The RC has been handling flexies fine for me since it started remembering the settings a couple RC's back.
Are you sure you have the flexi detail slider up in the custom section of your graphics tab? Yeppers. Twas the first thing I checked, but it was a no-go. Apparently, via the JIRA, I'm no the only one suffering it. Of course, I haven't checked the latest version, so I'm going to see if maybe it fixed itself.

from a noobs point of view I have likes and dislikes. After the glitch in sound which as I suspected was my fault, I had to run through the preferences and totally set it all up. I have a couple month sin and the help of some very patient people gettign me to spped on SL.
If I were a total new imbound I'd be lost, Bad enough learning the basics and then having to fight a viewer set up not geared to be ready rigth off.
BUT thats about it what I dont like the COLOR..... omg, can I change that horrid blue.
-my gesures work because i KNOW they are there but my popup to see them doesnt.
-the whole radio music panel is horrible. how about a teeny button that actuall says ON/OFF
-My camera behaves much differently, seesm to ramp up speed wehn I move like its stuck but it does make it move smoother, So if I was shooting movies I bet thats a plus.
did I mention that horrid blue? - I had a few interesting times dancing though, I couldnt stop myself.
OK the good stuff!!!
- this is a biggie, usually i crash like every 20 minutes. click a box to see a proflie crash, tp at the wrong second crash. NO... the NEW viewer ran 3 hours and didnt crash ONE SINGLE TIME! yeah. everything ran smoothr I could walk better, i ran! I actually ran for the first time in SL.
- pictures. pictures a far better than before, crisper, cleaner brighter. I LOVE IT for that. I also like the easier to navigate old windows style invetory tree, although I wish it could not be linear, rather a explore computer/new window kind of thing with drag and drop.
(I know you can drag and drop already but its tough and I lose things yet.)
the no crashing and better pics means this is my new viewer, bu tonly if I gouge my eyes out and find a better color to look at, (maybe I can again, I dont know- please lord say yes.)
other than that its been good,
Oh I did haev a creation item that took off into the sunset like a rocket once. I tak ethat as operator error too, but it did happen.

Until LL fix JIRA issue VWR-3258 ( http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3258) it will remain unusable for me, and quite a number of others. If it wasn't for Nicholaz, or OnRez viewers those affected would be locked out totally. Having your screen fill with triangles every couple of minutes is not acceptable. Neither is the workaround of turning off VBO, and being reduced to less than 5 FPS in an empty sim. Or the other workaround of having all settings on low, where everything looks just bad. So, nope not ready for it. And getting increasingly worried LL will pull the plug on 1.18 totally.

The RC works pretty well for me, with a few exceptions.
- It crashes due to the same memory leaks that have plagued the 1.19 series. Hopefully, a Nicholaz patch will fix that when the RC gets...released.
- The frame rate slows to a crawl if I open the Map.
- The dead zone for the Space Navigator needs some work. I tend to rise or sink slowly, or rotate. The rotation happens especially if I open the Map.
- Somebody needs to teach me how to use the SN for editing. It works OK for avatar and camera movement, but I need to be able to move things one axis at a time when building.

I just tried RC6 this morning and things got better once again. The framerate is still higher than 1.19.1 and none of the flickers and texture glitches have come back. So far so good. (^_^)
I still want to put more hours on it before I clap my hands, but at least that Bad_Mem_Pointer thing is gone at logoff. (^_^)y

I have downloaded and installed all various versions of the viewer and I sometimes log in with the RC version, but not very often because it just seems to lock up and/or crash too easily. For 95% of my time inworld, I am still using the 1.18.5.3 viewer with Nicholaz BE-v and probably will continue to do so until it doesn't work anymore.

You can open TWO windows! You don't know how long it took me to find that! In File - say New Window--- tada! Now you can drag and drop- yup- I lost stuff around too, many times

Well I'm still not keen on the color scheme. I'll be excited when we can personalize that.
Sounds like the main problem is the VBO and graphics cards for a lot of folks. We've been seeing a lot of threads about the colored triangles here lately.

The flexies still do not work well. I'm going to see if I can recreate it on my system and file a step-by-step on the JIRA. It's like it doesn't recognize anything other than size for cones (I'm going to see about the rest.) They 'jitter' but they don't arc or anything. Yes, I have flexies turned to high, going to check some other settings to see if I can get the thing to magically work. I've got an ATI Radeon x1650 pro, which has no problem with the regular viewer.
Oh, ho... this is going to SUCK. I have to recheck the flex on anything not made with this viewer in order to make it recognize them. WTF?! I'm adding it to the existing JIRA thing.

I have flexi tails, made before the 1.20 viewer existed, and they work fine under the 1.20 client. I'll check some other flexi items, but it may be dependent on a specific hardware configuratiion.

I'm sticking with the old viewer until this either magically fixes itself or more people have problems with it.

From: MoxZ Mokeev Downloading it mandatorily now. Guess I'm going in blind! It's not mandatory yet unless you want to use the RC. The 1.19s are still standard and LL claims they'll continue to be after the RC goes to a main viewer. Variety and all that. On a side note, Nicholaz made a new set of patches for 1.18.5.3 which he likes better than the BV-E and he's sort of working on the 1.20, although not with any urgency. http://nicholaz-beresford.blogspot.com/2008/05/grab-band-aid-and-snow-goggles.html

Second is my hair in 1.19.1.4 The lighting is very different in both pictures though. You'd need to compare it in the exact same place under the same conditions.

You'd need to compare it in the exact same place under the same conditions. Seconded. Lighting changes how shapes, prims, particles (If not glowing) and just about everything looks. Create a studio-like situation which makes your hair look good in 1.19.4, and then use that same studio setting, pose, everything in 1.2.6 and see if it's that much different. Oh, and hit ctrl+shift+y for both, to make it midday to keep the same lighting environmentally too. Best way to be accurate.

Kathy you have got a great example there that LL might want to see.
If I were you I would put in a JIRA with those last two pictures - definitely something that would upset me, if I saw that!
If you let us know here when you create one and what the number is, we can support it and vote for it.

I wasn't able to stay on long enough to make sure things were all good though. RL stole me away.

To be honest, I have never created a JIRA entry before though I have voted and commented on a few.
I'm not even sure how to describe the problem this is showing. Is it a prim alignment issue, is it a flexi issue? About all I can really say is that my hair is rendered differently and it looks awful in the 1.20 viewer.
I have a few other hair pieces that were created by the same person using a similar layout that exhibit this same problem to varying degrees.
I'd be happy to put this on JIRA, just not exactly sure what to say. Suggestions?
