From: da Blog
We expect this to be the final Release Candidate in the 1.20 viewer series, barring any Showstoppers that you may find.
So, as painful as the previous RCs have been in the 1.20 series (for me anyway), it may be prudent to try this out and see whether the wheels come off.

Sigh, I had just given up on using the RC because the memory leak bogs the entire computer down.

I'm using the RC, and always do, and am having pretty much no problems. I can build higher, like the UI, and really see no issues. And now the error that happens when you quit has stopped, so that's cool too.

I've found absolutely no issues so far with this RC, though it is really new so haven't had a lot of time to test run it.

I've been running the RC's since they've been coming out.

Other than the Memory Dump when I exit SL, I haven't had a problem.

The RC hates flex prims on my computer. I have no idea why, but it's like it ignores the settings or something, so my dresses look like crap. I haven't had a chance to try the latest to see if it magically fixed itself.

@Raudf

The RC has been handling flexies fine for me since it started remembering the settings a couple RC's back.

Are you sure you have the flexi detail slider up in the custom section of your graphics tab?

My streaming music on my parcel is working fine... if you're getting audio from other parcels, maybe try changing your stream?

And I found the one issue that has been in every iteration of 1.2 that I've noticed.

If you zoom in, occasionally you'll get a 'jitter' of sorts. Every prim and av will seem to shake just slightly. It's annoying, but happens a lot less now than with 1.2.1

Does Advanced / Rendering / Axes work properly?

I only get one vertical white axis. I think there should be 3 axes colored red blue and green.

I noticed that too earlier this week.

They're still there, they're just being rendered at 0, 0, 0 of whatever sim you're on. They show through prims, but if you're too far away (or not facing the SW corner) you won't see them.

It works fine in 1.19.4 where the axes are centered on your avie and the white line actually denotes the 0,0 corner, so it's a 1.20 RC specific bug.

works OK for me

BUT, I noticed local chat and group chat are in the same window!!

i like to run a local chat window separate from the group chat, i don't like the combined window at all.

I am still exploring Jira, still kind of new to it although i did report a while ago. i am a bit rusty

That's just the default, you can tear off "Local Chat" by clicking the little button in the upper right corner when you have it open.

(Rereading it, I think you probably mean something else :o)

What I have a real problem with is that this is version 6 of the 1.20 Release Candidate. I was always under the impression that Release Candidate meant that "we have tested this thoughly and want one final test before we release this to gold." If you are at version 6 of your release candidate than it was never really a release candidate at all and maybe you should take it back to beta.

RC 5's major issue for me was the large memory leak that chewed through 3MB pretty darn quick. Plus, of course, the occasional random crash for no identifiable reason. I'd forgotten what that was like until trying out the 1.20 series.

I'll try RC6, but, ... oh, Nicholaz .... yoo hoo ...

The use of the term RC is somewhat misleading, but LL has actually come out and said that they are fully aware that the early RCs are *not* actually true release candidates. With the 1.20 series, they deliberately released it even earlier than usual, planning to go through more iterations to get as widespread a test as possible, and only the last couple approached true "RC" status.
-From where I'm standing, it seems to have worked. The early 1.20RCs crashed and burned horribly for me, but the last couple have been by far the most stable clients I've seen for a *long* time.

I was happy with the last one (even to the extent of quite liking the UI) and this one seems to be fine in the brief runout I gave it this morning.

Apart from SLurls. I tried TPing directly to a variety of links from some blogs, and the LM wouldn't appear in game.

I guess I'll report that later on.

I haven't had any crash issues in ages - for which I am grateful. In on of the 1.19.1 somethings, I lost the ability to respond to IM's or even see the actual contact list. I had to go back to the 1.20 whatevers in order to recover that.

I did have the memory loss error but that was taken care of with this new release. And no music or voice problems to report - so for me, so far so good.

Just tested this to be sure it didn't b0rk in RC6: you can have it both ways. To make a separate Local Chat window, open the Communicate window to the Local Chat tab and look at the upper right of the *inner* window border: there will be a greyed-out "X" button, and to its left another button--press that one and the Local Chat window undocks; press the same button to re-dock.

What's killing me about the recent RC series is that it will run pretty nicely on my Linux box for ten to twenty minutes, and then it starts to freeze. It will just hesitate at first, but within just a couple minutes, it's all I can do to get a single character typed into chat. Dunno if this is what Bluesman is experiencing on his Linux install... or even if other Linux folks are having troubles. I'm hoping I can find some graphics setting at fault here so I can keep running it longer per session to see if other really critical problems are still out there.

I still have the Retro Dazzle folder unzipped in a SecondLife folder in My Documents. When ever I get an update, I don't even launch it before going to that folder and simply copy-pasting it into the RC Program Files folder. (^_^)

Somehow, I think you're talking about a UI edit UI with sliders and menus for colors, sizes, and graphics... Now THAT I would love to see. Windows Media Player had just that for a while. It was nice. (^_^)y
