From: Winston Ackland "Due to higher-than-usual load, login to Secondlife is temporarily restricted. Please try again in a few minutes." As a premium member, should I be getting this message? Tell me, again, what the advantage is to being a premium member. I, for the second life of me, can't think of even one. And yet, pathetic loser that I am, I continue to attempt to log in. Ya know if I could type it would help. but I think its borked and I am not going to get into a debate about prem over regular.

From: LittleMe Jewell After flying through 3 sims out to some Linden water areas, I was finally able to TP away and get home. Though my L$ are still "loading". hehe. well done. At least you are somewhere where you want to be. TPing is still very dicey though

Actually, I think this error message is in error. It's a login issue, not a load issue. Yes, they really screwed up an error message.

From: Winston Ackland "Due to higher-than-usual load, login to Secondlife is temporarily restricted. Please try again in a few minutes." Higher than usual load??? There are only 42k online. Methinks that the new database hardware didn't get grafted in quite so seamlessly.

Ok...help me to figure this out.
At 55k people online, my friend who is no payment info can get on with no issue but at like 45k people she can't get on? She buys lindens, however only through SLexchange.
I was able to log on but WTH? How can you call 45k overload when it won't lock people out at 55 or even 60k people?

Oh yeah, it's borked...
07-02-2008 17:42
After several failed attempts to log in (message informed me that it was due to higher than normal traffic,) I was finally allowed to log in, but was told my home sim was unavailable, and was diverted to the nearest telehub (along with 100 other people) where I am currently stuck. Can't TP out. Can't even get the TP dialog box to come up.

It also might be a good day to step away from the computer desk, grab a cold one, open the front door, step outside, and take a deep breath. From: Ordinal Malaprop It is a good day for making bitter remarks at WAs in the middle of clouds of grey n00bs.

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

Plus I think the lindens should keep us all on a level playing field for logins, lets see you get live chat, I dont, you get support tickets, I dont, hmm you can hold land on main land I can not. so who gets the better deal already um you.

From: bigmoe Whitfield Phil I think this is a login server problem and not asset system. Just a hunch. I don't think so. It's the usual inworld problems as well - TP borked, failed transactions, etc. etc. They restrict logins when the usual problems occur. Failed logins are just one of the usual things that occurs with the rest.

lol 39,028 in world and high load. I remember back in march of last year when 39k was high load and problems started lol. oh where have thsoe days gone
and I think 29k of that is bots. plus look at this way too, there all of these bots trying to log back in right now for there uber elite camping spots. which will be a problem stopping them from logging in unless we figure out someway of stopping it and once we do well screw the pooch on regular alive people too.

It started acting up, and after I signed off, I haven't been able to sign on again... either restricted due to high demand, cannot find simulator, or just plain "login failed" at this point, I've never seen the number of people logged in at this time to be so low! just keeps dropping.. obviously, since nobody can get on..

Again, I don;t think Bots aren't being logged - nobody is. People are crashing out, but bots don't crash out. So I doubt that there's a huge hammering on the door by bots.

Logins and In-World Services are Intermittent for Some Residents
We have reports of sporatic unavailablity of some services such as login not working, transactions failing, and land store down. We are aware of the problem and are working to bring these services back online as quickly as possible.

So I doubt that there's a huge hammering on the door by bots. phil. have you ever seen a multi client bot program? once these bots get logged out they will keep trying and trying to get back in. so say there is 30 of them in one sim. sim goes down and say logins are off. this program keeps hammering the login system until it logs them in. so say 40 people have this program and they have each 15-40 bots. say there connection or sim resets and all get logged out (I know big shot there) what happen? they all try loggin in at once but logins are off. bam they hammering the doors down.
