If SL euphoria has passed, what brought you back to RL?

I own a lot of BBC-A DVD's as well.

Thing about me and television is that ever since I was little I could never just sit and watch. I always had to comment or 'add' my own dialogue and suggestions if the action wasn't developing to my satisfaction - and don't get me started on why folk in scary movies always think it's a good idea to split up and do a search just when they establish there's a homicidal entity cruising the bowels of the house.

I live for the day when folks get used to the notion of creating their own drama in virtual worlds as a matter of course (and I don't mean drama as in bullsh!t, which is common enough). It seems to be a rare talent but I think that's largely because it is still very new and many still struggle to get beyond the Barbie and Ken concept.

The passive act of watching television or a movie can be irksome for me, I guess, and that's where I value the potential of virtual worlds.

It's a bit like how they say that according to the laws of physics a bumble bee shouldn't be able to fly.

What I mean is that I should have become bored with SL by now, after over two and a half years, but I haven't. I still enjoy it as much as when I first came here, if not more so.

I think if you were spending 14 hours a day in-world, that might be a bit excessive. But has time spent on SL meant you've missed out on other worthwhile RL things? Or, in truth, would you have just been watching TV, reading a novel or doing something else on the computer?

hmmm...3 yrs in SL and counting and hasn't happened to me yet. But I'm an artist in RL too so this is just an extension of RL anyway.

SL relationship drama does it for me. After three years of it I realized what I really like is making pretty places to live and silly animations. So now I spend most of my time in my Open Sims. I just completed terraforming my 9 region mini-continent that I am now decorating with all kinds of castles, medieval townships, woodland villages and maybe a ship or two if I get ambitious.

The neat thing is, cost is 0. I can keep adding and adding as much land as I want. No tier, no having to relocate because I might offend somebody. I can connect to OSG or HG if I feel the need to have someone stop in for a visit. Or I can just run my private little world disconnected from the universe giggling happily when I finally get a couple of prims to line up.

The SL euphoria is still just as strong as it was when I started, what's changed is I'm a lot better equipped to handle it. For me there is no 'snap back to RL' because I never left it, and haven't left SL either. My SL time, and sometimes my LOTS of SL time does actually fit neatly into my RL like a puzzle piece. I don't have to neglect either one to enjoy the other fully.

i don't think i was ever addicted to it..
i always ate my dinner at the same time every night..never missed work because of it..in fact at times my rl job has me use sl tool..i have never neglected my boyfriend because of it.
but really if anything my use of it becomes less and less as time goes on..

summer time it's almost at a halt anyways..too much to do in the summer time..
the forums .now those are addicting hehehehe

Actually that is not true. In my case anyway. I didn't log into SL for months,but still visited the forums quite a bit. I didn't miss SL,just the people on the forums.

Look, I don't know why you choose to tolerate Pep and his insulting behaviour towards anyone for whom English is not their first language, but I wont. I reserve the right to call someone an asshole when they try and upset people for no reason at all. It's irrelevant to me how many of his lapdogs cheer him on - it's still lame, and I think deep down you know it as well as I do.

You are doing the same thing. Calling people who do like him lapdogs,sexually frustrated housewives etc...They have done nothing to you. And yes,I do think it is lame the way he acts sometimes and have no problem telling him that. Sometimes, he is dead on though. Sometimes he is just a dick.

I couldn't care less how many times you have posted. The point is you are calling someone a troll,who has been posting here for quite awhile. While you just came out of nowhere doing the very same things you are accusing him of.
