XStreet Spam

When XStreet was independent, I never received any spam from them. But this morning, I wake up to find an email telling me how much I am missed, and showing me a whole bunch of new items for sale.

Does that suck, or what?

That's nothing new, my alt got this a couple of times over the last 2 years already - so this has nothing to do with the new owner of XStreet.

Haven't gotten it either.. but then, I haven't left XStreet alone long enough to feel missed.

My alt has gotten those in the past, when she doesn't log into her xStreet account for a long period of time.

AN EMAIL!!!......ONE.....WHOLE.....EMAIL........... telling you about a service you have willingly signed up for?

You are right, that REALLY DOES SUCK BIG TIME.

Unless a person agrees to receive advertising emails, it's spam. The agreement may be hidden in the ToS but, more usually, it's an option checkbox. Signing up for a service doesn't automatically mean that you want email advertisements sent to you by it.

I never denied the fact that it is spam. However, saying that receiving the email 'sucked' and going to the effort of creating a thread about it, that's an over-reaction imho which is what I am taking the piss out of.

Your right except that the OP thought this was a new feature that is occuring since LL took over XStreet

I was never spammed by xstreet before LL took it over, but now I have been. And no, I haven't been inactive. Currently active, selling stuff, participating in the forum. And spammed, just in case I was unaware of xstreet.

I've just been emailed by LL, suggesting that I sell my stuff on Xstreet. It's debatable whether or not it's spam, but I'm not taking it as such.

So they are pushing at traders. I wonder if they'll push it at all users by email. I'd consider that to be spam.

I dunno. One mail like that would have been OK, but I got 4 so far, with the following subjects:

- Xstreet makes it easy to shop
- Xstreet means more customers
- Find new buyers
- Attract new buyers

The last three within 5 minutes, and the first one less than 90 minutes earlier. That's a bit much, isn't it?

I just got two emails from Xstreet. I've never before received an email from them before and I believe I opened an account there some 2 1/2 years ago. I've never purchased a single item from Xstreet (or SLX) and haven't even browsed the site for more than a year. Then suddenly, out of the blue, I get two emails.

I would say I'm extremely inactive on that account and have been from day one. Never got any email from them in all that time.............it does seem strange that it suddenly starts up after the acquisition by LL. May not be spam in the strictest meaning of the word but it's close.

Definitely a bit much - to say the least.

I've only seen one, but they are filtered into my Junk Email folder, from which they are permanently deleted along with the rest of the junk. I see very few that are in there.

As I was writing this, I got, and am still getting, "Shop for your avatar and friends" emails. One for each of my accouints, I guess, so I can treat it as just one, but it's beginning to look rather spammy.

There's an opt-out link, so it's ok for me.

I haven't needed any password. Click the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the email

Didn't see this thread before, so logged in and complained on the blog feedback thread.

I wasn't signed up for Xstreet. I was signed up as a buyer on On rez, but I don't think it entitles them to spam me with flipping emails.
