I think... if I were to try out a child AV... I'd avoid the G-rated playgrounds... I'd want to be more of a "Lost Boy"... always getting into trouble somewhere. Play up the role I never really got to explore when I was a kid myself. And definitely... "NO PARENTS!" lol....
^^ Been doin' this for over a year... It's good fun. =^-^=

I just thought of the most awesome 'guaranteed to sell things' store. It would be a toy store. But it would look like an RL store with shelves full of toys and a cashier at the cash register. It would be family friendly to attract SL families. No self respecting child avatar could go there and NOT throw a tantrum! Be sure to strategically place a tantrum poseball nearby. And the parent would have to buy something.

Not if it included a 'spank' pose set right next to it. =^-^=

maybe because jerks have knees?

In such circumstances I usually ask "What's a nice joint like you doing in a guy/girl like this?"

Sorry kid, I'll eject you.
I know it sounds harsh but I just cant speak to a kid avi liek a kid coz you gotta be over 18. I dont talk to dinosaurs liek they are dinosaurs and I speak to satyrs like they lived on the high street. I'm sure there are places meant purely for "kids" but its hard to get my head around it. But good luck. Have fun. You're brave.

I think it was one of those passive aggressive pleas for a everyone under 5' party at her house. I'll set up the kool aid stand and the paint sprayers :)

I can so do that at You Know For Kids in Bay City - Imaginario. Easily.

First of all, your grammar sucks, and I would eject you for talking like that.

Second, any participant on the main grid IS over 18 by default.

Third, if you only accept human players that remain in your margin of tolerable size, then you either own a sexclub, or you have a very empty sim.

As for some of those animations? Mr. P makes a HUD thing that works great for parents. It includes the "nos" an stuff, as well as very funny "drive crazy" and "toss in air" animations. I don't recall if it has a spank (my folks never used such with me!).

Sine Wave has a great tantrum emote animation. Keiki Lemieux also made one for Huddles called "Little Tantrum" which is handy f'r that.

I may have to put a time out somewhere, but I'm sure one could be sat by the sign or the wall outside f'r that too (the TV area might be a bit too inviting).

Oh, an ask Immy about the windows there. ;-)

This doesn't really address your question, probably, but I would like to add it to the discussion. I wouldn't necessarily feel you have to conform to others' expectations of what a kid should be. When I first tried "growing down" I did that and it just didn't work. I wasn't that kind of kid when I was a kid so why be that way now? It works for lots of avatars, obviously, but not for me. Instead I've settled in as more of the boy genius explorer I would like to have been able to be when I was a kid. Consequently I don't necessarily go to child-themed places or do stereotypically kid activities. Allow yourself to think outside the box if you want. Some other child avs do that here and quite successfully I gather.

You know, that's interesting. I hadn't been thinking in that direction, but your "boy genius explorer" sparked a train of thought of my own. When I was a kid, I daydreamed about being a tween superhero, with his own huge underground complex akin to the Bat Cave but full of ultra-tech stuff provided him by the space-aliens that'd made him into a superhero. I created all sorts of elaborate adventures for my alternate universe self, all sorts of back-story, and whatnot.

A bit later, I reworked the idea for use in a couple of different RPG campaigns others were running on the old dial-up BBSs and the like, updated some stuff, dropped some of the sillier stuff from the original...

I retconned him into a kind of genius, inventor type. Oh yeah, and from the beginning he'd always been a shape-shifter. I liked the idea from Super Friends (those goofy twins) and Space 1999 (that alien lady). Interestingly, here in SL, it's really easy being a shape-shifter! :D Just load up on every cotton pickin' animal-shape and unusual-shape avatar you can find! :D :D

Problem is, I've already got my "other" self brought over from the later BBS round-robin stories, where I'm a space adventurer adult. I suppose I could create a second-account and make THAT my childhood, alternate-universe superhero self. :)

On a different note... I went to a place called Plinker's Boy Skins Shapes And somethingorother, in Underground. I picked up a freebee there called "Free Complete Avatar - Boy 1.45 Meters Tall", but the skin seems to be messed up or something. No matter how I adjust the skin tones, it always looks the same: dark greyish brown, as if I were a black kid. The body-shape doesn't look like that of an African-American, though. Looking at the three squares that are supposed to show the skin, I just see a big grey X in each, as if the skin texture isn't there. Looking in the folder the avatar was uncompressed into, I see "Free Little Boy Skin", so the skin isn't missing, it just isn't working right.

Anyone else having that problem? Maybe my copy got corrupted or something. What would happen if I stuck a more general (adult) male skin in there?

Otherwise, he looks cute.

it's a no modify skin. or more precisely, no modify image on the tattoo layer, not corruption. most adult skins are over shaded, but some are workable as kid skins. ymmv

Skateboard. Check!
Cigarette. Check! (thumbs nose at the morality squad)
Vintage rock t-shirt of a band that broke up way before I was born. Check!

I'd have a chip on my shoulder the size of Mount Everest, and my illusions of grandeur would be just as immense.

Hmm... maintaining all these alts is getting expensive though...

It's odd... to think... I use to think child AVs were bizarre... and now... I am considering the possibility of trying one... Second Life has really shattered so many paradigms in my life.

There is Undercity which is a kids RP in a post apocolyptic sim.

there's no 'set rules' for a kid av to follow other than common sense :) I was adopted a year ago and happy bout it... I however hag out at places like NCI and Oxbridge mostly... I find HKE is fun also and Goonys, of course hehe I make sure Im not at 'dult places unless I am told its okay for a kid... as far as iklespeak I dont use it, Im 9 afterall!! #1 rule for a kid av is to have fun!!

Okay, so how do I make the character come out looking like something other than a "blackface?" I go to the Skin interface, and there are sliders for Pigment, Ruddiness, and Rainbow Color (?!?!?). Pigment is set all the way over to 16 (instead of 100), and the others are all set to 0. I can move the sliders as much as I want, the skin color on the avatar doesn't seem to change. Am I missing something?

(Pokes around a bit...)

Hmmmm.... it seems the rest of the "body color" I was seeing is actually a shirt he's wearing two layers inward that, in addition to covering from waist to neck, covers him all the way to the fingertips. And that adjusting the sliders for eyeliner (!!!) controls the color of whole of his head! What the...?!? :D

I can make his head green, or blue, or whatever. Pity I can't seem to do that for the whole body or I'd turn ALL of him green and become another Greenskin from "NeverEnding Story" to go hunting the purple buffalo. :)

Anyone got an Auryn necklace I can buy? :D

(Reverts back to regular avatar...)

Sounds like kinda a lame skin. Get what's paid for, maybe?

There are some good kid skin sellers. I have my biases of course. :-)
