Come on, this is ridiculous. You don't need to ban all women from SL. Just the cute blondes. That will be quite sufficient to quell any dangerously unsafe behaviours on my part at least.

To prevent those "broadly offensive" acts... the only real solution is to stop avi's from animating or even moving. I know LL can do it - quite often I find myself unable to move.

And the chat lag... that is really a filtering mechanism. If you find your chat not coming thru, you probably said something that was offensive to someone in the world.

I'm sure we can save a lot of computerpower and engine bugs if we replace the current SL viewer with a textbased viewer. Filter out all the dirty words from chat (any word in any language that can be considered dirty) and you'll have a safe grid.

But avatar sex, roleplaying, and clothing and just language in general, geez pretty soon they will take all manners of rights from us.. If I wanted to play nice, I would switch to another game that has no freedom to express your thoughts. I am a grown woman........and I acted comeplete irresponsibly, I should apologize to all the ppl that I have interacted with. I came here, joyfully, and willfully to have fun. what you need to understand is that even freedom of speech has limits.

So does freedom of thought, and expression to one another.

Since SL is a community, we all have an obligation to make sure that it is 'safe' for all of the participants. For instance, I am sure that if I was to approach you, and say to you, "I kiss you passionatly and deeply as I look deeply into your eyes, and stroke your bare shoulders, and love your dress and the way your breasts feel against my chest", that may be a kind of thought that would be quite offensive to you.

There would be nothing you would be able to say or do to avoid that first solicitation from me. And if it were not offensive to you, then that may offend others in the community, so it would be as equally offensive since I would have no way of knowing that you may be offended by such statements or thoughts.

Knowing that there has been an effort made to assure the community that all here have reached the age of consent, there is still the issue to consider of what is 'offensive' to one, may in fact not be to another.

If I said that I wanted to pretend to be a 15 year old boy, and you wanted to pretend to be a 43 year old woman, even though we both knew we were adults in RL, and only acting out a fantasy in private, then it would be offensive to some in the community.

Therefore I state that my original suggestion of banning women from adult areas of SL, and making them cover themselves would only make SL a safer place for all.

This way there would not be the onus of reporting upon all residents in the adult grid in SL, thus making it a less expensive place to maintain and manage.

In fact, if private chats were completely eliminated, it would not only make SL 'safe', but in fact assure the residents that no disgusting behaviour such as 'rape-roleplay' would ever take place.

SL is not a democracy, it is in fact an anarchy. And as in any anarchy, we should listen to the the one's that want to make it 'safe' for all. In other words, "Some are more equal than others". --- a thought from a book that I am sure most have read.

Since the women in SL is protected from the nefarious obscene thoughts of the men, or a woman acting as a man, then no harm will come to the innocent non thinking woman participant.

The real issue here, as posted in the official LL blog is to keep it safe for everyone, keep it safe together, and for any participant to report to the LL authorites acts which are deemed obscene, or lewd by the reporter.

It is not a concept of depicting roleplaying 'rapeplay', or 'ageplay'. It is a concept on limiting exchange of fantasies and thoughts among participants. Even though SL is a virtual world that is created by the participants imaginations and creativity, it is still a world where if I hear anothers expressed thought it could be quite damaging to me, or some other participant in the virtual world.

Imagine if someone were to state to me that the United States really did achieve a lunar landing, and that if I knew in my heart that this was not only impossible, but in fact never happened, I would most certainly discount and disregard such a statement as nothing but offensive and disruptive.

I would have to bring this to the community, (i would have no choice), and for the betterment of the community suggest they be banned, necklaced, and burned at the stake.

If I did not act within my obligations and percieved principals, then I would be remiss in my duty to the entire community.

After all, they were practicing what would be obvious witchcraft by saying that there is a way to actually make a lunar landing and return to our pretty unique Earth where we all know that things need to be nice.

There are simple and easily implemented solutions to such behaviour... banning, burning, ruining of lives, etc. That creates an easily used deterrent.

In fact intraocular lobotomies would actually solve the entire sex offender problem. It would also solve the problem if anyone who may be deemed to possibly be a sex offender is thankfully removed from their own thoughts, and allowed to continue in society as a productive and submissive citizen. Walter Freeman, (who won the nobel prize for his work), pioneerd such an insightful method of eliminating these terrible kind of thoughts.

So my suggestion is to segregate groups of RL people that want to congregate, and inflict thier warped way of thinking upon other easily suaded participants. Keep races seperate, keep gender seperate, keep furries and humans seperate, keep political views seperate, keep secual orientation seperate, keep human and furry seperate.

Allow no fantasy 'talk' in the virtual fantasy world, and that way there is no exploitation of children or naive adults.

AND in that way, it will be safer for the community.

oh, and Brenda,, if any man is found to be portraying a woman, than he should immediatly be banned because homosexuality is not only evil, but patently offensive to to the better of us in our virtual community.

Now then... I'm usually a peaceful individual with a live and let live persona however this really irked me. I do have a proposition I submitted to Robin that is a decent compromise to both groups - those who want to be in a world without "broadly offensive" content and those who either honestly don't care or like it.
