"Surreal" Situation

the key to this entire mess was the fact I quoted a "bulk rate" for a contracted 5 sims to be built.

The fact that the price needed to be renegotiated...the fact that personal affairs ended have no bearing in the matter.

it was HOW the renegotiation was handled that I have issue with. If i quote a bulk rate for 5 SIMS to be built and you want to renegotiate the price after the third SIM is under development(in the first month)...that doesn't mean you get one...two or even THREE SIMs at that bulk rate price.(yes..the client initially screamed they wanted all SIMs left intact and xfferred to them...at that low low low one month one SIM price. ) I wasn't offered any more for that one SIM.(or the other two SIMs for that matter) I gave the client 2 weeks after i had been banned to gather their affairs and come to a sensible and fair severance package to keep the SIMs builds. They offered me nothing.(except weak exscuses).

If ONLY someone had come to me telling me their financial situation. Asking me to work with them(willing to work with me)..not expecting 3 developed SIMs for what was an OLD rate i used at the beginning of the year for ONE SIM...maybe things would've turned out differently.

Yes if ONLY it was as easy as finding a ten foot barge pole to push this out to sea never to be seen again....too bad that can't happen.

just my 2$L but posting this in building forums (which was finally locked today), and then reposting here after having posted it originally over a week ago, is extremely poor taste, regardless of whether you are right or wrong.

Lana are you aware you double posted if you don't want the thread locked you might want to delete the other thread. Just a thought.
I would be upset and all if something happen similar but I would see what I could do to learn from this experience in future.
I don't want to do business here because its just too stressful and there very little protection especially for texture artist.
I am very ill in real life and I can't afford energy wise or the hassles for dcma stuff so I decided if I share stuff even on non business level there is a risk.
I have decide what is important to me is creating and learning, friendships with those I find I am comfortable with and rest is if I make money is a gift and additional bonus.
Yet that doesn't always prevent drama I guess either but those moments that there is drama are great learning opportunities.

So, essentially it goes like this;

You worked for some guy, were stupid enough not demand payment in advance for any jobs, had a sexual relationship with him and then were suprised that he didn't want to work with you when the sexual relationship run it's course.

Of course this thread will put an end to any accusations that you are a "psychotic bitch" as you quote him saying. Yes indeedy. I, for one, based on this thread, wouldn't even entertain the notion.

The lesson here children is this; demand payment in advance and don't mix business and sex, unless you're a hooker obviously.

SO not helpful! That is probably one of the worst responses I have seen in a while. This woman poured hours of work into something. Hours of real time and resourses into it, and all you can say is get a life? I really don't think that is helpful at all. 'video game' or not. I know some people view this as a game only, but others don't take it quite as lightheartedly, maybe they should, maybe it doesn't matter. But everyone should respect that each person sees SL with a different viewpoint. If you can't say anything nice, shut up.



Lana, I am sorry this has happened to you. Unfortunately this kind of person is out there, all we can do is look out and hope to avoid them. At least now it means you know the true nature of him and he is out of your hair. Thanks for warning us, though you may want to remove the double post if you are unaware. Amazing how the REAL culprit in all of this disavows responsibility...also amazing how few people have figured it out yet.

Unfortunately, these things happen in RL, thet are going to happen here in the Metaworse. . I read the OP's original thread in the building forum, probably the first time I've been there. The alleged perpetrator of this has posted his side of the story. Not taking sides, there are always 2 sides to a story, Someone has been wronged, obviously. it's just a question of who(m). Right now it's just He said, she said.

Sorry, Lana, I fell asleep halfway through. I don't let my RL friends pull me into their drama. Sure not going to do it here.

That's why I check them while they're still on the supermarket shelf. If only potential friends' traits were clearly labelled and easy to inspect prior to acquirement.

Vent your feelings on a third-party forum where you've got no constraints.

Keep in mind, however - a lot of the drama you're describing that went on has absolutely zero context to those of us who aren't involved with you, or the estate firm you mention.

This is a personal matter, Lana. While I sympathize that you're probably very upset over what happened, laying this drama upon us is completely inappropriate.

This is what SL Universe and the like are for.

Okay -

You should not "work" for someone as part of dating them.

If you do work for them and date them both make sure you get paid a fair (even if on the low end) wage for doing so.

And of course any items you buy for someone elses sims should be recompensated.

Everyone knows SLove almost never lasts. Online relationships in general don't. So even without the "he is a greedy manipulator" stuff it was a mistake to mix business and pleasure in the way you did.

I feel bad for you. I've had my share of situations that made me feel stupid about my romantic choices Online and Off, I imagine a lot of people here have.

But you and other women willing to give him stuff just to date him? That shouldn't be happening.

If you take a job in real life without getting a legally binding contract, you are a fool. Likewise, if you take a job in Second Life without asking for atleast half the payment upfront, you are an equally substantial fool.
