Ok I'm not posting much anymore, but I had to chime in on this one. First you say your account is getting deleted involuntarily - that means against your will. Then you say you just had to break away from it - meaning you will to do so. So which is it? Stop with the ambiguity and speak up. As far as I can tell, the people here that care about you are getting frustrated.

Warder...you don't owe anyone an explanation for your good-bye. You certainly do not owe anyone specific RL explanations.

I guarantee you that one kind soul in this thread or one that didn't even respond has forwarded your message on - that's the way it works here....in spite of you taking a beating in the process.

Everyone should be allowed to have a dramatic farewell. (except for a few people who have done it half a dozen times).....Good Luck.

Mickey if he is going to start a thread telling everyone he is leaving then fine. You say I'm leaving, I had a great time with you all and farewell. If he doesn't want to disclose the reasons that is fine; but he should just say he isn't giving reasons and all would be well. But he has straddled the fence - trying to give his reasons but not quite getting there. I understand why some are feeling miffed right now. No one is beating him up or has beaten him up; I think they are frustrated.

Personally I'm considering other possible locales if things keep going the way they are in the US.

At any rate, I do wish you well. I'm going through a bit of a rocky spell in SL with some RL thrown in as well, so I'm at least a wee bit of a sympathetic soul here.

There are no rules, I believe, for farewells, but there is common courtesy.

I don't know what the OP is going through, but I know it must be a difficult time for him. I hope that's not the case, but seems likely based on what he has said in his way.

I truly am sorry about whatever caused this, but courtesy would be to either say I'm leaving and go, or to say "I'm leaving for illness", "I'm leaving because I'm going to jail" And if he thinks it's nobody's damn business then there's "I'm sorry I have to go to take care of some real life stuff."

I'm sure there are a million other ways it could have been handled, but to have him practically run around saying "I've got a secret," "I've got a secret" makes him a Cindy Brady clone.

I've spent too much time on this silliness. I may be irritated with the way you handled it, but I am sincere when I say I wish you the very best.

He may not owe anyone explanations, but he's sure as hell encouraged lots of questions and speculations. He got just what he wanted - a thread full of people PAYING ATTENTION TO HIM.

My guess: Windswept nailed it. Someone broke his heart (hey, happens to the best of us) and he's hoping that person will see his big, dramatic "OKAY I'M REALLY LEAVING FOR GOOD, LAST CHANCE TO TALK TO ME FOR LIKE FOREVER!" and beg him to stay.

I at least gave him a practical suggestion of how to, you know, CONTACT people in SL he supposedly wanted those messages to go to.

Warder was very cordial and answered to a slew of condescending remarks and jabs without being rude.

Not really fair to call that drama. Drama follows me a lot, too.....because I won't accept rude or hateful behavior and will call someone out on it. And don't you know the rude person will stir it up, then claim they don't like drama. Every Time.

Sure is a lot of that going around lately. Is it the summer heat?

Can you be nice to someone today? or is that impossible? Do you realize that the words and phrases left here have an effect on people?

Even if Warder is long gone.....I'm disappointed. They had an effect on me, and I've got a pretty thick skin.

Sigh. I DO try, yes, I can be nice to someone today. I did ask Warder near the beginning of this thread, to clarify what he was talking about as it was just too opaque for me to see through. I just wasn't getting it but it 'felt' like he wanted to be drawn out. It was very frustrating, increasingly so as the thread went on. I dropped out of responding after that, but I do think that everything that comes into our heads doesn't need to come out of our mouths, (or off of our keyboard). I never want to intentionally just be hurtful to someone, out of my own annoyance or frustration, because people have different levels of communication, and sometimes are really doing the best they can, as they see it, and aren't trying to troll or anything, but just to be heard. I have no idea if this is true of Warder, or not best err on the upside.

Treasure....whenever I find myself turning rude.....I read one of your posts, and it snaps me back into place. You're one of the kindest people that I've met in forum. You always take great care in expressing your thoughts.

I'm no poster child for sweetness....but if we don't stop and look at what we are saying....and fall into a pattern every day of just tossing anything out there....a pattern that is accepted by those around us....it becomes worse and worse every day until one becomes almost immune to the fact.

I've seen some people on here go from Kind to Rude. And it's accepted.....and I don't think they even noticed the change. And I do not accept the excuse "that's the way it works on forums" anymore. That's not an excuse to treat other people poorly.

It's just disappointing. I'm disappointed in myself, too.
