Need to clear something up on racialy charged content

What's amazing to me is how easy it is to overlook or be unaware of racism in your backyard. I live in Michigan (USA) and always thought we were well distanced from racism, living in an upscale college town with an healthy ethnic mix. It wasn't until I was dating a Taiwanese girl at one time that she related to me a lot of the crap she dealt with on campus. She had experienced (on more than one occasion) people making backhand comments or sometimes being so bold as to get direct with their racial slurs. Up to that point I really had no idea, it was sort of a shock to learn about. I would bet that SL is a reflection of RL in this regard. You don't always know what goes on until you experience life from the perspective of someone else.

Well. Yes, we do get cut versions of movies and video games sometimes. Mostly when it concerns gallons of blood and splattering intestines. Americans prefer to censor bare nipples. You decide. *shrugs*





It's pretty much just a stupid marketing gag. I think they would have done these even if the new president would have been white but as popular as Obama is. Hopping on the bandwagon sells stuff. Don't tell me Americans have never marketed totally insane and stupid stuff.

To answer for myself, yes. As long he didn't actually try to shag or eat my 8 year old, he is free to say it all he wants no matter how offensive it may be, I am just as free to ignore it.

On the Nazi symbols, as a student of history, especially that era, I personally have no qualms with someone displaying those images in their home if that is what they wish. If they take no action to harm others I don't believe in punishing people for their thoughts or beliefs, even if they ironically do.

That being said, the sim owner has a right to define his standards, and if these do not meet them , you are withinn your authority as manager to have the tenant remove them or move elsewhere.

I do the same thing often, it really gets them frustrated when they think you don't understand thier insults. Though I tend to use it more as a shield deflecting unwanted sexual advances..... Even rewrote my profile in Kanji just to throw them off....

I was watching a movie the other night..it was a movie that really sunk some things in to me..
Maybe someone has seen it..It was called Shooting Dogs.

It was about South Africa in i believe the late 90's

They had two tribes in this movie..i hope i get the names right here..Titsu and the Hutus..

these two tribe are from the same place..everyone looks the same color and probably at some point way way back were the same exact people until a new tribe was formed at some point in the past..
well the movie takes place at this church ground...
the U.N. is there to monitor the violence..

it all seemed not so bad at first..then you hear about this presidents plane crashing..i can't remember if it was shot down or just crashed..but all hell unleashed when news got out..

i can't remember which tribe began killing the other but it was terrible..
all these people came to this church fenced in area because they knew the U.N. were there and it would be safe..

the U.N. ended up letting them in and before you know it the place was surrounded by this other tribe and killing anyone that came outside..not only killing them but chopping them up with machetes..

women men children and even little babies..
well it came to a point that the U.N. had to pull out of there because they had been there only to monitor the violence and not get involved..

at this point everyone knew as soon as they did the other tribe would come in and slaughter the people inside..
the parents were pleading to shoot their children so they would not have to die by machete..

All the U.N. could do was say they could not get involved ..the only shots they fired were to get people out of the way of the trucks as they pulled out of the complex..

as soon as the U.N. left the other tribe went in..

800,000 people of the same color and same country died because one said they were not the same or not as good or did not have the same politics or whatever reason..
so Genocide had to happen.Why? and what good is the U.N. if they pull out when they are surely needed most knowing a slaughter is about to happen the second they leave?


what came to me from this was..First..The U.N. is useless..
..Second.Are we always going to have some excuse to kill each other off??Is it in us to find an excuse..
If we were all one race same politics same beliefs..would we still find a reason to hate?

Not many movies really sink in and send a message to me..But this one really just grabbed me and made me think..
is it race that separates us or is it something else?

well if 800,000 of the same people can be chopped up by the same people..then i think color has very little to do with it..
to me it is a program to trigger hate to a certain thing..stereotype being the trigger to all the rest....color has so little to do with it..
We cannot change our colors and we wouldn't want to..but we can Hack our program..

i say we get together and make a new symbol for hacking our programming..
maybe a bunch of fists next to each other forming a circle for unity with the power on symbol in the middle..it would be something if it caught on huh?

Not to diminish your point but it was Rwanda not South Africa and it centers around the Rwandan Genocide of Tutsis and Hutu moderates by Hutus.

i really wasn't too sure the location and a lot of the other details but..i think the whole thing was so gripping that a lot of that didn't even come into the picture..i could barely remember the names of the tribes..

it didn't take much to get involved in the people or the story..i think thats why the rest was so trivial..i didn't see a difference in them at all but they knew who they were and who was from what tribe..even people that were helping the church and the other tribe ended up leaving and helping with killing the people they were helping before the violence took off..

i don't watch much news and tv or anything like that so i really am not aware of all the places that hate each other like this..but seeing just an example of it in i'm sure a downplayed version of the violence just really made me think how awfule it really had to be..so much so that i couldn't bring my curiosity to open up you tube to want to see it..
i am sure it is flooded with this thing that happened..
it's just crazy that it could happen anywhere in the world at any given time if the situation was right..

Ah ceka, you get it. cause seriously you are right. we are programmed to look for differences with each other, hate the differences and lash out in hate. For some, its race, for some, its finances, for some, its jealousy. We were taught to be racists....be prejudice from birth. By society. I am still trying to figure out why.

Oh and by the way, its simple to tell the two tribes apart. one tribe was darker and shorter, the other tribe had a lighter complexion and were taller. What used to make me wonder was what happened to families that had spouses who were from both tribes.

If it was my sim, he'd be booted immediately, no refund, estate banned from all my sims, and ARed. Free speech may be a right in the USA, but my sims, my rules, and hate of any kind = instant ban. I am disabled, and long before the Nazis started murdering Jews, they were killing us. We were the guinea pigs for the chemicals used in the gas chambers. I'm also a lesbian...and Hiltler killed plenty of people for being LGBT, too.

I could only watch it from the movie..i couldn't bring myself to want to see it actually happening from some videos of the real thing..
one thing that really made it sink in even further was as they were doing the credits they went through the staff and crew of the movie..some of the actors and a lot of the crew were a big part of making the movie and some it was a recreation of that incident that had been snuk out just moments before they came into the camp..

one thing comes to mind when i think of why and where it comes from and it reminds me of something i read somewhere..i can't remember where but the idea stuck when i read it..

it was an outlook on ruling a country or a people..introduce hates and they will divide and make our job easier..divide and conquer..
then other things would come to me and i started to relate them..united we stand divided we fall..
everything started to become relative and leading back to one place..

if the people are strong and united chances are the governments are a little less in control of them..
there are so many tools to use to keep people divided now days..so many media to use and manipulate..and freedom of speech and people abusing those rights and being biased in networks only keeps us more divided..
we need to get wise and realize..we are our own worst enemy..we need to free our minds and realize that everything we see or read or are told does not mean it is true..

we were told ..put your money in banks because banks are safe..
does anyone feel setup by banks now?i know i would have if i trusted them..so who else is out there still setting us up now for something even worse?

we never know till it hits..then most times it's too late..if the majority of everyone is doing something because it is the thing to do and it's safe or feels safe..now days those are the things that make me leery..
