What I have realized, is there is no method what-so-ever. Logically, one would assume they would pass out stipends alphabetically, the order in which created OR your way Raudf... But no...that would be too easy for LL I think... I think sometimes they like to just jerk us around, because they think they can. My stipend is 500L a week and I can live without it since most weeks I can make triple that or more, but its the principle of it all... Update again...its now almost 12:30pm in SLT and I still don't have mine. AGAIN. I called them last week to find out what the deal is....could they tell me anything? Nope. Heck, if they did away with it and started charging only the tier fees, I wouldn't miss it at all, but as it stands, it's a part of what I am paying for. I wonder if I should nudge them and see what's up, because frankly, I don't know of anyone who has gotten theirs and if the system was working, someone would have theirs by NOW. Hounding won't start until 24 hours have passed. _____________________

Oooooo... The usual Tuesday "where's my stipend" thread.
Last week I got my stipend at 10:26am SLT (PDT) on Wednesday and I'm in the same time zone as LL. They did say in the Blog, that it was taking longer because the number of people getting stipends has increased. That is not to say, that they haven't borked the process. I mean isn't the full name of LL "Linden 'Bork' Lab"? Anyone handing out pie? _____________________

To do my part to save the environment, I will recycle my comment from last week's thread:
Darn it! No "I didn't get my stipend" threads until Tuesday is over! ![]() (And that means Tuesday at LL HQ in San Francisco, for those who were planning to protest using the time zone argument. ) |

You know, they could even say, "Those who's last name starts with A - M will get theirs on Tuesday. Those whose last names start with N - Z gets it on Wednesday." I wouldn't mind waiting the extra day before starting to scream! *giggles* And I'm a really GOOD screamer too! _____________________

My theory (admittedly, stolen from tv) is that every eligible avatar's UUID is printed on a little ping-pong ball, and those balls are put in a huge tank of water. There, a dozen trained dugongs select pingpong balls and nudge them through a little slot. Inside the slot, an OCR device reads the UUID and the stipend is instantly paid out. Sometimes, if one or two of the dugongs is feeling a bit under-the-weather, they call in sick and it's up to the rest of the dugongs to take up the slack. These are days when stipends take a lot longer to process, because you have only 10 dugongs doing the work of 12. It can get really bad, as you may well imagine, if even more of them are sick. Once, a full half dozen dugongs were ill due to some bad fish, and it took literally 5 days for all the stipends to get paid out.
In light of recent increased delays, I think it may be safe to speculate that there are now so many pingpong balls that it is exceedingly difficult for the dugongs to swim around properly. We may have even lost a dugong or two, due to cutbacks. -Atashi _____________________

*sticks out her tongue* So, did YOU get your stipend? ![]() Couldn't tell you... I only check for it every month or so when I archive my account history. I do understand that the timing matters to some people, but it still doesn't justify the panic that occurs BEFORE the normal distribution day is over. And now that LL has blog-posted clearly stating that the processes are taking longer and some stipends may not show up until Wednesday, the weekly Tuesday "didn't get my stipend" thread is... well... very silly to say the least. Now if someone wants to complain that they didn't get last week's stipend yet, I would certainly be very sympathetic. ![]() |

Okay, this is so very wrong... I should not be occasionally checking my account, see an increase in the L and get excited thinking that it's the stipend.. only to find out it is actual sales. I should be more excited about the sales! ![]() Edit: I did get a response. AND, as Ava suggests, (this is from the support ticket) the panic period is still after 24 hours! Yeah, this is what I really wanted to know, was if they had extended the period of the thing officially or not. _____________________

Did you actually submit a support ticket about not getting your stipend when it is STILL Tuesday?! /me thwacks my hand with a ping pong paddle and tells Raudf to assume the position. ![]() No, I asked if it was official that they were still doing it on Tuesday only or if they are nudging it into Wednesday. And from what the support said, it was just Tuesday. So, 24 hours before panicking ![]() And besides, I'd like that entirely too much! Besides, it was the first time I've used the ticket system. Figured I'd use it to judge how long response time is before I'd actually need it. Honest! _____________________

Delayed inworld payment processing Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007 at 2:52 PM PDT by: Maurice Linden Good afternoon everyone. It appears that group payouts have not been paid for the past few days, directory listing fees haven’t been charged, and stipends haven’t paid out yet today. We have begun the stipend payout processing now, which will be followed by the directory listing fees. The group balances will begin paying out tomorrow at the regular time. We are working to discover the root cause of these delays and apologize for the inconvenience. They're quick, ain't they? ![]() _____________________

Just saying that Germans (and I will graciously allow for other Europeans, too) might want to claim the right to complain earlier.

And yet your location still has no effect whatsoever on what time it is in San Francisco. Unless of course that location is flying really fast around the earth to reverse its rotation and make time go backward... but that would just make it Monday, which probably isn't what you were going for. ![]() |
