And I walk around fully covered up! and no one better complain!.....or else.
Cute, reminds me of my daughter a few years ago, when she was into all that spiky jewelry - not so much into the catsuit. :)

so, you see sex equal as to adult.
that's narrow sighted, imho.

adult term means: interactivities between adults and suited for adults.
Sex is just ONE of the many activities, that suits the term adult.

So, since we are all adults, (if playing fair with age, 18+ for main grid), all we do is "adult" activities.. :D

I think they have a much better idea about the real percentage then they let on publically.

I agree...I believe they outright lie.

@say moo, agree with you also :)

HAHAHAHAHAHAAH, surely you jest. What else is there to do? I'm too stupid to build anything. For the next poll...is the Pope Catholic ...and that one would be harder to judge.

Linden Lab is understandably prepared to sacrifice 5000 users if it results in 20000 new users. Second Life isn't about us.

poop - you are of course correct. It is not surprising though, when a company gets large enough they usually toss their founder too.

My god Argent, what that seal is doing to you is a crime against nature.

Hey, I have a seal pup from that litter. They're just very, very affectionate. Yeah, that's it. Affectionate.

I voted "Other/Don't Know" because after LL gets done with it's defining down PG/Mature/Adult, who knows what will be "adult"!

Maybe the poll should be repeated with more obvious terms.

As for the answer: Skype is better anyway.

I checked 'don't know' you haven't defined what a adult activity is, I am a adult so therefore every activity I take part in is adult...

In a news story on MSNBC, Mark Kingdon, CEO of Second Life is quotes thus:

"Kingdon said the company didn't have statistics on how many of people use the site for adult activities, but added that it's in the minority."

So Vote and lets give him some statistics :-)

Comment added later:

Actually, if he wanted statistics, he could ask a database guy to count how many sex beds there are in inventory, or total sales of the major sex bed makers, or total income of everyone with "escort" in their profile description, or just run a login poll.

I think he actually does know to some degree, they claim to have surveyed the grid to come up with the 2-4% that will have to move to the new adult continent. And it would be irresponsible to plan a major policy change/new product without having some idea how it will affect your customers, and how many of them there are.

(Linden Lab's main business, in terms of sales is SL Land tier. Land comes in several flavors: PG vs Mature, Mainland vs Full Island, Homestead, & Openspace. Now they are adding a new product category: Adult, and revising the specs on their existing products - what you are allowed to do with them)

Isn't it funny how all the sudden the minority has become the majority.....

Although their intentions may have been wholesome and pure, we evil adult users have changed that and changing the user experience so that what they most often use and certainly demand, taken from them, or hidden away.... (so the corp dont see) will be a disaster.

I voted no, because I haven't engaged in so called adult - presumably sexual - activities. But I should have voted Other. I like the idea of being open to the possibility even though not doing it.

It's like a very old car commercial I remember as a kid back in the last geologic era when the highway speed limits first lowered to 55 mph. "You won't drive your new Peugeot from 0 to 80 in 6.2 seconds -- but you'll know you could!"

I voted "Yes" but only because "Mad, bad and dangerous to know" isn't an option over the risible choices of "Mature" and "Adult".

*I* am adult content.

The worst thing is that LL's plans for 'adult content' will do much harm and no good

I'm confused. I thought there were statistics. I know that the 2%-4% must have resulted from a rigorous study, and was not the result of a PR person pulling an arbitrary number out of his or her butt. Go on the record and quote that study you already told us you did.

Surely, you must have some basis of knowing that users of adult activity are in the minority. I know you didn't pull that statement out of your butt. So what is your basis for making it?

(In fact, I'm sure those who use SL for adult purposes are in the minority. Residents who actually use SL for any purpose are in the minority. The majority log in for an hour, get frustrated, and leave never to come back. Maybe that's why he can say that those who use SL for adult purposes are in the minority.)

I Am Adult Content
05-07-2009 15:09
I voted YES, because my intent in SL is to communicate with adults.
This includes RL topics that I would not frankly speak of if there
were children around. For example, politics about torture or the
threat of piracy around Somalia. Speaking with children around,
or unwittingly to children, such discussions would have a very
different character. If I wanted to influence young minds, I
would seek a different place than SL. Those serious topics
are just examples - I also am not interested in fun socializing
with children. I am here seeking adult contact. Not sex.

All of that is why I am overwhelmingly against the conversion
of SL into an educational place for children. If they want to
have an Educational grid, I'm all for that and would very well
be interested in using it, but I want it completely seperate from
the Main Grid that I currently enjoy. The continental and other
separation they are implementing will simply not create such a
space - it will only destroy the place that I enjoy now.

Finally, I want the freedom to roam around and meet adults
and not worry about whether my comments or creations include
"any content that is suggestive of any (even mildly) sexual or
violent themes, or references to social drug or alcohol usage"
for example.

Most of my SL usage is for education, and I am quite unhappy
with LL's plans to convert the grid into a children's area.

Agreed! Not just politics, so many topics. Basically not getting adult land (which a lot of ticket applications won't) stifles basic freedoms like natural conversation.

I kept asking in Blondins recent thread, who is going to be "responsible" for the kids they are letting on... Not me, man, I so don't want to be around them. Not LL either I figure as he wouldn't answer that one.
