From: Wildefire Walcott Yeah... no way of knowing whether the exploits factored in, but at the time I started this thread, the top classified was L$500,000/week, and that same vendor has dropped their price to L$200,000-something. The top classified now is L$400K, and they have every keyword known to god in their ad, so it comes up in every search for anything. What I don't understand is what benefit they get from having keywords that do not apply to them in the classified? If I follow a link to a place and it does not have what I want then I move on until I find a place which does. I don't stop and shop for other things, mostly because it irritates me that they didn't have what they advertised having. I suppose to answer my own question there must be enough people that do shop for other things whilst there or the parcel owners perceive that they will, to make it worth while. Does not seem a smart way to use the keywords to me if you want people to come who are interested in your stuff though.

This would be a waste of 400K, and it also happens to be untrue. I looked at the 400K ad, and compared it to what they sell, and it looks to me like they carry all of it, other than one word I don't recognize because it's probably a typo: From: 400K ad Skin, skins, men skin, men skins, man skin, man skins, avatar skin, avatar skins, sexy skin, sexy skins, womens, woman skin, woman skins, female skin, female skins, realistic skin, male skin, male skins, Shape, shapes, men shape, men shapes, man shape, man shapes, avatar shape, avatar shapes, sexy shapes, sexy shape, woman shape, woman shapes, female shape, female shapes, male shapes, body, men body, man body, woman body, female body, avatar, avatars, makeup, menswear hair hairs dresses skirts accessories earrings, cloth, eye eyes nails oil bikini, cloth, clothes, clothe Clothing hair, men hair, woman hair, watch watchs shoes bag bags cap car cars Sex sexy Adult bag bags shoe shoes neko neco high definition fashion lashes furniture boutique boots sandal sandals shopping jacket lingerie camp ghotic
What about the ad is misleading, exactly? The fact that the store is huge and carries a LOT of stuff is quite a different thing than what you are accusing them of. Interestingly, while I was in the store I got spammed with a competitor's landmark. Obviously there are disadvantages to being the top dog. Everyone else is nipping at your heels everywhere, bringing you down any way possible: in-world, in the forums, god knows where else. --Avion

For the people who were interested, and now that the exploit has been closed: without giving exact details, the exploit I found was that you can modify the client, or tamper with the network protocol, to allow you to "edit" a classified's PRICE, in the same way you could normally edit its title and description. You can then set it to any amount you like for free because you never get charged for editing a classified.
How did I find it so quickly? I looked on the libsl wiki and noticed that the packet sent for editing a classified is identical to that sent for creating one, so it was a natural first guess, which turned out to be right.

There is no WAY one designer is capable of producing quality items of every sort. So best case its an ad representing a lot of designs from different people Worst case not all that stuff was produced by the people getting the money .. Regardless - It is becoming very tacky and cluttered.

I agree, I use external websites such as SLX more these days than in world search.

From: CheerGirl Allen I do not blame you, LL Really screwed up the new search New search doesn't even work properly for many people, with those new html layouts. (excuse: it's a problem with certain graphic cards or processors or whatever.. Good job, this basically means it's not using any industrie standard code) -The scroll is stuck -Buttons/links are often unclickable -Browsing through result pages is impossible because the next page links are at the bottom of the screen, which you can't reach anyway because the scrollbuttons are broke -Page links change while browsing through result pages, dropping remaining results after page #14 or thereabouts. Need I continue?

I was curious how this turned out. I have seen those ads for years and wonder how they did it. I am charged for whatever regardless of what I pay and often feel like what is point in doing so when sometimes LL messes up and removes my advertisement even with autopay. How can they pay or do what they did they luck out without paying or being banned?

From: FD Spark I How can they pay or do what they did they luck out without paying or being banned? Good point because as I understand it they had to deliberately do something to take advantage of this exploit and should have had their arses kicked from here to kingdom come.

I have been seeing huge L dollar amounts since FD joined and they were huge amounts and I always thought it just seemed really outrageous ridiculous amount of money. The only way I can figure out why it was allowed because it was sanctioned for certain people because I have used and paid for advertising for lower amounts and it always took out money, even increased few times still got charged so perhaps it only worked with certain people or those who charged elaborate amounts. I may have run into glitches but never that type.
