So, I was going to donate my 512 plot to the group I belong to but, my alt's BF already bought up all the land surrounding his home in the last few days, right before I went premium, so now no need for me to do that. In the meantime, he went on a land hunt for me, unbeknownst to me. He found 4 adjacent waterfront 512 plots, really they are sand bars. They are a bit pricey, but I don't care ($9500L). I LOVE where they are. I think for certain, I'll take one of them since it will only cost me the land. But of course, now I'm thinking of two, which I swore up and down I was not going to do but I am so in love with where this is, and how peaceful and private it is. It's also apparently on land which some special restrictions, so there will never be anything horrible allowed to be built surrounding it. And, a boat can be docked there. My brain is already swirling with the possibilities. Anyway, I guess I'm looking for some wise words of wisdom. I'm thinking of linking two of the plots (he said it can be done, there is a small bit of water between each), putting a small house on one, and keeping the other as yard/garden space. More land, more prims, and it will only be the first tier of $5 a month which isn't bad. So, anything anyone wishes to tell me? Warn me about? Talk me into? Talk me out of? I'll listen to all of it

Do it. Yes you can link them. Create a group and you'll get a tier bonus of 10%. $5 a month? That's one meal. Who needs to eat when you have your own little island. Oh, and for $3 more a month, you can have three of those plots.

If it's not Governor Linden, you are renting from a resident and subject to eviction on a whim. Don't blow 9500 on something you might regret. If it is merely protected land, then that's fine.

If it is merely protected land, then that's fine. Thats right, and your free 512 won't be of much use if it is estate land, in most all cases.

Ah! Something I did not know about! I will have to check the stats on that! Thanks for pointing that out!
Edit: No wait. I don't think it was on MY land. It is on the whole area, the area of the continent. It's a new one, very recent. I forgot the name of it (not the one we all have been talking about here) It was PROTECTED land. I remember now. My friend told me that.

Don't let people just tell you things about land - look for yourself. If anything, it is a good exercise in learning how to use the land tools.

Cristalle, I did look myself. I went under the water and saw the stats at the bottom of the land, I just couldn't offhand remember the wording, until I saw you write the word "Protected" and then I remembere us being down there, reading it and him mentioning it to me. He looked it up afterwords, to make sure about it for me. He owns a lot of land already - and does understand quite a bit. I, know squat, and appreciate his and all of your help!

From: Chris Norse You will be hooked. No getting around it. Soon you will be a landbaroness. That's what happened to me. I started with a 512, now I'm at 27,000 sqm. You'll buy and sell for a while until you find that 1 perfect spot as I would call, "Final Destination".

sounds like this 512 is on a private estate, and thus outside the scope of your free tier allotment. From: Elora Lunasea ...It's also apparently on land which some special restrictions, so there will never be anything horrible allowed to be built surrounding it. And, a boat can be docked there.

From: Jackson Rickenbacker Cristalle, you really should watch your tongue on neging people out about simland, I for one take it very personal. Your not giving people pros and cons, your basically saying to the OP that if they buy simland they should kiss thier money goodbye.
There are alot of us good estate owners out there, and we far out number the bad ones, you fail to tell the OP about the perils of mainland ownership. the right for any neighbor to start griefing you in many different ways without any real LL intervention, the adcutters that destroy your views, landbots, scanbots, and many more things, but I'll keep it short and simple. Those are NOT problems you'll expereince on a well run sim..
Do me, yourself and all us a favor, don't make it your mission to turn people off of simland living. Chill out, Jackson. If you have been following Elora's posting history on this subject, she just became premium and clearly wants to use her tier. I am not getting into all that. And there are a gazillion threads that discuss the same.

And I will add that when that actual discussion comes up, I am pretty even handed in discussing pros and cons. Don't presume anything about me because of one stupid thread in which we disagree about something. Take each post for what it is worth.
