I had my first 512 within three days of playing. In fact I had land before I had prim hair or shoes I really miss having a sizeable piece of land. I just sold half a sim of private island as I couldn't justify the tier, really. For the same tier ... I could have a whole mainland sim - ah the days when we used to point in horror at anything much more than 6L per sqm seem a long time back now ...

From: Elora Lunasea I tried going down there this morning from my work computer - which sucks big time. It's older, and apparently does not completly support SL. Could not get to the info. I'm hoping when my boss goes out later, that I can get Chris to come back with me so he can dive down and have a look. I do remember they were "PROTECTED WATER, NO FEES, NO COVENENT". Objects were included in the sale (the sandbar). Oh boy! "PROTECTED WATER"?? NO FEES, NO COVENENT" It's meaningless sales blurb. It does NOT mean that the plots are beside Governor Linden protected water. On its own it indicates to me only that the plots are in a sim that borders a water sim that is currently empty, or that was empty at the time a dealer put that description on plots. That empty sim might still go to auction and get covered in builds. "NO FEES"?? The most charitable interpretation is that the seller considers the the 512 will be bought by someone who owns no land and has not donated tier to any group. A Premiun account subscription includes the tier/fees for the first 512 sq.m of land owned by the account. There is no such thing as mainland that is "No Fees". "NO COVENENT" (sic) ?? Well, if it's mainland, there never is a Covenant. Nothing you have posted to date indicates to me that the plots are actually bordering Linden water. If they are not, then the price is too high IMO. Be very careful. Don't buy without showing the plots to someone you feel you can trust and who knows about what they are doing. The very best thing to do would be to take the time to understand it yourself. edit: Just saw Nina's post above. I multitask while typing here. I can take time Plots beside a 'dead' spot. That's another trap. If there's no sim on the border, and you happen to be at the edge of a continent, then you probably are 'protected' from builds appearing there. If the emptiness is a simless hole within a continent then it's not unlikely that a sim will eventually be put there. Whether it would be Linden or not --- who knows?? Certainly, some dealers have no qualms of labelling their offerings while wearing rose-coloured glasses. And still ....... even if this the type of 'Protected' used in the land description, there still is no guarantee from the description that the plot is on the edge of the sim.

From: Elora Lunasea I can't! My husband will have a heart attack! $8 a month might freak him out as it is! That's why I was trying to just keep it at the free 512 plot and just buy that one piece of land! Tell him,"I'm starting a home based business, dear. I'm going to rent out this land piecemeal and make a KILLING." (You won't make a killing, but you should at least break even, which'll keep him happy and even sympathetic."

I'd probably make more money that way

From: Elora Lunasea Ha! I would be better off telling him I'm prostituting myself here. I'd probably make more money that way Yeah, but would he go for it? How about, "If I buy a whole sim, hon, I can put up a club, hire some girls to work as escorts for us, and we'll make a KILLING." I'll bet he'll jump at the chance to be a pimp with a whole stable of lovelies, with you beside him as the Madam of the House. And then you'll have aaaaallll those prims to play with! Again, you won't make a killing...but you'll both have so much fun you won't care!

Just for the record and getting back on track - Chris came out with me today, and he approves. I do trust his opinion.
I sent the owner a note asking if he'd negotiate on the price, so we'll see what happens.
/keeping fingers crossed!

It is mainland, The protected land is a canal running along the border between two sims.

/keeping fingers crossed! Good luck, Elora! I did that when I wanted 3 512 parcels that were bordering my land and for sale by the same Av. I didn't save a ton, but they weren't terribly overpriced to begin with. I think I saved almost $L2000 off the asking price, though. But it was a sure sale of 3 plots for him, so I don't think he was bothered that I asked. (and I later ended up buying a 4th 512 plot that he also had for sale that bordered my land on the other side) Just be careful....it seems like the more land (and prims) you have the more land (and PRIMS) you need. Yes, I'm also addicted to prims.

Thanks Sunni! I'm pretty sure, if I buy the 3, that one of them I will keep as pristine sandy beach, for the most part. Will be nice to have one of them dedicated just for that use. The house, will be located on the other 2, with gardens surrounding

Update:
I bought 3 lots, all adjacent to each other today! I am officially hooked into this life.
I originally bought 2 together, and one apart, sort of by accident, not worth going into (water separating them). Thankfully the owner showed up while I was in the sim a little while ago. I was wondering why he had not answered my IM's in any detail. Turns out, his English was not very good, he is French.
However, between the two of us, his little bit of English, my little bit of French (thankfully I remembered enough from school), we managed to figure out that I wanted to know if I could trade the one lot for the other one closer to the other two. He agreed; I sold him back that one, and bought the other empty one close to the other two I had already purchased.
So I now have 3 right near each other, only separated by a narrow channel of water. My friend kindly spent some time today filling in the space between the first two, so I now have one larger plot. The other one wil be filled in similarly - or perhaps I might just bridge the two - haven't decided (maybe a japanese style bridge would like nice instead).
Thanks everyone for all of your help in this. Highly appreciated. I will return the favor once I'm set up by throwing a party! Bathing suits optional! Hehe!
