Well that's certainly easier to swallow instead of .. "Login Failed" "Due to higher-than-usual load, logins to Second Life have been temporarily restricted. Please try again in a few minutes" At 38k residents online, I'd hate to think that's considered peak traffic.

From: bigmoe Whitfield somethings borked has nothing to do with your account type. Plus I think the lindens should keep us all on a level playing field for logins, lets see you get live chat, I dont, you get support tickets, I dont, hmm you can hold land on main land I can not. so who gets the better deal already um you. So you think I should call my cable company and say my neighbor is getting better channels and techs come out faster since they pay more....so I should get the same service when I pay bare minimum. Just because premium gets more options does not always mean we are better off... First off, anyone who pays even a dollar is investing in SL. I'm not advocating this "social Higharchy" but guess what... It's LL's game so LL gets to run the show. Last time I checked...having employees to run everything cost $...having all these servers to support the numerous residents (bots and active alike) cost $... You get the idea.. Live Chat...may not always help. I haven't used it yet but I see it all the time, the premium account holders are usually willing to pop onto live chat on behalf of our fellow residents who don't have access. Support Tickets.... Getting something positive/resolved via support tickets are like shooting fish in a barrel...Not always reliable. Holding mainland... Finding a good piece of land on the mainland is luck of the draw... you're not missing much there... and if you want a significant portion of land, you have to pay extra. Non premiums aren't completely tied in. While everyone has the option to just roll out one day... those who invest in SL can't just walk away. We have to try to sell that land in order to just break even on the investment. So don't assume that just because there are more options to those who pay for it, that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Basic accounts were initially meant to be a DEMO...A way for you to see if you liked SL without having to pay for something you ended up deciding not to do. Then if you liked it, you would get a subscription. My good friend is a basic account, but thats only because she doesn't get to get on SL as much as I do.

From: bigmoe Whitfield phil. have you ever seen a multi client bot program? once these bots get logged out they will keep trying and trying to get back in. so say there is 30 of them in one sim. sim goes down and say logins are off. this program keeps hammering the login system until it logs them in. so say 40 people have this program and they have each 15-40 bots. say there connection or sim resets and all get logged out (I know big shot there) what happen? they all try loggin in at once but logins are off. bam they hammering the doors down. Yes but sims aren't going down, or anything like that. Bots that stay in one place, as the vast majority do (I think) don't crash.

From: Atashi Yue Actually, I think this error message is in error. It's a login issue, not a load issue. Yes, they really screwed up an error message. There is/was something going on with either load on the system or the asset server or .... because TPs were messed up, L$ balance was not loading, profiles were not loading, I could not save notecards, etc...

But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

36K online and I am still getting the higher load than usual message. it annoys me anytime that I can't log in at my leisure but it really ticks me off when I can't get on AFTER my 2 year old has gone to bed and I actually have 'my' time in peace!! Can't even get the support page up to whine!
And as for the more and more surveys popping up, yes, they are getting old .. though one I got earlier I think may proove that they may indeed read the forums ... the one about 'are you happy with your chosen avatar name and would you pay to change it?".

From: Winston Ackland "Due to higher-than-usual load, login to Secondlife is temporarily restricted. Please try again in a few minutes." As a premium member, should I be getting this message? Tell me, again, what the advantage is to being a premium member. I, for the second life of me, can't think of even one. And yet, pathetic loser that I am, I continue to attempt to log in. premium allows you to buy land on the mainland, have access to live support.. um I think that is it I wish they would arrange it so that premium would be able to log in over non premium members (*ducks cus someone will hate that I said that*)

Bla bla bla From: Ericka Nemeth So don't assume that just because there are more options to those who pay for it, that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.
Nobody's assuming the grass is greener on your side. In fact, many of us have dropped down to basic because the grass is piled with dogshit. From: Ericka Nemeth Basic accounts were initially meant to be a DEMO...A way for you to see if you liked SL without having to pay for something you ended up deciding not to do. Please provide solid evidence for this assertion. When and where was it said by Linden Lab that this was the original purpose of basic accounts? This gets so terribly old as to be likened to an aging pile of vomit that keeps growing bacteria as it sits right next to a lapping pond which keeps gently moisturizing it.

snip Back when I joined the only "Free" account was a 14 day trial. Basic was a one time 9.95 fee and got you 50L/week stipend Premium was the same as now except stipend was higher I think that person might have been referring to the old 14 day trial accounts.

"Login Failed. due to higher-than-usual load, Logins to Second Life have been temporarily restricted. Please try again in a few minutes."
I'm glad they've restricted the logins of people who pay $50 a month so that the hordes of bots may use the service for free.
