I hardly think my system qualifies as taking security casually, more the opposite in fact.

Sorry, I didn't mean it that way. I just meant that security is so important that it's reasonable to correct even tiny math errors and typos - not because the correction itself is important, but because the mindset of zero tolerance for security mistakes is important.

Then I quite agree :) I took no offense at the corrections though - obviously I was having a lack of caffeine moment when I came up with those figures. :o

I just use ordinary Welsh words. The paucity of vowels tends to confuse hackers, as does the fact that Welsh words have a nasty habit of changing their initial letters.

eg Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

Pep (Actually, using correctly spelled English words would work, given the general level of illiteracy.)

I went through a phase of using random foreign words from all kinds of obscure languages. The last one of those was Irish gaelic.

You're mistaken about Welsh lacking vowels though. Welsh actually has too many vowels - there are 7. W and Y are vowels also, in Welsh.

My current password is an apparently random string of letters and numbers which is actually the manufacturer's product code for... something... plus an additional extra bit which varies from website to website.

As they can be in English as well. My son made an idiot of several of his junior school teachers at Hangman using 'rhythm'.

Pep (Hackers don't use Welsh dictionary attacks. ;) )
