What makes you really happy in SL? (no, not sex)

You know, when you log off feeling relaxed or invigorated or strengthened, just out of the simple, un-selfconscious pleasure of it. And eager to return just because you want to, NOT for the addictive reason.

Not counting sex*, my top three:

1. Talking quietly with my partner, late at night, intimately or just gossip. We use chat, not voice, and even start to know each other well enough to include silence sometimes, and it just feels SO friendly.

2. To my surprise, the time we built a huge sky plywood platform out of small flat prims, one after the other. Took days, rather hypnotic.

3. The flush of harmless pleasure when viewers and posters take your forum contribution seriously and enjoy themselves answering it.

Sometimes you don't realise something has made you happy until later. What's yours?

*Edit - I mean as well as sex

1. Building. Thinking of something, watching it appear, evolve, arrive. Watching other people interact with it. I'm a homebody RL and SL (duh!) so for me sitting at sunset watching the water sparkle last night was very simply magical (and netted a nice sillouette photo for my profile picks.

2. Exploring. I'm making a concerted effort now to spend time with people who I have things in common with, to visit their builds and see how they are interacting with the world. I find this a humbling experience, it's very good for the ego control to see how much beautiful things are out there.

3. As a mentor I am not the most technical, but I specialise in helping people interact with this thing and getting their feet on the ground - this I always have done before being a mentor. It makes me happy when I see the same people who have gone off on their way and later I see them happy and fulfilled and usually making money (not something I have ever really tried to do of course) because they have found THEIR way in SL after my very basic launch pad. Kudos to them :)

And it goes without saying that spending time with my sweetie is sublime. I hope I am not jinxing things by saying that - but I have empathy with the "comfortable silences" - those comfortable silences with a cuddle can be very very nice indeed.

in no particular order:

When I have been dancing/messing/chatting at the hangout. There are some great people there and I love spending time there. Even on my own at the hangout is fun!

When I am creating something. This includes working in the GIMP for SL though it is not in SL. I enjoy creating things and I am always eager to get back and finish what I am doing.

I love helping people as well as having fun on the forums. So if i have posted or spotted a thread i like, I am always eager to see whats new or if there have been any replies to my post.

Also, of course, I love spending time with Graph. Dancing or chatting, it doesn't matter, its like i can't wait to see him again.

but yeah, those are what brings me back and keeps me in SL.:D
Well, that and the addiction of course lol. ;)

edit: after seeing Sally's post I realised i forgot Live music :S lol :D

Spending time with the wonderful people I've met, even if it's just in IMs while I'm busy.
Making stuff and seeing something evolve out of nothing.
Helping other people.
Dancing and exporing.
Supporting the live music scene.
Making presents for others and finding they like them.
Oh........ and going to live music events :D

Plus all the other fun stuff that happens when I least expect it.

I enjoy the moments, where hours/days/weeks of tinkering with building, sculpting, textures, sounds, scripting etc. finally results in something that ends up in a new cool 'experience', and then showing it off. ;)

Live music. And sharing it with my friends.

Dropping a snapshot on someone that they didn't realize I had taken of them.

Creation. Of a texture, an object, a script. Making something there that was not previously existing always gives me a charge. (Edit after reading Screwtape's crosspost: And making a script I've worked on finally come untangled, especially!)

Moments of connection when I spend time with the people I've met.

Sitting at my piano in my SL home and playing, no audience required.

Actually, that's a good one.... or two.
Sometimes when I am at live gigs and run into a musician I've posted a pic of in my Flickr album without their knowledge, I'll throw them a weblink in IM to make sure they don't mind.
I've had some great conversations that started that way and made quite a few great friends that way as well.
And a big yes to sharing live music with friends (and anyone else I can drag along :D ).
Had quite a few laughs recently when a few of us went from gig to gig without arranging which ones and kept running into each other.

What makes me really happy in SL is the feeling of accomplishment that I get when I deliver a freshly terraformed and landscaped sim or a major whole-sim build to a client, and they go "Wow! This is fantastic!". Knowing that I exceeded their expectations and made them vert happy with my efforts is a very happy thing for me, as well.

1. Spending time with my partner TopCard. Just sharing thoughts and exploring together.

2. Hair Shopping, yes I am a hair addict. When there are is new hair at a shop or discovering new shops are great times. I love trying on all the styles.

3. Landscaping, I will never be finished, but that's okay because I love to step back and look what I have accomplished.

- Meeting interesting people from all over the world.

- Creating things.

- Creating and modifying scripts and getting them to work.

- Showing people how to interact and work within the boundaries of SL.

- Getting complements on my creations. Thank you Madhu, Vissy and Yisroel for the complements.

My all time high moment was when I showed another SL member how to create and save a complete outfit with the ability to change all clothing and shape with a single click.

Whoops, sorry, I didn't mean that. By all means count sex. I've edited the OP now. I was just a bit satiated from the 'orgasm' thread.

Being with my beloved partner, whether we're chatting, exploring, building, shopping, being silly, dancing, cuddling, being intimate, whatever, as long as we're together. And knowing that she feels the same way.

Without her, SL can be a very lonely place, even though I've made other good friends there. Sometimes it feels as if SL is only a way of spending time with her, and the rest is just peripheral.

1. Being with my friends
2. Finding a place full of people that I dont even know and being able to talk n flirt and have fun throughout the evening with them. Rather, making new friends.
3. Working on SL pics n banners. I love seeing how they turn out, because I dont always have a concept in mind when I start.
4. Getting a pleased reaction from those I do banner work for. Always the best when someone else likes the stuff I toss together.
5. Learning something new in SL.
6. Putting together blog reviews and posts on my blog about SL. Its pretty much unknown, but I was extremely excited when it hit 100+ hits in only a month...yea, its the little things LOL
7. Shopping and putting together schmexy outfits from things I buy. I dunno why, it just makes me go 'yeaaaa nicce' *shrugs*
8. Exploring...I need to do this more.
