This is an advice forum, not a stalking forum, Mr. Stalker.

So how do I go about stalking someone? I was thinking about stalking Rioko. Am i suposed to let her know I'm stalking her? Do I just hide in the bushes and orbit any guy that talks to her? Should I send her flowers, jewlery or the finger of her ex-boyfriend?

Delude yourself into thinking she likes you back
Thats nice.
No.
That works, but orbit him after she logs.
Yes
Yes
Yes, though her current boyfriend's finger might work better.

Again--I don't agree or disagree. I've been (ignorantly so) guilty of it in the past. I'm just stating the facts.

I understand :)

I thought maybe it was just me. I'm glad it's not...you know, misery loves company and all. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better for us both, Isabeau.

A response from someone named Sunni, AND sunshine from California.

A concise and authoritative guide to stalking can be found in the 1998 film "You've Got Mail", which primarily follows the developing relationship between business competitors Joe Fox (Tom Hanks) and Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan). During the course of the film, Joe systematically exploits his romantic online relationship with Kathleen to discover revealing information about her private life and workplace, then uses that information to drive her both out of business and out of love with her boyfriend Frank (Greg Kinnear). In the end, Kathleen has no one to turn to but Joe, as he always intended.

Now tell me that ain't a peach of a romantic comedy.

Thats okay, he gets marooned on a deserted island later and she ends up getting him declared dead and marrying someone else.

So ... if I stalk Rioko, I could wind up stranded and talking to a soccer ball?

Of course this is SL and there are some really nice islands to be stranded on. Besides, civalization (if you can call it that) is only a double click away.

I agree. When my time comes, and I feel it's getting close, I'll just vanish. I don't feel the need to make any big fanfare. I'll probably let my very closest friends know.

Please make sure your Ass gets passed on to someone worthy, who will wear it with the pride you have shown.

In sl wouldn't it have to be a poseball?

I think maybe some people are missing the point of stalking.

It doesn't just stay in SL.

So the answer to your question is ..

NO.

I don't think it's such a bad thing that people's absences here are noted. Lana made a place for herself via her postings, as did Oki. I don't see the harm in asking about them. The Oki Stalking was a bit creepy.............

Maybe instead of starting a thread when someone vanishes we can have one sticky "Missing Persons" thread. Sort of a Forum Milk Carton........

In a related kinda way, I came across an in-world sign a few weeks ago asking for sightings for a particular person. They even offered a reward for infomation that lead to finding them. It struck me how absurb that idea of posting a "missing persons" in-world was.
I mean if the person was in world then an IM would get them to contact you. If they chose not to contact you then you have no right to keep pursuing them. If they were not in world any longer then there would be no information to gain that would lead to finding them.

Sometimes the most bizarre things you come across are actually fairly nomal RL things that don't have any relevance or meaning in SL.

hmm..have you seen any ice cream trucks lately, Ms. McCann? Maybe a large white van with 'Candy!' painted on the side? Anything of this sort?

I assure you, Ms. McCann, we're doing our best to find you. Please be calm, and try to remember anything that might lead to finding you.

I'll probably not go completely, just put everything in inventory and log in only from time to time. I don't want to be one of those who recoups from SL burnout and then has to get a new av and start from scratch.

Graphicguru Gustav and Claire Silverspar casually walk by the 'empty' clothes hamper and wink at each other. Claire says "Hmmm...Graph my hunk, have you seen Marianne anywhere?" And Graph conjures up a puzzled look on his face: "No Claire darling, last I saw her was when I threw the clothes into the washing machine...I think she was hiding in the clothes." Claire lets out a startled cry: OH! My goodness dear! You don’t think...?" as she throws opens the lid to the hamper and says: "BOO! There you are!!!!"

I'm having a really, I dunno, grey day today, (it _is_ raining, maybe that's why). Just very 'triste'. I don't know if you meant this as a joke, but "I like Triscuits and cheese" made me laugh for the first time today. Thank you. Its 3pm here, and for me to not laugh once until now is not normal.

James, have you sent her a notecard? I think it's only been a week or so. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Sometimes people just don't feel like being social for a bit.

You're welcome, and I'm sorry you're having a down day. I was just seeing if I could con Rioko into picking up some snacks at the grocery store, but if it cheered you up, then I'm glad.

Rioko - Isabeau and I would like some soft drinks as well. Can you grab a 2L bottle of pop and maybe rent us a movie? I promise we'll miss you terribly while you're gone.
