1) Hanging out with someone one on one and really getting to know them and what they're about.
2) Exploring all the incredibly creative things people have done.
3) Places like the Hangout which tend to attract an interesting and eclectic group as opposed to a lot of places where you get a bunch of idiots looking to act like fools. The conversations at the Hangout tend to go five different directions at once, but they are always interesting.

Sigh. I'm about to have to take a forced break from Sl for a couple weeks while I move into my new place and wait for my new computer to arrive. Unfortunately, my old computer will be no longer with me, so I'm already a little depressed. I hate moving. It interferes with the much more important business of goofing off and playing with my friends.

OTOH, the new computer is a quad-core, SLi monstrosity that should completely rock. If it ever arrives. Sometime in the distant future when we all have flying cars and holodecks...

/me whispers in your ear "Wait until I overclock it..."

heh - it will be overkill in the extreme for SL, but I play a lot of first person shooters, and those really require top notch equipment to run them with any degree of success.

I forgot to add that one of the things I really enjoy about Sl is hanging out here in the forums with all you folks. I've met some truly amazing people and made some great friends, so I would add that this is one of the things that makes me very happy, especially when I can't log into SL.

Super true! I think I would have given up on SL a bit ago if it weren't for the forums. You guys have made it so much fun!

It's easy for me - I spend more time at work than at home, especially in recent months, so more time on the forums. Once I make my move and get the new rig set up, that should change. I'll have a LOT more free time when I'm not working, so more SL time, I hope.

/me sighs and cuddles up with him. We should probably wash the car first, but it is frozen solid outside so we can just sit by a nice roaring fire until it thaws out.

You know, when you log off feeling relaxed or invigorated or strengthened, just out of the simple, un-selfconscious pleasure of it. And eager to return just because you want to, NOT for the addictive reason.

Not counting sex*, my top three:

1. Talking quietly with my partner, late at night, intimately or just gossip. We use chat, not voice, and even start to know each other well enough to include silence sometimes, and it just feels SO friendly.

2. To my surprise, the time we built a huge sky plywood platform out of small flat prims, one after the other. Took days, rather hypnotic.

3. The flush of harmless pleasure when viewers and posters take your forum contribution seriously and enjoy themselves answering it.

Sometimes you don't realise something has made you happy until later. What's yours?

*Edit - I mean as well as sex

Since I lost my deatchable penis...

I greatly enjoy meeting new and interesting people and building more internet friendships.

That aside I like the Sim2 quality of building ones own house and filling it with deco. Brings out the creative side of me. :)

Logging on makes me happy. Or else I wouldn't do it. I've come to view SL as Entertainment. So what ever I am doing that particular time will be enjoyable, or else I wouldn't do it.

Where did you use it last? Did you check there? How about between the pillows in the sofa? Maybe it rolled under the bed. With your car keys?

I think this is something that you can claim on your homeowner's insurance. They should send you a check to buy a new one. I don't know how it will affect your rates, though. You might want to talk to your agent first.

Just trying to help.

Then you're missing out more then you'll ever know.

Typing is cold and flat. How intimate or close can you possibly get by just typing? You can't express anything, not the mood, not the closeness you feel. Yeah, yeah you can type up a good book but it's nowhere near how you can by hearing anothers voice.

This fear some of you have of using voice is mind boggling. What are you so afraid of? Are you that much embarrassed of yourselves to even try? Must be.

Not talking directly to op just in general.

1) Sandy! Right now, seeing you answer in this thread, is the best thing! I was going to write you! So worried about where you have been! Welcome "home"! Something brewing for next week, you'll find out soon. /me crosses my fingers, that you'll be around...

2) Chris :) (but really, #1) Yes, your "Boy Toy King", but, much more to me, and I to him. We're not the kind to jump up on a couch (or this Forum) and rant about our feelings for each other. Suffice it to say, no words will be able to do it justice anyway. But nobody or anything, makes me happier.

3) Setting up my home, buying things for it, hanging out in it, taking pix of it :)

4) Shopping in general. Hate it in RL, very entertaining here!

5) Chatting at the Hangout! Wish I had more time inworld to do so. I hate that I miss out on a lot of the late night fun! /me sighs heavily.

6) Exploring in general - never ending source of delight!

Well that wasn't too subjective or off topic.

The written word can be far more than cold and flat. It's an unfortunate byproduct of today's technologies that so many people's ability to express themselves with the written word is so stunted and that as a result they suffer from this false belief.

I'm not even going to bother addressing your presuppositions about why some people don't use voice as it's nothing but a narrow minded troll.

in no particular order:

When I have been dancing/messing/chatting at the hangout. There are some great people there and I love spending time there. Even on my own at the hangout is fun!

When I am creating something. This includes working in the GIMP for SL though it is not in SL. I enjoy creating things and I am always eager to get back and finish what I am doing.

I love helping people as well as having fun on the forums. So if i have posted or spotted a thread i like, I am always eager to see whats new or if there have been any replies to my post.

Also, of course, I love spending time with Graph. Dancing or chatting, it doesn't matter, its like i can't wait to see him again.

but yeah, those are what brings me back and keeps me in SL.:D
Well, that and the addiction of course lol. ;)

edit: after seeing Sally's post I realised i forgot Live music :S lol :D

Ahhh that one is definitely covered by your home owners insurance, just throw it on the floor first to make sure it is really busted. Slip in the claim that I can't find my prims either and they are extra, or you could claim them as software until they become hardware. ;)

In other words you don't dare use voice either. I can understand. I can definitely read between the lines.

And btw you say you don't dare address me, yet, you did just that. Or didn't you know?
