My Mech was blacklisted from sl.. What the hell?

Mech [copyb] was black listed from sl when I hoped on this morning, no idea what the hell for, was just a freaking unscripted sculpty 90 prim mech, there's no ******* logical reason for this, I think the lindens are just screwing with us to be pricks now

What is it, what did it do, did it have any unauthorized content, and what message did you get when you attempted to rez it?

I say they are pricks because they don't do sh*t for the community, the lindens hide and only care about those puting money in their pockets generally speaking, I used to appreicate them but over time they've earned my ire

If you want them to do something for you, like, oh, I don't know...maybe tell you why your mech, whatever that is, has been blacklisted, then maybe starting out by insulting them isn't the best course of action.

Also, could you answer Mari's questions? We aren't Lindens, and we don't have any more power than you do to do anything, but maybe if you answer those questions, we can help figure out what happened and why.

I never said you were lindens? what the hell? This is the resident help section, why would you even say that.

You'd be pretty pissed off i think if you payed for something and then had it taken from you with no explanation as to why and not having your ls returned to you

maybe you see it like that....others obviously dont. But the fastest way to find out why your object was blacklisted is to ask LL directly - we can only speculate - and if you want answers from someone you generally don't want to start off the question by calling them pricks. That's just going to make them think you're out to cause trouble.

If 'copyb' is the name of the object then it's vaguely possible that the 'blacklist' has something to do with Copybot: as in someone seeing the object rezzed inworld, seeing the name, assuming it was a Copybot (without checking to see that it was, as you say, unscripted) and reporting it to Linden Lab.

Jesus! You have a lot of aggression, don't you? I was just explaining that we can't un-blacklist your mech if it's even been blacklisted, but if you give us some information, a lot of the regular posters here are good at figuring stuff like this out. And as far as me being pretty pissed, think again. I might be upset, but I doubt I'd be lashing out at complete strangers who are trying to help me, and if I had any hope of getting the problem solved, I wouldn't be insulting the people that could potentially solve it for me. No matter how upset I was, I'm certain I could keep my cool and get to the bottom of it.

Now, could you please calm down and answer the questions in post number 3 so we can try to help?

I kinda went through the same thing with an odd outcome... I had an item "Straw!" that I would put in my mouth and one day I got the "Item had been blacklisted" message. I sent in a ticket and got the response that they were "unable to investigate the issue". (>_<

Here's the funny part. I had full perms on it when it worked, so I passed it around to friends. I noticed one friend had it on the other day and asked her to send me back a copy. It worked out just fine. The only thing I can imagine happened is that the UUID of the one I had just happened to be collateral damage to a DMCA item ban. (=_=)

Anyway... My jailbait outfit is one again complete and I now see the value of sending copies of items I like to my alts and close friends. (^_^)y

With a name like Mech [CopyB], I would guess that it is either stolen content, or it is a device to enable its user to steal content.

In either case:

/me applauds the pricks at Linden Lab for blacklisting it.

To my knowledge, no such device can exist as an object in SL.

I was wondering the same as well. With a name like "Mech [copyb]," I could easily see someone(s) succumbing to the panic over copybot.

Either way, easy enough to s'pect it was in error. I doubt any business would deliberately seek you out to mess with you directly, but I do believe stronly in the power of "human error."

Maybe...but SL's inventory doesn't number additional copies of items in that way. It appends numbers. (sexydress, sexydress1, etc.)

I use Roman numerals for my shape copies. (^_^) ... I'm not sure why though, I number everything else "#.#" like I would software. (o.o)

No, but people might. I use my own naming conventions, and often go with things like that. Roman Veranda Parts I - IV are in my inventory and that's hardly normal... (Yeah..roman numerals for the roman veranda...I just had to)
