XStreet Spam

This annoys me - Katt Linden stop spamming people -- do your job and find new customers/residents instead of annoying your current ones.

If residents do this inworld they can be Ar'd. If residents found a way of emailing peeps they'd be ar'd too. Why are Xstreet allowed to target customers in this fashion if everyone else can be ar'd for it?

Goes to show how long it's been for me. And I make it a very firm habit of NEVER, in anyway, doing anything with an email that I think might be spam...........including, clicking "opt out" links.

I realize that tomorrow, Onrez goes bye-bye and they're gonna spam everyone that has an account there for it. That accounts for my three avatars, but not for why I got FIVE emails.

LL, just stop it. Most of us already realize you own XStreet. It's not like it's not obvious or anything. It's only pasted at the top of both websites! STOP EMAILING about it already!

Hi Nim, one of mine says "it will soon..." so suspect these are functions that will happen in the future.

I was told I was banned and cannot sell at SLX by the old staff from the forums. Evidently I'm still banned cause I can't log in and when I wrote support at LL they told me any decisions made by SLX will remain the same for now.

Well..... Why on earth send me an email saying that second life is bringing more customers to my store from xstreetsl.. lol. I laugh but its really not that funny. They're now saying that they are integrating into SL and say this is one of second lifes services but I can't log into their service to use it?

Why send me an email stating I can then. I've written support a few times and they just give me the copy pasted response about my banning.

I was banned from the forums on SLX which lead to them also banning my merchant privileges. Banned I will add by regular members of Second Life. They had no affiliation to Second Life or Linden Labs at all. Now that LL has bought them out I would think that should change. Since this email I'm looking at proves even in the writing that its one of the services of Second Life. Well.... let me use the Second Life service then.

I agree entirely, all bans should be erased, people weren't banned under the Second Life Terms of Service, it's out of order to uphold those bans.

Since SL took over my Xstreet traffic has almost doubled ..............good
My inworld traffic has almost halved..........bad

What's the point of owning land and paying tier if SL wants everybody to shop XL?

My Xstreet traffic is up, but not that dramatically. I think waiting to see how this all plays out is a good plan.

The way it's playing out is that LL is pushing XSSL as hard as they can, so that more people will buy there - so that LL can get a 5% cut. That's another thread, but the whole thing looks bad to me. I really do think they'll put XSSL in an inworld search tab, which will be diabolical for traders.

Sorry to write off-topic, but that's a pet gripe of mine. I'll shut up now about it, and stick to the spam topic.

My partner had a premium account. Shes also my GF in RL. After my account was banned last year on SLX her account was immediately banned too for some reason. She uses a different computer entirely but apparently they either used the main IP or knew she was my partner. Either reason is bad business now adays. She tried contacting SLX numerous times and they ignored her emails. Shes had a premium account in SL for a very long time since she joined. Shes had a membership for two years.

She got the same email I did and contacted support through live help. She also called last week. She got the same response. She needed to contact SLX support. Well shes tried that numerous times since last year. They ignored her.

She just downgraded her account to basic. I had to agree with her. There is no reason to have a premium account if you can't use all the services your entitled to. Let alone the free services offered.

She never had a problem being a premium member or had any complaints. This situation is a little different tho. Banned for no reason from a site that will be doing a large chunk of the marketing and shopping in SL it seems.

What I don't like about this, and other posters in this thread have said they don't think they signed upto Xstreet, is that this sort of targetted advertising is frowned upon inworld. I believe Elanthius recently got AR'd for sending neighbours details of plots for sale, that's targetted advertising, that's against the terms of service.

Linden Lab are leveraging their position in an unfair manner and this should be discouraged.

I do wonder at times if Linden Lab will ever think systemically, encouraging people to use XStreet won't pay tier bills, they really need to be careful what they're doing here.
