized, but at least it will help to make people understand these 'underlining causes', WHAT lays ahead of us; WHY showstoppers can't be fixed first! And YES... We do realize that it'll be always preliminair as bugs show when they show, nothing can do 'bout that! OFCOUSE... There will be plenty opportunity for playing silly 'hide 'n' seek' games and other security related stuff just by leaving blancs as usual. ![]() /me Strongly believe that above all, it'd safe you Lil, besides walks up 'n' down someones drawer, alot of angry faces, excuse-making and explaining about assumptions without knowing underlaying detailed facts in future posts. As expressed by many others, people are still willing to participate in constructive ways if they were given the info and tools to do so; It works both ways win-win, especialy from commercial pov. i'd take the benefit of that! Hmm... RR almost completed and my house still stands! Cool guys... ![]() |

Scripting issue related to new server rollout?
10-09-2009 17:47
Since some time yesterday, people have been unable to save scripts when working on them. I get the following warning:
Unable to upload C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife\cache\fe88ab5e-a91a-2243-7cfd-a1b42fb4d6ea.lsl due to the following reason: The server is experiencing unexpected difficulties. Please try again later. Is this related to the server rollout? and if so, when is it going to be fixed? |

This is something different
10-10-2009 04:37
I've had that problem before, and clearing the cache and/or copy and paste to a new script fixes it. This is something different. I am not the only one that is having this problem, many are. And, I just did a complete reinstall of Second Life and it is doing this. Something happened in the past couple of days. Either this is related to the new server rollout, or there is something wrong with the asset server that takes care of uploading scripts. Something is broke. |

Wow, someone needs to learn how to reply to others.
10-10-2009 19:54
If you have uninstalled and cleared the cache folder, tried at an off peak time, and in an empty region, then yes, its a problem that should be reported. Ok..... wow...... I am soooooo in aaawww with your 'helpful' and 'curtious' response. (did you catch the sarcasm in there?) Next time you reply to someone that is just trying to point out a problem that they are seeing, why don't you try not to be such a jerkoff and act like you know it all, because obviously you do not. I was in an area that I have never had trouble with even during "peak times" and even though it is not an "empty sim". So, stop throwing around little catch phrases that you have heard, because they were not helpful. Dytska Vieria on the other hand was trying to be helpful, but I replied with how their suggestion did not help rectify the situation. So, DanielRavenNest Noe, consider the following facts: First fact, others I had spoke with were getting the exact same indications as I was, therefore most likely not my client alone. I also tried a different computer with a different sign-in and it did the same thing. Second fact, I reinstalled SL due to an unrelated issue and it did not clear it up. Third fact, I am not a noob saying "dude, wtf, nothing works around here" although I am a first time poster to these forums. If this is the quality of the replies that I should expect around here, then I doubt that I will ever come back here. Fourth fact, there have been numerous issues going on with the server rollouts this week (as there always are during server rollouts) so I was ASKING if this problem could be related. All I had heard at this point was RUMOURS that it was being caused by the rollouts. I have not actually seen asset server problems in a couple of YEARS. Fifth fact, saving scripts are working this afternoon for me. Wanna know what I did to get it to work? What the problem is??? Hell if I know. I did NOTHING other than ask about it in a forum where I know that there is a Linden that frequently reads and posts. I did not reinstall my client again. I changed absolutely nothing on my computer. I just posted, waited, and bam, it's WORKING! So, your suggestion to me was absolutely worthless. And to Lil Linden, if the Lindens did something to clear it up, thank you. If the Lindens did not do anything and it cleared up on it's own somehow, I would recommend it be looked at. And I would recommend keeping an eye on this Daniel's postings and make sure that he is not posting any non-helpful and insulting posts against fellow residents. On more thing Daniel, a problem at anytime should be reported, not just your perfect little scenario that you worked out in your reply. Good night everyone. |

Why must every thread in this subforum end with somebody getting snarky because he or she didn't like the quality of the response given to the posed question?
It seems to me that Daniel simply followed all of the logical steps of troubleshooting and simply retraced his steps in a recap in order to provide the next logical step. Nothing that deserved the kind of reply it got. _____________________

So what's 1.30.2 ?
10-11-2009 07:03
Per http://status.secondlifegrid.net/, there's a 1.30.2 scheduled for Main Grid deployment on Tuesday (even sims) and Wednesday (odd sims). Anybody seen this on Aditi or otherwise know what to expect?

Nothing that deserved the kind of reply it got. I was being sarcastic about the "quality" issue. The problem is that I was simply asking if the problem that I and others were seeing was related to the server rollouts. I had already explained enough to be able to say that this was not a "peak time" nor "empty sim" problem when those things were suggested. It was rude of Daniel to tell me to go verify all of those non-issues prior to saying there was a problem, because they were already logically removed from the equation. Also, the manner and timing of his post was not one in which he was "simply following logical steps". I was talking about an issue that many people had started experiencing at the same time as the server rollouts and I was simply asking if it was related. |

I was being sarcastic about the "quality" issue. The problem is that I was simply asking if the problem that I and others were seeing was related to the server rollouts. It's often been noticed, including by me, that immediately after a rolling restart, there are some asset issues. I attribute it to the "sim first time use effect" - that being the first time certain animations and textures, etc are needed post-restart, they have to be requested. When you restart the entire grid, that's a lot of extra requests, until a couple of days have gone by, and things are mostly loaded locally in the simhosts. I don't know if that's what really is happening, I just know that things often don't work right for a while. I used to work in a software test lab, and when trying to determine what the cause of a problem is, we would eliminate any *other* causes we know about. So... noting the previous paragraph, have you tried to upload again, now that a few days have passed? Also, have you tried uploading an item you know loaded before the 1.30.1 update? That would eliminate a few more possibilites. I'm trying to be helpful here. If you don't like my troubleshooting methods, don't use them, and go file a JIRA issue. |

RR starting today? Because the number of accounts with the last name Linden (400) is approximately equal to the number of people who work there, and the VPs have avatar pictures on their management page? http://lindenlab.com/about/management http://lindenlab.com/about/management they dont use sl, there are so very many Linden lab emploees who cant be bothered much less dragged onto the grid, and log out like clock work, sad to say but mostof them are tourists _____________________
