Is Rednecked Trout some sort of hybrid species?

Is Rednecked Trout some sort of hybrid species? Yes. Instead of living in pure mountain streams and alpine lakes, it swims around in a bowl of Pabst Blue Ribbon and wears a sleeveless t-shirt. Which is good, because Trouts gots no arms to stick through the sleeves anyway. _____________________

Why don't you take off that itty-bitty shirt Trout. Them panties too. _____________________

/me considers this and decides that Deliverance would have been a very different movie with Lexxi and Brenda instead of toothless, banjo picking rednecks.

Wow, so Trout is a redneck. How exciting. I'll bet he dusts crops with obnoxious substances when he's flying his biplane. And I'd bet his banjo playing is brilliant.
And for the record, I (a Brit who's lived in the States) am rather tired of Americans having to apologise for their government. We Brits take it as said that we despise our government, any government , and nowhere I've lived do people think, 'Oh haven't we gotta cool government.' Hey we have the Lindens. Cool, what? |

And, good comment about governments, Chas. We all have something to kvetch about when it comes to our rulers/elected officials/politicos. _____________________

/me sighs and gives up. OK. So International Pick On Trout Day is apparently back on.
Wow, so Trout is a redneck. How exciting. I'll bet he dusts crops with obnoxious substances when he's flying his biplane. And I'd bet his banjo playing is brilliant. Just the cornfield, and it's not as good as it used to be since that horrible accident when I was drinking Budweiser while driving a tractor down to the local bar to watch NASCAR on the bigscreen telebizhun. Lost my three good fingers. And for the record, I (a Brit who's lived in the States) am rather tired of Americans having to apologise for their government. We Brits take it as said that we despise our government, any government , and nowhere I've lived do people think, 'Oh haven't we gotta cool government.' Hey we have the Lindens. Cool, what? OK, I'm just as innocent of this as I was when I got accused of picking on the Japanese. I'm not a big fan of our government, I just like where I live. Anyway, I think as a newly minted redneck I'm supposed to support bombing other countries into the stone age, anyway, so Yay, US foriegn policy!! (Or Yeeehaw, or whatever rednecks say). Iraq is too much trouble, though. I say we pull out and go after Mexico, then work our way south. We can eventually be the United States of North and South America, Except for Canada, tm., Carribean Pending. Which reminds me - where is Greenland? is it North America or Europe? It's sort of up there all by itself on the maps. They seem like a soft target, with their polar bears and reindeer and friendly people. I say we invade them first for practice. _____________________

I don't apologize for the US gov't, I just think the people running it are morons. I already made my voice heard by voting against them; I shouldn't need to apologize for the rest of America who DID vote for them.
And re: this article about Meet Me. The article IS insulting to Japanese people. Is it insulting to Americans? I SO don't care. If someone wants to sit around bitching, go for it. _____________________

I visited a long time ago - great outstanding avatars . . . and walking around in skimpy clothing trying to figure out what to do . . . apparently look at ads for adult websites and links to videos on adult-websites . . .so left quickly. Had a very neat "drunk"/"Drugged" animation; the basic walk was a lot better than SL, but have no idea what the "sex" is like there. There are some "robots" that look like normal avatars, but I couldn't figure out how to get them to do anything. Yes, I left quickly. i figured as much when i read about it on wikipedia...oddly enough i love the fact that you can build ANYTHING and script ANYTHING about sl. it's like you are designing your own video game. why i DETEST roleplayin ...just seems like laziness to me. why pretend when you can script. even though i LOVE sl sex and more than dabble in it, sex itself is not the main draw. _____________________

/me sighs and gives up. OK. So International Pick On Trout Day is apparently back on. 1) I think there might be a difference between hillbillies (like in that movie) and rednecks, and knew I might be stretching things by using quotes from that movie. 2) I think your tractor is sexy 3) So that's why you wear that one white glove! (and never move three of your "fingers" ![]() 4) /meows 5) /purrs _____________________

I spend far more time apologising for my fellow journos, and sometimes quite rightly, too ( |

I just reread the article and something I can't believe I failed to miss before. Several times they tout that they are protecting WOMEN and children.
LMAO Sorry, but in SL women seem to be holding their own. Don't see many who need protecting. |

It hasn't wandered too far Suzuki. By way of a serious answer, it looks like people pretty much agree that this poses no competitive threat to SL, not because of the lack of adult content, but because of the restrictions on people's ability to make choices for themselves about the content they want to see and create. Second Life has an amazing element of creativity and freedom to it that draws people in. We're able to do things in SL that we couldn't do elsewhere - create things that would be physically impossible, cost prohibitive or just beyond our abilities in RL, and share them with others globally. The site mentioned in the article puts severe restrictions on those abilities and, thus, will never be competitive with SL. It may draw people who are not interested in what SL has to offer, but that doesn't hurt SL at all.
There is also a general agreement that the software developer has a narrow view of americans and a twisted view of Japan and the Japanese people. Oh, and apparently, when I wasn't looking, I became a redneck and somehow accidentally insulted Japan. The good news is as soon as I get a kayak, I'm headed into the swamps where Lexxi and Brenda the hillbillies are waiting for me. Lexxi likes my tractor. I'm desperately trying to resist the temptation to make the obvious joke about plowing her fields for her, because that would be off-color and just ungentlemanly. ok - thread back up to speed and on topic. No more wandering off. _____________________

"meet-me" sounds like a really fun place for griefers, maximum shock value. We in SL are getting so used to griefers here we yawn when we see another one.

Yes. Those poor Japanese women and children will be forever scarred by the things they'll likely see. I seriously doubt that. From the article: "The operation and design of ''meet-me'' will be strictly controlled by Transcosmos, ensuring law and order and far more policing and filtering to ban profanity than in ''Second Life,'' which only recently outlawed gambling and is grappling with violations." I guess that pretty much sums it up. I think they actually mean it too. _____________________

A place to send all those prudes and bluenoses that want to ban everything in SL that can't be put in a Disneyland ride. SL will be a better place for this. |

Maybe they'll go away in SL since meet-me will be offering so much more of a challenge. |

This is like educational video games, only those who have an axe to grind with sexual gratification will join up.
Now an SL like game that focuses on kids and kids alone might work, but then all the watchdogs would insist it be educational or teach morality lessons as well, and that would kill it. If you could make it commercial enough, without any redeedming content, but still focused on kids, like most cartoons still are, then you might have something. PG stuff for adults will never take off big time. Everyone wants brain candy; for adults that includes sex and violence. For kids, fun, free from parent-approved activities. |
